We have some very entertaining inscriptions on the older memorials in our churchyard, mainly about how fleeting life is!
What I think is a shame, is that more recent ones don't mention the work the people did for the church. One lady was churchwarden for many years but there's no mention of that on her headstone, likewise one of the men was organist for a long time, but his memorial doesn't tell you that.
I'm both churchwarden and organist. Will there be room on my memorial for all that?
