Agree with Baggs, also think there are a lot of fake mediums etc out to make what they can. Nothing in nature is wasted we go on some how even if itās as star dust.
Problems in Harry and Meghan Marriage
Expanding on a couple of comments made in other threads, I thought I'd start this one! Is there such a thing as life after death? Do you believe in ghosts? Have you been to a medium? Or is it all "twaddle". Respectful comments appreciated! š¤

Not quite the same thing but..... we got our puppy exactly a year ago, from the very first night she slept all night with the exception of one night. She woke us up at 4am, my husband got up to her and my phone rang within a couple of minutes to say a very dear friend had died that evening. My friend died suddenly, she had not been ill. I find this very odd.
I have seen 2 ghosts, one was a man I knew of but had died before I met him. The second was a friends cat that had died.
When my granddaughter was about 5 she asked my daughter if she would be her mummy the next time she came here
One day we were all walking along our seafront when the same granddaughter casually announced that she had died out there( pointing out to the estuary)
The funny part is, she is the original water baby. Never happier than when she is in the water.
I do believe in the afterlife although I know, to many, this is illogical. Have never seen a ghost or experience any feelings of a presence but have experienced a few very odd experiences following the deaths of DH and my dear Dad.
A few weeks after DH died very suddenly and only in his early fifties a dear friend convinced me to go out for lunch and we then visited a second hand book shop - rickety staircase, thousands of books, endless book shelves. The books were almost without exception stacked so only the spines were visible (so they could store as many as possible I imagine) but on the first bookcase there was one book placed so the front cover was showing. The book was called the same name as DH (not a very common name) and there was a drawing of a dog under the name (DH absolutely adored dogs).
A few weeks later, whilst driving across to visit my friend, I was very upset and still reeling from the loss of DH. I decide to stop the car as I approached the crossroads to give me a chance to calm down and decide whether to turn back or carry in with the journey. A few seconds later I wiped my eyes and the car facing me at the crossroads had a personalised numberplate - my husband's name. I know both could have been coincidences ...
Also other incidences Including one involving my toddler grand daughter. She has always gravitated towards one photo of late DH even though I have several different photos of him and others on display. It was taken not long before he died. If I moved it she would find it and wander round holding it ( this started when I moved house and she was about 1 Yr old). I told her once it was Grandpa, kissed the photo and put it back, thinking no more of it. She only has a few words - Mama, Dada, all done, etc but she does say grandpa which is odd as apart from the first incident with the photo his name wasn't really mentioned. Every time she visits she gets the photo, carries it round, says grandpa and kisses him. A few weeks ago I was changing her nappy on the wide window shelf and she was standing up looking out of the window when she started waving. Very clear view of drive and absolutely nothing there ( we live at the end of a private drive in the countryside). I said "who are you looking at? There's nothing there." and she turned with a big smile and said "Grandpa" before turning back and waving. Who knows? Maybe she could see something I couldn't - I would love to think she could.
I grew up thinking elderly relatives could speak with their dead relatives. Gt gt grannie and her daughter, my great aunt were mediums.
My dad didnāt go with any of that but his strong Christian faith sustained him. He believed in an after life. Mum more of a pick n mix, no doubt her dna link to those mediums played a part. She believed in reincarnation, much in the Buddhist tradition
My youngest daughter saw a medium in India, abiut 10 years ago on her gap year travels. This Indian medium told her a lot of detail about our family he couldnāt possibly have known
I donāt know but occasionally I feel the presence of my husband strongly
A friend did see a medium who knew details she could not possibly the known, friend came out as white as a sheet, tragedy was foretold and it happened. Her husband had cancer and died young, whether you believe or not I do not want to know in advance of tragedy and having to worry about it.
Iām not sure about any afterlife but if there is one I want to come back as a man, Iāve done the woman thing and want to find out what Iām missing.
I do have a church background which very much frowned upon to speak of anything like this.
Never seen a ghost (and don't want to!) but a weird thing happened after my mother-in-law passed away in her own home and two days later there was such a strong smell of her perfume being Tweed which she always used and the smell was in my bathroom. Just couldn't work it out, didn't like Tweed personally but very odd and weird.
I might be a bit strange, because I don't believe in 'life after death' as such, but several things that I have experienced in the past have led me to consider that the past and the present might somehow overlap at times, either fleetingly or over an indefinite period of time, leading to encounters with what we could only really describe as ghosts.
I've told this story on here before, but I'll repeat it for those who haven't read it.
I worked as nurse in charge of the night shift in a nursing home.
One night, while having a break, a carer from the floor below came up to ask me a question. While we were talking she said that a man was standing behind me. She described my maternal grandfather exactly as I remembered him. She even told me that his hair turned white by the time he was 40.
I couldn't wait for morning to come so that I could go home and ring my mother and ask her.
She told me that my grandad was 40 when she was born and she only knew him with white hair.

I think she was outed as a fraud.
Yes, I thought so too.
I think she was outed as a fraud.
I remember years ago, reading books by Doris Stokes, who was quite a famous medium, I believeā¦
I definitely believe in life after death. I have been to several different medium events. I go with two friends who are both desperate to hear from their deceased loved ones but itās always me who gets picked out wherever we go.
Last summer we went to one and honestly the stuff he told me was so accurate I was blown away. My Mum came through so clearly and said she was so upset when her mind went because she knew what she wanted to say but couldnāt get it out. She said she is her old self again now and looking after 2 babies. There was no way he could have known Mum got dementia or that I had lost stillborn twins many years ago. I found it very comforting.
Iāve been to some a amazing mediums
Theyāve helped me immensely
As a practising Christian I still manage to believe in a life after this one.
I do not know what form it takes, nor does anyone else. And the gospels do not record the risen Christ having described it, either. If you don't believe, you will probably see this as a confirmation that there is no life after death, and that the disciples either were hallucinating or lying. If you do believe, then you probably like me, feel that we obviously are not supposed to concern ourselves with the details of it - just accept the Lord's words "I am the Resurrection and the Life"
Down through the ages, various people, both saints and quite ordinary people have believed they had been vouchsafed visions of heaven, hell or pugatory. Whether these were genuine, wishful thinking or fantasies, I cannot pretend to say,
My knowlege of the Bible includes the warnings against trying to forsee the future, which has satisfactorily stopped me from ever wanting to consult a medium.
If there is a life after this one, then it is not unbelievable that ghosts, whatever they are, do exist. I grew up in a house that had a "presence" that could be called a ghost, and have as an adult lived in a flat that had a completely harmless little ghost - a black cat, seen by many others than myself, and I had not mentioned to any of them that I knew she was there.
There are fake mediums yes, and they can use trickery to glean information from their clients. But there are also genuine mediums, although their abilities vary.
Communicating with the spirit world has been described like tuning a radio and hearing the channels come and go until you get a good signal. Some may pick up a good signal and a clear message, others may get a poor signal and a garbled message with names unclear. Hence the inability to get the right name sometimes. It depends on the clarity of the signal and the ability of the medium.
So don't think of them as all being fakes. Some are just better than others, just as some musicians are better than others. Someone learning the piano would not be able to play in a concert.
Also, some people in general have a sixth sense and may see or feel a presence, whilst others see or feel nothing because their 'psychic eye' is not open, and I'm one of those although I believe totally in spirits. There are far too many unexplained things in the world.
Infra sound is often associated with ghost occurrences The research suggested that an infrasonic signal of 19 Hz might be responsible for some ghost sightings. This is below normal human hearing it has been detected in many places that supposedly are haunted
I think it might be likely that some people are more receptive than others
I was at a friends friends house in north London. Friend had popped up to toilet and I saw something out of the corner of my eye and startled. Oh you can see it too came the comment What said first friend. As she returned Her friend winked at me and said a mouse never did get to discuss it

I want to believe in life after death, it was very much in keeping with my upbringing, but it's a hope rather than a blind faith. I have an open mind about ghosts, from the testaments I've read I think there are some unexplained supernatural presences.
Such beliefs are personal, I would never challenge anyone else as to what they believe or don't believe. We all reach our own conclusions about such matters.
I agree with what you say.
On the subject of mediums tho, I donāt believe they know anymore than we do.Some may genuinely believe they are in touch with the other side and the others view it as a moneymaking enterprise.
My lovely deceased husband was a police officer for 30 years and was a straightforward no nonsense type of man. Everything had to have evidence and reasoning. Definitely a sceptic with no religious leanings whatsoever.
He had been battling stage 4+ colon cancer for 6 years at the time, with horrendous side effects from repeated chemo and surgeries. He was still able to shower etc and dress himself but it took ages and then he would come downstairs and rest as it completely wore him out.
One morning he came down beaming. Such a look of peace and light on his face. I was shocked and trying not to show it asked how he was.
He said āmy grandad just spoke to me. He told me it will be alright Paulie, Iāll be waiting for youā. The voice came out of nowhere. My husband said he hadnāt thought of him in years so was really shocked.
His grandad had died 40 years before. Due to a crappy family situation his grandad was the only one who loved and was loved by my husband.
Whatever happened it lifted my husbandās soul and when he died a year later I too found it comforting.
I dont believe in any of it, there used to be someone, american, that offered a million dollars to any mediums that could prove they were genuine, nobody received the million dollars.
I hope for the best and prepare for the worst, but I cannot decide what is the best - an afterlife or oblivion or what is he worst - oblivion or an afterlife.
I've had things happen to me that i cannot explain
I know dreams have had impossible to know things come true for me. I will always believe in something more being out there. But also very aware and wary of charlatans.
Iām not convinced by mediums. I believe they can glean pieces of information and use that along with educated guesswork to convince people they are contacting the deceased.
I do believe in an afterlife, and I definitely believe I saw my brother the night of the day he had died - Iāve never seen him since, and of course, it could have been my young mind playing tricks, but it was so clear and so real to me, and remains clear in my minds eye to this day.
However, I think thereās a lot more to ātimeā than we really understand - I donāt believe it is purely linear (we humans created time as we know it, split into seconds, minutes, hours, days, etc). So, when we āseeā visions it might be that we are somehow, briefly, slipping into the time they were or will be alive.
I have an open mind about such things but would dearly love my father to present himself to me in some form. He died 17 years ago, but we left a lot of things unsaid,at least I did šŖ
I was estranged from him for over 10 years because he didnāt like my lifestyle (alcoholic beenin recovery now for quite a few years)
I do think he wouldāve gone to his grave without speaking to me again. If my brother hasnāt got cancer and subsequently died. He did contact me when Jimmy was very ill and for three years before his own death, we did have some sort of relationship.
I very often sit here and say ādad I need to speak to youā, but nothing happens šŖ
