Transgender women and an early state pension.
(467 Posts)Transgender women born between 31 October 1953 and 6 November 1953 may be eligible for State Pension from 31 October 2018 to the date of their 65th birthday.
I’m not sure how I feel about this.

The trouble is that the majority of transwomen have not surgically transitioned or taken female hormones - they have just declared themselves to be female and currently that is enough for them to be assumed to be female. Often this change of identity happens around the same time that a sex crime is committed, and the criminal is recorded as female, and is reported as such in the press, and referred to as female in court. Then the sex offender wants to be housed in a female prison, complete with functioning penis and male hormones, next to vulnerable women, many of whom have been assaulted by men.
Yes I believe that happens but I am not sure you're right about it being the majority. I think there may be a case for setting a dividing line - it's pretty much a common sense issue - but wherever that line is drawn I'd like to think that those on the right side of it were treated with the same care and respect as born women.

I just wanted to add one thing quickly. In this thread someone mentioned trans women committing crimes against born women. I think you do occasionally get a man who isn't really transgender taking advantage of the ability to cross-dress and get into women's spaces. This is a very different type of person to the person born a boy who has always thought of themselves as a girl, and who is taking female hormones that suppress their male sex drive and has either had their genitals removed and reformed into female parts or is languishing on some huge long waiting list to have the operation. You'd be very unlikely to find a real transgender woman committing sex crimes. In fact they are more at risk of being the victims of violence from men.
It would be interesting to know exactly how many will qualify and if this is just the beginning. Will this 7 day window be extended.
Well I was born earlier in that year (March) and I was able to claim my state pension at 63. My friend was born later in the year (June) was able to claim her pension at 64, so perhaps women born later that year (October/November) had to wait till they were 65. I don’t know, just wondering. So would men born in October or November in 1953 have to wait till they were 66? So that this tiny number of people, born in that particular week, be being given an advantage over other men by being brought into line with other women? But what if they were born the week after? I’m afraid I don’t understand the logistics of it at all.

It's a bit odd. It only applies to people born within a tiny window (7days) in one year. Are
realcis women born within those dates entitled to get pension at 65?
It must affect a minute number of people.
(and yes, if it's different treatment from everyone else's, it's wrong)
They can probably identify as being born in that tiny window.

Can people not answer direct questions?
Surely if your beliefs are beyond reproach those answers would be forthcoming
That from you VS is the funniest post tonight. Go back and check how many questions you have either not answered, pussyfooted round or answered the question you wish had been asked instead.
Oh and you questioning other posters’ beliefs?
Wow!
Take the beam out of your own eye before you try and find specks in the eyes of others.
The truth is that Transwomen are male.
All your whataboutery VS, can’t change that.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re claiming to be bi, lesbian, gay TiM or TiW, you can’t change sex.
Trans Women Are Transwomen.

You certainly do all that VS.
I’d give you 0/10 but I’m not that rude.
Are we marking threads out of 10 now. Thats going to be entertaining.

And if only you'd stop it the discussion could move on.
What are you on about now?
Are you going to answer my questions or just keep asking people to answer yours?

I don't have a 'gender identity'. I know I'm a woman because my biology tells me so. I don't know what "feeling like a woman" is because I just feel like me, and that's unlikely to be the same as Doodledog or Galaxy or you. Some refer to women as "cis" and insist that's what I am. Are you going to tell them they're wrong and to stop doing it VS
Still waiting for the links, which upthread you said you always provide when asked.
Answer what. I have lost track.
Galaxy
Who on earth would be so arrogant as to think their views are beyond reproach. Is that what you think about your own beliefs. Crikey.
This is a brilliant diversion tactic, it won't work but it did make me smile
If I believed my views beyond reproach, I would not answer all the questions put to me... That's the logical answer...
So why don't you answer?
I will if you will. My questions have been posted twice on this thread. Please try to answer directly, rather than quoting tropes from the playbook though?

Agreed, Galaxy. I also know a lesbian who suffered abuse when she refused to have sex with a transwoman. It was traumatic.
And people on this thread also believe that there is only XX and XY yet we know that belief is wrong too don't we?
There are a few rare variations on XX and XY but every individual with one of those variations is either male or female and can be identified as such. There is no third sex, if there was there would be a third gamete and there isn't. All mammals, indeed every species plant or animal that reproduces by sexual reproduction has just two sexes. With the exception of some fish none can change sex. No mammal whether human or animal can change sex.
Link to your peer reviewed, respected paper that says being trans is a biological difference please. Won't that be good then when we can do a scientific test to identify real trans people from the fake ones. Funnily enough I've seen quite a few transwomen on twitter who don't welcome such tests, I can't begin to imagine why, can you?
I couldnt care less what you think about my conversations with my friends.
They mostly talk about how there are no spaces available to them which don't include men. And how the 'kind' people have almost achieved what the 'right' never could .
I don’t care who believes that TWAW. Their sexuality doesn’t confer special powers or insight, does it? It is not biologically possible to change sex. The law doesn’t alter that either.
And you have had this conversation with all of them?
They all agree that lesbians dating trans women aren't lesbians?
Sounds a bit elitist and discriminatory to me
So... If lesbians are happy to date trans women, do you think they are actually heterosexual?
I know loads of lesbians
. Its been one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
