Good Morning Everyone,
Still dark with signs of overnight ran here in brackley this morning.
My usual routine of things bus to Bicester , plus yesterday had a email as to a west end show , the coach firm who do the trips took note of my suggestion as to going to see Phantom in London , they have chased it up and have given a date and now taking bookings for later this year.
Me apart from usual routine a quiet day.
Take Care,
Mick

How devastating, gMattie, if this can happen to you it can happen to any of us. Do hope you can sort it quickly and are not too upset by it all.

Beechnut Fri 15-Mar-24 08:29:19

GM so sorry to hear this 💐

Good morning everyone from Severnside.

Kalu Fri 15-Mar-24 08:34:05

Good morning from Glasgow.

What a nightmare GM! These heartless scammers constantly pop up and are so sophisticated with their bait. I was almost caught out too recently, supposedly by Apple telling me a virus had hit my phone and I to urgently change my security provider. It was so professionally done, I was panicking about security but at the last minute I decided to delete the message.

You will be in shock but the police and bank will support you through this as will your family. (((((Hugs))))

Taichinan Fri 15-Mar-24 08:34:18

grandmattie I'm so sorry. I know it's no comfort, but I almost got caught by that one a few years ago. These fraudsters can be so convincing. I felt sick for days afterwards so I understand how awful you feel 🤗

lixy Fri 15-Mar-24 08:34:32

GrandmaMattie so sorry to read your horrible news. I hope your bank will work their socks off to get things sorted out for you. Scammers really are the scum of the earth.
Please try to not feel guilty in any way; these are super-nasty clever people.

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Mar-24 08:45:10

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy (again!) Carlisle.

So shocked and sad to read your news this morning grandMattie. With all the other recent events in your life, you must be truly stressed. I hope you are getting all the practical and emotional support you need.
I used to think I could spot a scam, those times are long past as the criminals are so clever now. Thanks for telling us, we need to be constantly reminded that none of us are safe.
I hope you get your money back, and promptly.

harrigran Fri 15-Mar-24 08:53:18

Grandmattie so sorry it can happen to any of us. Thinking of you.

JenniferEccles Fri 15-Mar-24 10:08:15

GrandMattie I was so sorry to read that you’ve been a victim of a scam. You always come across as such a kindly person, always ready to help others so it does seem particularly unfair.
Not that anyone deserves to be targeted of course.

I have read several times about a scam whereby the hoaxers claim that bank staff are involved in fraudulent activity and seek the help of someone they have targeted. From what you have said it sounds as if this is the one you were involved with.
It’s particularly clever because it effectively cuts off any checks with the bank that victims of any scam would normally have.

It’s encouraging that the police are involved so it’s obviously being taken seriously in your case.

Aldom Fri 15-Mar-24 10:26:41

Dear GrandMattie I am so sorry you are going through this dreadful experience. I hope the bank will reimburse you. I can only guess at the stress you are under.
Please, Gransneters, watch the programme Scam Interceptors BBC1 @ 20.30 Wednesday evenings.
The scam which has caused grandMattie to lose all her money is regularly featured on this programme.

Scapa1 Fri 15-Mar-24 10:32:12

Sorry to hear that Grandmattie I can imagine how upset you feel. Hope it gets sorted out soon. Hope your appointment goes well Marydoll you must be exhausted.

Shelflife Fri 15-Mar-24 12:11:29

GMattie, I read on this thread but don't post, but today I make an exception. I am horrified at your devastating news and sincerely hope the bank / police are able to support you appropriately. The shock must be very great indeed! I can well understand why you may not post for a while but please know there are so many people on GN who wish a speedy and successful conclusion to what has happened to you. we are all thinking and sending you strength.

mrshat Fri 15-Mar-24 17:23:39

Dear GrandMattie I am so sorry you find yourself in this dreadful situation. I do hope the Bank and the Police get to the root of the matter and your money is reimbursed, in full, asap. These scammers are the lowest of the low and deserve no mercy. Look after yourself, I am sure you are in a state of shock. Thinking of you and sending positive vibes, love and prayers flowers

LauraNorderr Fri 15-Mar-24 18:01:44

Oh Mattie I could cry for you. You and yours have been through so much and yet you continue to show nothing but care, kindness and generosity to others. This is so very unfair.
I’ll pray that the bank and the police will recover your losses in the shortest possible time.
I’m sure you know that we’re all here for you when you’re ready. flowers

Jamie Fri 15-Mar-24 18:50:25
