Thank you.

So many replies to my question! Thanks everyone.
I test drove an automatic yesterday and loved it!
Always liked a Honda Jazz so I’ll be the proud owner of a shiny black automatic one next week!

I love cars and driving, we do a lot of road trips and touring at home and abroad, I’ve driven trucks, tractors, even a combine harvester.

You’ve been rumbled, Marydoll! 😂

Unfortunately! 😉

You ladies seem to know so much about cars 🚙 🚗 🚘👍

I drive both and find both easy to drive. My polo is manual but my dhs truck is automatic and I easily jump from one to the other .
My AC both live in London and driving up to see them is much easier in an automatic .

It’s not possible to have a secret love affair when you own a yellow car! 😂

Hence the true reason for changing my car! 🤣

Your dh’s comment reminds me of a friend’s husband, Marydoll. Once they reached about 50-ish, whenever they bought anything new he’d say ‘That’ll see us oot’! My friend always then commented ‘Not if I have my way, it won’t.’ And she get a..y did get her own way. grin

What I should have said is that he can see my car leaving the drive from the golf course, it is so distinctive.

Marydoll Thu 29-Feb-24 19:54:57

Mine is yellow Honda Jazz too, the only one in town. Everyone knows it is me!
I was driving behind a Royal Mail van this morning and a hand waved out of the driver's window.

DH tracks me from the golf course, --especially when I am not supposed to be out-'. 🤣

We have a yellow car too, we will be sorry to see it go. It’s great to be so visible!
It’s a Honda Jazz and our new automatic will also be a Jazz. The new one will be a hybrid.
Wish there was a yellow option, but it’s likely to be red. The only other available colours are black, very deep blue or a greyish white.

I used to drive big cars but no need for one now I don't work.
DH's is too big for scooting around our already congested town.

I set a budget because as DH said without thinking what he was implying: You won't get your money's worth from an expensive car. Because you probably haven't long to go. 😱

I used to have a yellow car, too, Marydoll. I loved it.

Lots of those MG’s round here seem to be driven by ‘school gate’ mums. I guess they’re a good price and very handy for carting round multiple children and their accoutrements. smile

There is a beautiful new bright yellow electric Renault 5 out complete with a baguette carrier. What more could a girl want? 😂😂😂

It’s an attempt to compete with Chinese built EVs priced at 25k euros that’s around £22k, it’s a city car but up to 250ml range. Renault have been selling the Zoe EV for some years the 5 is a smaller cheaper car.

I think we’ll see a lot more Chinese made cars, such as MGs on sale in U.K. very soon. Their manufacturing costs are cheaper and they have the necessary raw materials for batteries readily accessible. Marydoll’s looks very smart.

I think I will now consider an MG when my 14yr old volvo pegs out. They are a reasonable price, look a quality vehicle and have good NCAP ratings and a long warranty. We also have a dealership locally.

Surprised me to know that China is the largest manufacturer of vehicles in the world!!

No good to me - I'm gf!

About a hundred years ago I had a bright yellow Citroën Club.

I have a bright yellow car, sad to see it go! It always raised a smile.

I bet the Chinese ones haven't got a baguette carrier! 😂😂😂
It would work for a bunch of flowers too.

Always thought driving an automatic was 'cheating'! But we bought a hybrid car which is an automatic and I absolutely love it.

My little runaround is not an automatic and because I drive both cars I sometimes forget which car I'm in. It's OK when I try to change gear in the automatic but not so good when I forget to change gear in the other car grin.

At the moment we can't decide whether to change my car in the next year or so, or just get rid of it and manage with one. But if we do decide to change it then I will definitely go for an automatic.

Sago Wed 28-Feb-24 23:42:53

For years we have had a large 4WD auto and a smaller manual.
Unless I’m doing along journey I drive the smaller car.
I changed my manual car last month for a new one and went for the automatic, it’s fantastic, as traffic in our City is getting worse and worse automatic makes far more sense!
I have a manual option for bad weather.
I think manuals will become obsolete.

Marydoll - what a beautiful car, beautiful colour 👌

Thank you. Very sedate for me. My cars are usually quite quirky, but I need to grow up and be sensible, now that I am an old lady.! 🤣

Sue, the salesman told us exactly the same thing. Sales have exploded here too.
I have always driven Hondas, but I couldn't justify the cost to get all the added extras, when DH does most of the driving now.
I am a gadget geek, so I am delighted.
However, I am quaking at the thought of driving it home. The retail park is a nightmare to negotiate at the best of time and followed by a drive through three towns with zillions of roundabouts and traffic lights. 😱
