Does anyone remember Walter Hottle Bottle from the Jack and Jill comic? Walter was a magic hot water bottle that came to life in a little boy's dreams at night, and took him on adventures.

My mum used to read this story and many others to my brother and I in the mid-1960s. I remember I always loved stories about Walter Hottle Bottle ❤️.

Do you recall your favourite comic/character?

I remember my sister loving Walter Hottle Bottle! As a child I always LOVED comics and flirted with many, Diana, Princess, June and Schoolfriend, but Bunty was my favourite! I used to get it every week and maybe one other. Bunty had the best stories and the cut out doll! Loved the Four Marys at St Elmo’s and wished I could go to a jolly boarding school like that! When I was older it was Jackie, Petticoat, Mirabelle etc and on to Honey, 19 and then the grown up ones! I STILL adore magazines and treat myself to good old Woman’s Weekly and a couple of monthlies. Just wish I could find such innocent delight in them as I did the comics of my youth!

Was it Bunty that had the cut out doll on the back with paper cut out clothes, shoes bags etc? I loved that but it was annoying that the fold back flaps that attached the clothes to the doll never stayed in place and the clothes fell off!

Yes! I just remembered, it was Bunty with the cut out doll with clothes that didn't stay on. The paper was very thin!

Diana magazine, then Jackie and then Petticoat.

I loved Girl,it gave you useful advice about how to sit elegantly and how to talk to boys! Then I bought Honey and Date. That was embarrassing asking for a Date in the newsagents!

My dear school chum got Judy and I got Bunty. We saved every copy then swapped huge bundles at the start of every school holidays so we had plenty to keep us quiet! Also had School Friend. But Diana had better free gifts!

My brother was bought Cor!! comic. I used to read that after he had finished with it, as well as my own comics. I wasn't interested in his Look and Learn, though.
