A neighbour, a well heeled Dr, invited us and around 20 other locals, to the evening reception for his daughter’s wedding in a magnificent marquee in the garden. The speeches had over run so we were herded into the hallway of the house to wait. Once allowed into the marquee we were directed to the bar where we were expected to pay bar rates. Oops. No cash. DH popped home for ££. The rain started, it was freezing, nothing happened as it was obviously an interlude in the proceedings. After an hour of thumb twiddling, we looked at each other and made our escape under the flap of the marquee scurrying down the drive & over the fence home like a couple of 2nd class absconders to warmth, feet up, food and the telly. Quickest wedding do ever.
