Good drizzly morning also from Durham. DH didn’t have a good night,in fact I think 5.30 am is livelier in our house than any other time of the day. I’ve been creeping about so as to let him sleep on and have ordered thermal tights and thermal longjohns from m'ns for our trip to Iceland. Thermal longjohns are possibly the most unglamorous outfit known to man. No roast dinner today as we have the left over Carbonnade Which Isn’t Quite Right to eat up.

Good morning from a grey, damp NE.
DS and GD2 arrived at lunchtime yesterday, ate a meal and went for a walk.
DIL and GD1 had gone to Leeds University for an open day. They were on the train from Durham to York and they said the Newcastle fans were drunk and very loud. They paid for another ticket to return on an earlier train so they did not have to repeat the experience.
GD2 told me all about her trip to a wild animal park during the week, she had lots of photos and one in particular interested me, it was a Binturong. They had also been meeting pythons, shudder, she was totally unfazed while her friend had a fit of the vapours.
We discussed her trip to France next week and then said she was going to Minorca with her friend in August. Her friend is an only child and GD has been invited to join them by the parents. I think they will have a great time, they are two lovely girls.

Good morning all from the foggy Angus coast. The sun popped its head out a few minutes ago, but took one look and went back to bed. Don't blame it - of all the weather we have, this is my least favourite.
Mizuna! Lovely to see you again - I was getting worried. Sorry you've been poorly, but hope you're better now. A sunny Cornish day will be a tonic
Gmattie glad to see you're back too, and with plenty of support. As you will have seen on here, there's several of us who have been affected by this scam in recent years. In my case, I chickened out at the very last moment thank goodness, but it results in so many problems and leaves a very nasty after taste. It's good of you to share with others.
I hope Marydoll feels well enough to post again soon - I don't think we've heard from her since her consultation with her rheumatologist.
On a lighter note - enjoy your trip to your happy place Urms and come back tanned and refreshed and bearing sunshine for all.a
My visit to the relatively new farm shop up the road from me yesterday was - interesting! I expected the usual - piles of lovely earthy fresh veg and maybe a freezer with some home cooking. Instead I came up against a wall of little glass-fronted cubbyholes enticingly showing their various contents but refusing to open. Then I came to a computer. A young girl materialised from somewhere and offered to help.
A list of goodies available came up at the top of the screen. She helped me select what I wanted and then I paid with my card. After I'd done that the various glass-fronted cubbyholes clicked open, allowing me to take my purchases. The whole thing was a totally unexpected experience! As I drove away I thought to myself that I wouldn't be back, but after I'd eaten their Farmhouse beef stew I changed my mind - it was succulently delicious! Oh, and that was another thing - the microwave packaging. You are instructed not to pierce the film as normal and that the package would whistle when it was done. Fat chance of me hearing that, I thought to myself as I trotted off through the house to do something else while I waited. But that whistling was something else! I'm sure it was playing a tune and I certainly heard it! All recycleable packaging too, apart from the covering film. So all in all a great success - and another step towards the 22nd century for me 🤩 which I didn't expect to take on a farm on the east coast of Angus. I can't wait to go back now!
Sausage and mash for tea tonight - the mash comes courtesy of the farm larder and in a whistling container. My inner child is having a ball!

Good morning from a damp & dismal Sefton. For the past week I have woken up to blue skies & sunshine. We have been enjoying a break in Lanzarote with DS2, DiL & DGD2 (aged 4). The weather is just perfect at the moment NannyJan53, have a great time.
Today's plans will be restocking the fridge & having to think about food & cooking (after a week of it being somebody else's problem) washing & (maybe) ironing. Back to reality - Sigh!
Having had a device free week I have only just caught up with grandMattie's horrible experience. These people really are scum. I do hope it can be successfully sorted for her.

The Canadian 🍁 girls have gone to Edinburgh for a day of culture and walking. They will bring me back some cheese from Stockbridge market. 🧀

I had the pottery class yesterday, packed the kiln so today 3 or 4 of us will work in the warm pottery studio.

Good morning everybody from south Manchester where it’s raining at present. I’m off to the airport by taxi in a couple of hours. I’m excited , nervous and apprehensive about Himself in equal measure. This will be a trip of mixed emotions for me that’s for sure. I hope I’m doing the right thing by going. We plan to FaceTime each other frequently - to reassure me that all is well. Himself says ‘just enjoy yourself and be careful’. I shall miss him very much. I can’t believe I’m leaving him. Back Friday lunchtime. I need to have faith now and Look Forward.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a greyish Carlisle where the sun is doing its best to get out.
I was in Sainsbury's early yesterday....it was unusually busy. That was due to the tills not taking cards and holding everyone up as many were having to dash outside to use the ATM. I had my card declined twice but fortunately had cash on me though that meant rescanning my goods.
Today I'm intending to go for a walk shortly as long as it doesn't rain in the next half hour. After that, some admin and then finishing the Sunday papers. Gardening could also happen but I'm not holding my breath.

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast. Nice to see *Grandmattie”s post and hope everything settles down on that score.
DD arrived from the south and after an hour or so, went off to best friend’s 50th dressed Madonna style with help from my collection of pearls and crosses. Such energy…I stayed in and started watching an old series, Martin Chuzzlewit, excellent.

I’m booked into an art workshop this afternoon so will see what that produces and cook a turkey crown out of the freezer.

Good morning another sunny day here, temp expected to be 25 degrees, but a breeze usually starts late afternoon.
Another day of reading, sitting by the pool and not doing very much.
The lovely neighbour who gave us a cup of tea when we first arrived (we were given the wrong key code and had to wait for the office to answer the phone) is moving out today, she is a resident and has a whole house to move along with her disabled Mother, a dog and 2 cats, all being done by friends with vans! I don’t envy her.
This part of the Island has many many new builds all with very low walls all around the properties so you can’t escape knowing what your neighbours are up to. It doesn’t suit me but as all the properties are snapped up as soon as they are built it must be a popular idea.
We are ‘house hunting’ on Rightmove whilst sitting by the pool……

Good morning from a grey drizzly Suffolk after a full day of sunshine yesterday.

It was good to see gM posting again and being able to use her horrendous experience to think of others.

I am off to Eastbourne tomorrow for a 5 day break with a dear widowed friend of mine who wanted a holiday but doesn’t want to go alone. I’m sadly not expecting the warmth and sun that Urms will have on her well deserved break.

DH will be happy at home with our little dog for company and AC will probably phone him more regularly than usual. Dog walking is a sociable activity around here so he’ll have as much social contact as he chooses,which usually is quite limited.

I will take a break from posting whilst away but will be thinking of you all and hope life is positive for all.
