Good Morning Wednesday 13th March 2024

Good morning from a bright Suffolk after torrential rain yesterday resulting in flooded lanes and even soggier fields and gardens. Farmers around us say they have never seen such wet weather ever.

I enjoyed a long catch up and coffee yesterday with a close friend and today am having lunch with another friend. We are going away together on a trip to Eastbourne next week with a local coach company. She is widowed and wanted a holiday but didn’t fancy going alone. DH is always supportive of any plans I make so I can go off with a clear conscience. He is happy with the dog for company for a few days.

My friend and I always enjoy the same sense of humour so a lively time is forecast!

Looking forward to some sun hopefully soon but at least the longer days are enjoyed.

More clearing yesterday, our conservatory now resembles a jumble sale. Managed to move the empty wardrobes enough for me to squeeze behind to clean and paint the skirting boards.

A day off today. Some errands to do, a snack lunch while we’re out maybe. This evening we’re meeting the family for a pub meal to celebrate elder granddaughters 18th birthday. We’ll skip their later plans to decamp to a pub within walking distance of their home. Can’t keep up with their socialising. Poor old souls.

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire a bit grey but dry…. We have friends stopping at mo and after breakfast we are off to the local garden centre for a wander around and coffee. Just taking the day as it comes.

Good morning from Durham. It’s warmer today, but rain forecast. I’ve outside jobs that need a few fine dry days.
Coffee this morning with a friend, a bit of housework, then I’ll head to DD2’s later and collect her laundry and bring Little Dog back for his usual sleepover.

Good morning all and we’re up early. Dh has a physio appointment at 8. We don’t hold out much hope as he ll just give him a sheet of paper with excercise on which Dh won’t do.😤.

I must go back to Specsavers as my new glasses just aren’t right and then I’m meeting up with 11 old friends for lunch. We all met at Pram Club nearly 50 years ago. We were all Young Wives members and now Old Grannies club 😂. It’s so lovely to keep in touch with friends that go way back. We all used to go on caravan holidays together as well , so the kids all played together and are still in touch regularly.

Cleaners here in a little while and DH is off to the gym. Today is DGS3's 17th birthday (and one of my favourite son's in law too) so we have to nip to Derby to see the birthday boy after s hool. I think we may meet him girlfriend for the first time.

What a strange dream I had last night! I was driving a van load of cats and kittens around Oxford and trying to find my way home.
I think I’ll have a baking day. I did a lot of WI admin yesterday and will do more at the weekend. So, Easter is around the corner which always means some kind of chocolate cake.
It is the local History Society tonight. I’ll probably go on my own as OH is driving to Windsor to buy some beekeeping supplies and will be worn out.
Thanks for the comments on my stained glass lantern. I can’t believe I managed to make it, but I did!

I watched tennis until 10.30pm last night, then set the alarm for 2am so I could watch more tennis. I’m now with the boys and wondering how long I’ll last as I’m pretty tired! Serves me right. 🎾

I’m off to the gym this morning for a couple of classes and then this afternoon picking up DGD from school to bring her back for her sleepover. I think we’ll cook something together for dinner tonight as she seemed to enjoy doing that last week

Wednesday morning coffee meetup as usual.
We are getting our free loft insulation top up today. For some reason they have to fit trickle vents to the windows that don't have them in order for us to qualify for the insulation grant, so I am expecting a bit of upheaval.

Whitewave my delphiniums are slow to make a move this year, but the lupins are racing away. Writers group at the library this afternoon, and I’m still trying to finish a poem. Yesterday's chore was some emotional decluttering. It turned up letters and photos from my childhood which I have saved, but I decided to part with piles of things I've kept for years.
I want to be in a position to move house in the next year or two. My volunteer helpers are doing the heavy work.
Today yarn group and community lunch.

Good morning from south Glos, it’s damp but not cold here but I suspect rain isn’t far away.
Yesterday I gave up and went back to bed in the afternoon, it was cosy and I had a snooze, thankfully I slept better last night.
Today I want to start some art journalling, playing with the different mediums and materials I have accumulated.
Dog walk first and some housework then the day is mine. DH is very tetchy at the moment so the dog and I will stay out of his way!

The double drawer air fryer arrived yesterday it’s going to be fun using it, my evening meal will be cooked in it today, fingers crossed I get it right.

Good morning from a dull South Downs. Very mild night and I had a big window open.

Might go to the garden centre today. The wet winter has seen off my delphiniums - all but one which I shall dig up and pot up to help it recover. I shall compost and feed the ground heavily then add a load of grit. Then replant.

Seed sorting today, I have a few raised beds for tomatoes and veg and I will empty two of my small hotbins as soon as the sun entices me out, maybe today but maybe not

I am knitting colourwork pyjamas for mouche bears brother, first mouche is wearing dungarees. I have also planned on making alphonse pig. Small needles and great care needed, it is being a good project to pick up now and then for a short time. It fits in well with my pottering mode

After an early blood test yesterday (7.30a.m!) I went back to sleep so failed to post on the GM thread. Later I went to Props where the task was to cover some conservatory furniture seat cushions in need of TLC. Not being a needle woman (I wrote sewer initially but that could be read as something else entirely!!) I supported the team by making coffee.

At school when it came to choosing options (one choice was twixt Needlework, Woodwork or Music) the nasty teacher proclaimed, “It's to be hoped you have some talent for Music because you have absolutely none for Needlework!”

Luckily, I wanted to take Music! But I’m envious of those with sewing skills such as many skilled ladies who post on here. In adult life, I did hand stitch a few pinafores (cut down from old clothes of mine) when we adopted our first daughter as she had few clothes and we were struggling financially when I gave up work. No adoption leave available nor financial assistance.

That gym is remarkably cheap NannyJan - thought I did well with €25 a month for the one I frequent in Spain!

Good morning from Bristol. I hope today is less unpleasant than yesterday. DD who cycles with Iris to school, said that the Avon overflowed onto the road! Being higher here, we didn’t have that problem, though the drains and gutters were working really hard.
I finished the piccalilli, it made 12 pots. It always seems disappointing that a full preserving pan should produce so few pots. They are now in the dark for at least 6 weeks to mature.
Very full day today. I’ve got a chap coming to sort out a PoA, then my book group, my chiropodist visiting and finally, the Lent Bible study group this evening.
Has anyone heard from Ash? She hasn’t posted for a couple of days.
