Morning all from grey skies in S Hants.
Friends of ours have a summerhouse Roses they use it quite a lot to sit and read or bird watch.
Yesterday we had our kitchen window replaced, collected MrJ’s car (new heater fitted) Tesco delivery, daughter came to use the washing machine. (hers is awaiting warranty inspection), later we went to the pub.
Today is paper, walk, rugby, then duck with pancakes later for Chinese New Year.

Am watching the antics of a dog walker with a very reluctant pet in tow - plainly she wants to get home and the dog is in no hurry. As it’s dry and bright for a change the field at the back of our garden will be quite busy, I think. No plans for the day but will venture to the village just to have a little walk, and hope everyone has a good enough day.

So glad you’re feeling better Ash thank you for your kind words.
I forgot today is a Public Holiday, St. Paul’s Shipwreck, which the Maltese celebrate as he brought Christianity to the island. Post Office closed so my parcel will have to wait!
Never mind, a friend asked me to meet her for coffee so I will enjoy a good chat.

Hope you feel better Marydoll.💐

Good morning from a dry Suffolk where, hopefully, some of the flooded lanes will be drier today.

RosesandLilac….wevhave a summerhouse which we love. It is a small one, spacious enough for 2 large comfy rattan chairs and table and in a position in the garden where it gets late morning and afternoon sun.

I spent most lock down afternoons there and it helped reduce any cabin fever!

Today I think we are going to buy DH a new wedding ring. His old one had become loose after he lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago after a long stay in hospital. Just before Christmas when visiting DS he felt it loose again when playing with their puppy and noticed when we got home that it wasn’t on his finger.

We assumed he had dropped it at DS’s or in the car on the way home but after extensive searches of our car and DS’s house and garden,it hasn’t turned up. All we can think is that it dropped off outside their house and the car and someone found it. He has said that he doesn’t want an expensive one as he won’t be married with this one as long as he was with the first!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dry South Yorkshire. It stopped raining long enough for me to walk to school and back yesterday - the most exercise I’ve managed this week. day. Mick I got into trouble from DD the other day for using the phrase “it’ll see me out”! She thinks it’s morbid😁! I’m making GS a cake today for his birthday tomorrow so that will keep me busy. Apart from that, and some laundry, a quiet day.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 3°C.
I couldn't be without my air fryer, Mick. I started off with a basic one from Asda, now I have an all singing, all dancing one from Ninja. It is used every day. DIL has been baking amazing brownies in hers.

Yesterday, I got a shock when DD popped in on her way to the Borders. One side of her face had swollen to twice its normal size. She had been poking about in her tooth to remove a piece of food and this was the result.
Fortunately, I have a sonic tool for removing food and I got her to use my prescription mouthwash. The swelling reduced a great deal after this. DD is a walking disaster, there is always some angst in her life.

After she left, I decided to go to Sainsbury's as we needed some essentials. DH offered to go, but I had decided two weeks of wallowing was enough and I wanted my life back.
This was in fact a foolish idea. I was feeling nauseous and still getting dreadful stomach cramps, but I was determined to go. It has been ten days of stomach problems now, after my Shingles vax. Just as I got to the self scan payment desk, the hand held scanner died and my shopping disappeared. ☹ I could have wept, because I just wanted home.

I could have wept even further, when I saw the length of the queue at customer services and the fact that I needed to abandon my trolley due to the barriers, go through the manual check outs and walk back down the length of the shop to seek assistance. Things got worse, I was selected for a trolley check. 😭
By the time I got home, I was feeling very grumpy and sorry for myself..

So today will, be a quiet one, no visitors expected and hopefully we will see Dollie at the Vigil Mass tonight, if I feel up to going.

Enjoy your day folks, whatever your plans and I hope the poorlies feel better..

Good morning from Glasgow. It’s just getting light now and I’m not surprised it is damp outside as we had heavy rain overnight.

I had a broken sleep last night due to a tickly, dry hacking cough, not Covid and I don’t feel unwell, just pretty well washed out. A lazy type day ahead it is then.

I watched Society of the Snow recently GM, a different version of Alive which I saw years ago. Both harrowing, more so it being a true story.
BlueSapphire I learned the hard way when our cat would disappear whenever she saw her carrier. Now I leave it out a few days before her appointment telling her, not today but one day soon, you will be in there😸, so far, so good.

My best wishes to all for the best day possible.

Grandmabatty Sat 10-Feb-24 07:51:41

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and raining. It rained nearly all day yesterday. Ash I'm glad you had a better night's sleep. Bellasnana you wake up very early! I hope you get your parcel ok.RosesandLilac I have a small summerhouse. I didn't use it much last year but plan to this year. Susan that sounds like a lovely way to spend time with your dgc. Enjoy.
Yesterday I had a change of plan. Instead of baking, I went to the local retail park and stocked up on art supplies to encourage my motivation to return. A quick visit to Marks and Spencer for bread, then to the pharmacy for my prescription and then I popped in to see dd and the boys for coffee and cake. So a more sociable time than expected. In the afternoon I caught up with messaging friends and my aunt and uncle in Spain. My uncle continues to improve after his stroke. Then it was back to the retail park to collect dgs1's birthday present which I had ordered. I'll need to hide it somewhere.
Today I'm having dgs1 for a sleepover. He has his food order in already so I'll do an Aldi shop soon. There's a number of painting equipment for him, playdough and puzzles and toys waiting. We are going to play cards too. He likes having a bath at my house because my bath is deep and he doesn't have to share it with his little brother. We are going to the local garden centre tomorrow morning for breakfast. So a busy day for with one of my favourite people. Have a good day all.

enjoyed Tai Chi while owning to feeling like a very scruffy duckling amongst the swans

That made me smile, cornergran! I wonder if you remember the Danny Kaye song.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry, no rain spots in yesterdays puddles. Dry day forecast with a little sun.

Full day yesterday, carried on with the cards, enjoyed Tai Chi while owning to feeling like a very scruffy duckling amongst the swans. A cross-making phone call in the evening didn’t stop me sleeping, I’ve had a decent night.

Hope for a walk today and maybe a snack lunch, depends where we go. Our son’s home is an island again after local torrential rain, he’s concerned this time. Will check on him later, hoping a drier day will see the waters recede.

Pleased you’re feeling better ash. That was a nuisance mick, hope the new one arrives without hassle. No experience of a summerhouse roses, have always loved the idea sadly the only sensible place we could put one has a magnolia I’m very fond of. Good news the glasses were less financially damaging than you feared karma.

With thoughts of all finding life hard going. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

kittylester Sat 10-Feb-24 07:37:13

Good morning all from a dry but overcast North Leicestershire.

I have Mount Everest to tackle this morning whole DH goes to the gym. We may nip into town later but DH's team is on TV at tea time so that takes priority.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Pittcity Sat 10-Feb-24 07:34:06

Good morning from another grey, damp day in Colchester. I've entered hibernation mode, only venturing out if really necessary.
One of the incompetent insulation men returned yesterday as he'd forgotten important paperwork for our grant application on his last visit.
No plans for today.
Love to all 🦩 x

luluaugust Sat 10-Feb-24 07:29:10

Good morning from a bright W Kent, rain to come I think. A top up shop for me too. Little else today, I had itchy ears yesterday one of the joys of hearing aids so will try and get some drops.
Take care everyone

Mizuna Sat 10-Feb-24 07:25:22

Good morning from a damp but will be sunny Cornwall, typical for this area. Have an Argos chair delivery this morning which will need to be unpacked downstairs and hauled up in two pieces because the box will be too big for my doorway. Add my crutches plus a grandchild to the mix and it should be entertaining!

My photographer son had one of his frequent 'prepare to photograph an important person but we won't say who it is' commissions and turned up to find the Prime Minister who was obviously enjoying the visit.

Slept half the night on my new sofa - didn't really mean to and woke in a tangle of clothes and cushions at 4am, serves me right. 😄

GrannyGravy13 Sat 10-Feb-24 07:23:15

Morning all, haven’t opened the curtains yet.

Have to pop to local shops this morning and then going with DD to pick up GS’s birthday cake and bring it here to put in our overflow fridge till the party tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a happy Saturday 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a damp Torbay with wind forecast.

Thank you so much to you all for the supportive comments yesterday (and today, Susan56) - it really helps when one is feeling unwell. I had a long, restful night and hope to be eating more normally today. Even scrambled egg was a struggle yesterday evening!

I hope the cats will be as co-operative as possible, BlueSapphire!
Never apologise for interesting accounts of your life in Malta, Bellasnana. You’ve earned your lie-in today ….. and the orchid!

A quiet day for me seems like a good idea! Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 10-Feb-24 07:09:16

Morning all from a dark and damp West Oxfordshire.
Elder son, his partner and our granddaughter are arriving at some point today. They’re going to a military tattoo first. I have to prepare their room and do some of the Sunday lunch prep. I know that’s tomorrow, but once they’re here it’s nice not to be stuck in the kitchen! So I’ll mix up the Yorkshire pudding batter, prepare some stuffing balks (granddaughter adores then) and bake the non-sinkable chocolate pudding.
Have a good day everyone. I’m so sorry that lots of grans are suffering at the moment.

RosesandLilac Sat 10-Feb-24 07:02:57

Good morning, it’s another wet start to the day for south Gloucestershire 🙄. We did have a brief period of slightly blue sky yesterday but it was pretty wet otherwise.
I’m pondering over whether to get rid of my greenhouse and have a summerhouse instead; I no longer intend to grow tomatoes etc as so completely disappointed with them for the last few years and it’s being used as a dumping ground by DH at the moment 😡
Do any of you have a summerhouse?
Hope you all have a lovely weekend 🌹

Bellasnana Sat 10-Feb-24 06:51:47

Good morning from Malta where it is overcast and we expect isolated showers which will deposit fine sand everywhere. There goes my plan to clean the windows!

It’s such a pity the weather has turned as it’s Carnival and they put in such a lot of work with huge floats, dance troupes with fabulous costumes etc.

I slept until 7.20 this morning which is quite decadent as I’m usually up at 4am and with the boys before 7. DD3 did ask if I could look after them today for a couple of hours but I have my own stuff to do so I said no.

I have a parcel to collect from the Post Office. The postman is not allowed to leave it if you are not home so it gets taken back to the PO. You then have to present your ID card before they give it to you. It’s a bit of a palaver as I’m never home when they deliver so have to stand in a long line on a Saturday.

I gave away some furniture on a recycle site this week and was really happy to receive a beautiful orchid from the lady who took it. There really are some lovely people in the world.

Anyway, sorry for the long ramble. I hope you all have a good day and that our poorly friends are feeling better.☀️

BlueSapphire Sat 10-Feb-24 06:24:29

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton, 5°C outside at the moment.
Up early as the cats have an appointment at the vets at 8.30 for their annual check-up and jabs. DD-out-law is kindly taking me, and I am just hoping they don't play hide and seek when the time comes to get them into their carriers! It has been known......

After that I shall head out on the bus to the shops where I shall probably have coffee and a bite to eat before doing a top-up shop. Then home to watch rugby this afternoon.

Wishing all a good Saturday.

Susan56 Sat 10-Feb-24 06:12:59

Good morning from Shropshire.A misty start to the day.

We collected the children from school and they are here for a sleepover. We went to the garden centre for cake and hot chocolate followed by a trip to The Range where they both chose a craft set to do today.I was so tired after my disturbed night that I went to bed as soon as the children were asleep.

Hoping that Ash and Marydoll are feeling better today and that Purplepixie’s recovery is going well. Also that Auntieflo has had her hospital treatment.

Thoughts with all with mountains to climb💐

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning, we are going to have a cheerful sunny day today in s somerset

Specsavers yesterday and I had the best eye exam and the most wonderful considerations from each member of staff. I had been apprehensive, the getting -older eye deterioration worry. I paid for a comfi new pair of glasses with the best varifocals, only £270. I am so grateful for that. I only wanted one pair but I will have coatings and a golden ticket towards a future other pair

I took the bus yesterday, use it or lose it. It did take longer but so much chatting with different people, which was priceless

Today, I want to be out cycling to enjoy the lovely weather ahead. Perhaps a few bits of coat-sewing later. I feel myself gliding into the weekend, which is always a diffeternt ambience

Have a good day

grandMattie Sat 10-Feb-24 05:51:06

Good morning from a dryish Bristol.
Our Spanish class was severely depleted by illness, etc., so only a very small handful of us attended. We had had to write something about a film and I chose the strongly recommended “Society of the Snow”. It’s about the 1972 plane crash in the Andes where the survivors ate their dead companions to stay alive. Very harrowing.
The rest of the day was quiet.
I’ve really got to get back to the quilt commissioned by a GNetter.
Today, church coffee and sewing.
May you have a pleasant weekend, with life treating you kindly. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
