I am shocked and dismayed that the lovely, kind, gentle, quiet and caring Paul O’Grady is being replaced with……..
Alison big gob shouty Hammond!

She will scare every nervous dog in range of her loud voice and exaggerated arm movements. She is a physically large woman who will overwhelm most dogs.

Why couldn’t the Tv company find someone more suitable, perhaps someone younger and gentler and not so well known. Give someone else a chance. AH is absolutely everywhere at the moment and she’s already ruined bake off for me. Not a fan at all (don’t know why you’d think that 🤣).

Who do you think would be good?

GrannyGravy why is it so wrong to dislike’not hate please ‘ any celebrity, I don’t like watching Lorraine Kelly because she giggles, that’s not hate

I didn’t mention hate Anniebach that’s not my way.

I totally understand people not liking the public persona of some presenters or actors, but calling Alison Hammond names
big gob, shouty, gob sh** (just a few that I can recall without rereading the entire thread) is reminiscent of playground bullying and like I said previously it makes me feel uncomfortable.

Whether you like her or not is really immaterial, she is not a good fit for Love of Dogs. The show is about the plight of abandoned animals not a showcase for the presenter.

This 👏👏👏

I'll give her a chance, though, I liked her on the Bakeoff.

She might surprise us all 🙂

I saw Alison Hammond on This Morning yesterday (keeping out if the way of DS & DiL’s house keeper). She said that she was extremely honoured to be doing Love of Dogs and had received lovely messages from friends of Paul O’Grady wishing her success.

For all the judgmental folks, she has been looking to get her own dog for ages, even more so since looking after her friends.

She comes over as kind, friendly, she is not up herself and definitely doesn’t take herself seriously. People we know who know her say she is adorable and often comments on how fortunate she has been with work over the last few years.

Once again a thread on GN has made me feel extremely uncomfortable by comments made about people who are unknown to them.

Some of you are really quite nasty to the poor woman (another Meghan) someone to rip into and hate Give her a chance she’s, I think, a kind woman with a soft side just because she’s bright, fun and noisy doesn’t make her a bad person she just has a big personality
If she makes a mess of it have a go but give the poor lass a chance

Quiet right 👏👏

Martin Clunes please

farview Sat 03-Feb-24 10:07:26

Martin Clunes or Ricky Gervais would be my choice

Anniebach Sat 03-Feb-24 09:55:00

No, she will have tears running from her left eye 😪

Alison on the same post as Megan, nooooo

Meghan would be a better fit for the programme:

She has rescue dogs of her own.
She needs to get on the right side of Camilla.
The way things are going, she may soon be in need of a job.

Sorted! 😂

She sounds like someone I definitely wouldn’t want to go for a drink with BlueBelle. I don’t care for loud people.

She’s one of the few contestants from Big Brother that I liked or remembered, even though she wasn’t in it for very long, so there must have been something about her personality that I warmed to. She did a very good serious documentary a few years ago. I like her.

BlueBelle Fri 02-Feb-24 23:06:19

GSM She a large character who came from I think was it Big Brother she fronts or is on a lot of shows, she took over from Holly W , on the day time programs
She’s a black lady, single mum, large sized lady with a personality to match She laughs a lot, will poke fun at herself and just seems a warm, fun person but because she’s loud with a loud laugh she gets a lot of stick.
I d love to go for a pint of cider with her I reckon you wouldn’t get bored

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Feb-24 22:56:09

I’m very glad I haven’t a clue who she is. It sounds as though I’d better keep it that way.

Oh no! Alison Hammond! I just find her too full on and really over the top! I really doubt she has a genuine interest in dogs as well. Martin Clunes would be ideal.

Primrose53 Fri 02-Feb-24 21:45:50

I couldn’t remember her name yesterday but what about Jilly Cooper? She is a real dog lover and speaks nicely.

Georgesgran Fri 02-Feb-24 19:02:44

Sorry - posted too soon - Alison is just one of the ‘stars’ taking part.

Georgesgran Fri 02-Feb-24 18:54:14

I’ve just read she’s co-hosting Comic Relief on 15/3 as well.

sodapop Fri 02-Feb-24 12:13:24

I think therein lies some of the problem wendyann23 Paul will be a hard act to follow for his genuine love of animals. It speaks volumes about the man that in all the media postings I have read about him and there have been many, no adverse comments made. I think the producers of the programme could have found someone more in tune with it rather than settling for the flavour of the month.

wendyann23 Fri 02-Feb-24 11:50:38

She was better on Bake Off than I thought she would be, not so loud. Will watch one or two of the new episodes to see how she comes across but not very hopeful. But then again, Paul is such a hard act to follow. He genuinely loved dogs and this came across very strongly. Much missed.

Queen Camilla! Yes!
