What was your favourite comic as a child?

Robin then progressed to Girl. At boarding school we were only allowed Look and Learn.

My parents (well, my Dad) weren't keen on comics but when Girl arrived on the scene in the wake of the boys' Eagle, and the minister's family had them, we were able to have Girl and School Friend. I really preferred the Eagle which had a space story - Dan Dare, pilot of the future.

I had Girl and School Friend, and seem to remember them being delivered on a Tuesday. My brother had Eagle.
Money was tight, so I'm surprised that we had comics, but I did love Tuesdays.

We had Sunny Stories, and always the Beano which my Dad had ordered for himself before any of us were born. When I was about 10 I had June and Schoolfriend, and then Jackie.

Grayling1, I used to sneak a read of Woman`s Weekly, but I got a clout once when I asked what a womb was!

I loved Rupert Bear and I wanted to be Tiger Lily with a father called The Conjuror in Nutwood !

I remember collecting Bunty and Judy with Woman's
Weekly for my Grandma from the Newsagents . Buying stuff for Grandma meant that I could have all sorts of illicit things .

My mother read The Lady and we had Horse and Hound .

Later , I wanted to read Jackie and my mother said that it was far too racy and common !

Then came , Petticoat and there was no way that I'd not get a copy .

I don't remember having a comic but I do remember getting the Rupert annual at Christmas.

I used to read Jackie at a friend's house and did ask my mum if I could have it too. I knew the answer would be no. A waste of money according to mum.

I'm glad it wasn't just me Sara.

Girls Crystal and Film Fun

I used to enjoy School Friend which I bought with my pocket money. I also enjoyed reading the Eagle which my bestie's brother got. I liked Dan Dare - even as a kid I was a scifi fan.

My gran bought me a Rupert annual every Christmas, I loved books and reading, but I really did not like Rupert Bear

I always thought Rupert was a bit weird. Scary even. Im not sure why!

I remember Walter Hottle Bottle, I also had one called Playhour I think, then a bit later Diana, then of course, the one and only Jackie.
There was one with a story of an Indian Brave who had to pass a set of challenges, but I think he had been poisoned, so his sister secretly did them, I loved that.

This brings back the memories! I do remember Jack and Jill - and Walter Hottle Bottle. I did get Bunty and Judy too, I think, although not always every week.

First comic I had was "chick's own" probably around 1950. The words were split up to make reading easier. There was also a similar one which I think was called 'Rainbow' and my grandad would sometimes buy a copy for me.
Later School Friend and my sister had Bunty and we also used to get the annuals as Christmas presents. Later, when a teenager - it was Romeo
