For me the mother's day 'treat' would be seeing my lovely son, daughter and partners because they all live a 3 hour drive away. I don't expect anything or take anything for granted - they have their own busy lives with jobs, a baby and all the other commitments people have in their 30's, whereas I'm retired. Maybe it's a family culture thing - my mum never bothered about mother's day, although I'm sure she appreciated getting a card and occasionally flowers, as I do. If / when my adult children show appreciation it's genuine, not from a sense of duty or to avoid upsetting me. I'd love to cook for them all on Sunday or any other day.
