Does anyone have a favourite Easter egg ? My son's love the peanut butter ones. I love the wispa ones and my daughter...., Anything as long as it has chocolate ! .Hubby can't have as he's diabetic. Yes I know it's weeks till Easter, but it's just something fun to talk about.

I bought a small Cadbury's one today as I passed through the supermarket on my way to pick up prescriptions. It will not last the weekend.
My mother will be turning in her grave.

As a small child my grandad, who lived next door, used to lift me and my sister in through his lounge window and give us "treats". In the weeks leading up to Easter these were little Easter eggs filled with soft caramel. They were wonderful. Later I loved various Cadbury's eggs but I went off Cadbury's chocolate a good few years ago as it just didn't taste right any more. Now Galaxy or Lindt eggs are my favourite. I was never a fan of Thorntons eggs. As my birthday falls on Easter weekend I think I might expect at least one egg.😋

Used to love a cadbury egg but i no longer by cadbury chocolate since all their recipes have changed.

smile
I'm not really a chocolate eater (meaning of course I'll eat it, if it's there)

Soft and squidgy or cold and snappy, though.

I can't decide.

So, do people like their chocolate cold, from the fridge, so it makes a cracking sound when you break it, or all soft and bendy and melty at room temperature?

Oooooo, cold thin snappy chocolate (this is not helping me resist)!

MissAdventure Fri 23-Feb-24 18:43:12

Never heard of them! grin

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Feb-24 18:42:20

It’s Bettys GSM I think they’re quite well known?

Blimey Jax, £38.50 for an M&S egg?

MissAdventure Fri 23-Feb-24 18:38:44

Oh yes.
The top and bottom parts were especially thick, too.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 23-Feb-24 18:37:45

Yes. Wonderful. And the chocolate was much thicker then.

I haven’t had one for years. I remember when I was a child some had lovely sugar icing flowers on them and were wrapped in cellophane. I usually treat myself to a little bag of Cadbury’s mini eggs.

My nan used to buy me those sort.
Cellophane tied with a little bit of curled ribbon at the top.

Any and all….last week, I bought 10 Easter Eggs for family as they were half price, I am considering getting sponsored to NOT EAT THEM….they are sooooo calling to me!

I admire your willpower. In a weak moment I ate my grandson's Easter Egg and have had to replace it. blush

I like Cadburys hollow egg with buttons. Has to be buttons. Chilled in the fridge. Eat the buttons first, then crack the egg. No chocolate tastes better than broken Easter egg chocolate.

Others' views may vary 😋

I have loved Thornton’s easter eggs all my life (we lived not far from the factory so grew up with their toffee and chocolates), but they don’t taste remotely as nice these days. I don’t even know who owns the firm anymore.

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Feb-24 16:32:58

This is pretty and ££.
Another one not fussed about chocolate, so I won’t be having any.

Here is another old one. Aged 90.
Not as pretty but still beautiful:

I can't remember the last time I had an Easter egg. I buy them for my grandchildren even though some are grown up. Favourite is Cadbury Crunchie large egg but I think any large egg would do 😊

This is the closest I can find:

I like beautiful traditional hand-wrapped eggs involving lots of fabulous papers, ribbon and flowers (best are the velvet ones) I just love looking at them but haven'tseenthem for years. In the past have been known to keep them all year.

Don't know what happened to them.
I suppose they may have them in an artisan shop somewhere.

JamesandJon33 Fri 23-Feb-24 16:15:50

Yes …. Big ones

Theexwife Fri 23-Feb-24 15:49:45

Cadbury, I do not like the bars of dairy milk anymore but the Easter eggs taste different.
