I must admit to really enjoying the programme. Teen First Dayes can be especially touching.. Sometimes an initial impression of someone may be changed by knowing something of their story. A granddaughter urges me to apply but sadly I fear that boat has long sailed!

Ha ha TerriBull - only just reading about it here... I immediately thought she was a well known burlesque dancer or stripper or something grin

There was a couple a few weeks back who got on famously, I thought, but she decided not to see him again.

Then, at the end, it said that she realised she had made a mistake, and they had been on a few more dates. 🙂

Aveline

It's uncomfortably voyeuristic somehow.

I think it's the same as all these "reality" programmes. So long as nobody is being taken advantage then I'm usually OK with it. Even celebrity ones where they're maybe not as sharp as others, it's a little unfair for the purposes of viewing figures. When I'm not genuinely invested in someone's happiness on a programme like this, I'll stop watching.

Never heard of it. Doesn’t sound my type of viewing - the title alone is enough.

It's great when you see a couple who have a real spark.

Or sometimes, you can see something has been said that has ruined everything before it has even begun.

The awkward silences, the people who babble too much because they're nervous, it's all good viewing.

I usually have a little cry if I see a couple really connect smile

I've never fancied watching this. The snippets they show on Gogglebox puts me off. Seems cruel.

Thanks MissA - I think I’ll give it a go .

I don't watch this programme but I was just drawn to the opening post "What do you do for a living?" and the reply "don't you know?" That's a pointed response and in spite of what the woman thought, her programme is very niche, I can't imagine who would watch it, so the man could be forgiven for possibly thinking she was suggesting she did something quite risque.

It is different from the blind date set up.

Couples have already been sort of matched, before they meet.

Their first date is at a restaurant, with it being filmed.
It's a good show for people watching.

No, I haven’t . Is it a Blind Date type of programme? I loved that and did not miss one episode. I miss Cilla a lot.

MissAdventure Tue 20-Feb-24 19:21:25

I thought her date was a very nice seeming person.
A bit of a catch, considering he was very well off, too.

She didn't fancy him though, and I was surprised he found her attractive at all, because I thought she was nothing special

I did watch it when it first hit the screens but not anymore. Now it’s not about romance but how bizarre you can be.

SeaWoozle Tue 20-Feb-24 19:12:53

Have seen First Dates before but not this episode. What a twerp. She's a bit miffed, isn't she?! Clearly they've been put together to cause a bit of a stir! Ordinarily I quite like the programme (haven't seen it for ages though) but celebrity stuff is beyond me. I just don't care!

Beechnut Tue 20-Feb-24 19:01:27

Yes, I watch it sometimes and I didn’t know who she was.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 20-Feb-24 18:55:44

Yes I saw this episode which was amusing. Until I saw in the press about this I had no idea who she was.

I haven't for a long while but have just switched on & am viewing an episode from January 2024.

To say I am absolutely amazed , I want to say "gobsmacked" to be watching this and seeing a Woman of indeterminate age with pumped lips, her date is a particularly good looking ,well spoken ,well educated man (in my opinion)
My point is , He asked her "what she does for a living"?
her response " don't you know"?
him "No"
At this point she was most put out as ,she then said she thought "as he lived in Manchester "he would know..!
She is on the programme called "Cheshire Housewives " or some such rubbish (my opinion)
As I say I was amazed .........🥹
