Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s a showery day up here in Inverness, when the suns out it’s quite warm but the showers keep coming so I’m not getting much washing dried or gardening done
Sounds like a really lovely afternoon Rosies - is the picture where you sat with your coffee? It looks lovely
We got the DGC off to school this morning without too much trouble, it’s not half term here but DD1 and family are all off to Croatia for a week in the sunshine - lucky things!
Hoping the soops and annsixty are doing ok today
Take care all x

Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for kindly folk.
(1001 Posts)Here we are again...all good pals and jolly good company.
Enjoy the celebration buffet. Please continue to make our kitchen a special meeting place.
A group hug awaits every Granspal.
and LOVE.
I am so sorry to hear of all Soop and Mr S are going through, but very happy for you that you made it to your lovely family reunion. I bet wild horses wouldn’t have stopped you though!
If I mention anybody by name I hope anybody I miss won’t take it amiss but I find it hard to keep up with you all. But Gingster and her D have been in my thoughts- we would all of us take anything on ourselves than see our children ill wouldn’t we?
What a lovely wedding venue Jaxjacky I hope a wonderful time was had by all.
Now with all this talk of picnic tables I was inspired to have my coffee outside! It’s hardly tropical but very pleasant in the sun. I’m meeting a friend at Castle Ashby Shopping Courtyard in a bit, if anybody knows it- a lovely cafe and deli and another couple of nice shops to browse in. And not too far to drive- my heart goes out to all trying to get home after the BH or away for half term and who face those dreadful queues on the motorways.
Thanks Jax
I also agree a group hug is needed Ali thanks
Soop and Mr Soop, I think we need a group hug to keep you going! Get well, very soon both of you 🤗
You’ve worked so hard on your daughter’s house brook fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Wow soop what a time you’ve both had, on and up now for you both.
Good evening kitchen pals, a busy day here, we finished sorting out DD2s house ready for the estate agents pictures tomorrow so there’s not much else we can do now in the short term. The DGC are staying over, we’ve played a game of ticket to ride and they’ve both been good tonight although late to bed 🤦♀️
Poor Mr Soop, that surgery sounds so painful and you too soop that’s all you need now - I really hope both of you are feeling much better soon
Lucky with the bbq Jax sounds like a lovely family day
Love your garden llfl hope you get to use the picnic table soon
The lemon drizzle sounds good grandmabatty
Oh my goodness Soop and Mr Soop. You have been/continue to be in the wars. My very best to you both.
A quiet day for me. I made lemon drizzle cake and I've given away more than half. I've tidied up and visited mum who wasn't in the mood for chatting. I'm thinking of you all
Good evening to you lovely lot.
I have, for the first time in yonks, felt able to log on and visit our comforting kitchen.
I have missed you all, and although I shall not be fully updated for a very long long time, I shall pop in and try to keep abreast of things.
The bronchitis has floored me. I have never spent so much time sleeping, coughing, sweating as I have done recently. The cough is very much improved. I now have the challenge of a UTI and Trush to contend with. The GP's surgery will open again on Tuesday.
Mr Soop was taken to have scalp surgery in Glasgow by a good friend. Several cancerous lesions were removed and biopsies will follow. Skin was removed from his thigh. This was transferred to the raw areas on his scalp. On Tuesday he has to return for a check-up. He was prescribed penicillin. We are both amazed that the prescribed dosage was 4000 mg daily! He has almost completed the dosage. He has, however, developed a significant reddening of one half of his face. His temperature remains normal. He, like me, has dozed throughout the days since he was treated. He remains positive and wonderful with it.
I send my love and all good wishes to my favourite Granspals. I will attempt to return to our kitchen more frequently now that I'm on the mend.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday Monday.
Hi all, it’s so ready to be used llfl come on sunshine, it really isn’t a very cheering start to the summer thus far.
We were fortunate with the weather today, family bbq, breezy with sunny intervals, we then watched football, MrJ was outnumbered by the winning team’s supporters (that’d be everyone else in my family)!
No need for dinner, but guess what we’re eating tomorrow 🙂
I hope soop is now feeling better and you are improving Yia
Enjoy your evening all
It’s been a gorgeous warm sunny day here in Inverness, lots of washing dried outside at DD2s and lots of cleaning done. I’ve been out most of the day and feeling tired now, just a bit more to finish off tomorrow and then we’re done and ready for the estate agents on Monday
A beautiful wedding cake Jax thanks for the picture
Doodle ❤️
Oh Doodle. x
I’ve been for a walk in the sunshine with a friend. We stopped for an ice cream at the little cafe and gradually made our way home. A pleasant afternoon but I miss DH being here when I get back.
Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been a beautiful sunny day here, though the wind is chilly. I have been quite lazy, hung some laundry in the breeze, waved at some trains then listened to my book. MrB has been pottering around the garden and shed.
You are definitely super Grandmabatty, hope you’ve had a good rest.
Gorgeous cake Jax.
Yia
.
Love and best wishes to you all.❤️
‘Evening All’.
So many red shirts in Urmston tonight ha! Like a higher stakes local derby - just at Wembley! Last weekend it was loads of pale blue shirts on the train station platform opposite us, going into Manchester City centre as City had won the premiership! ⚽️
Anyway, I’m delighted tonight for Himself. He’s supported Man. Utd since before I met him when he was only 19y as his family lived only three sets of traffic lights away from the stadium. He used to watch Dennis Law, Nobby Stiles and George Best ‘back in the day’. Man & boy eh? Especially poignant, these time limited days. I felt especially happy for him.
Hello kitchen people.
That looks an amazing cake!
I spent most of the day reading. I finished The Dictionary of Lost Words, which was brilliant.
OH introduced two new Queens to his hives and will check tomorrow that all is well.
I cooked one of our favourite dinners - pork with mushrooms and cream.
Have a good evening.
Another supergran vote here Grandmabatty I hope you enjoyed your lunch.
I hope that works Yia 🤞
An intriguing mystery trip out corner, enjoyable I expect, with lunch?
A quieter day here, bedding washed and dried, newspaper perused, crosswords to do. Flipping slugs have eaten courgette and sunflower plants, I’m not happy., sweet peas are looking fine, as are other plants.
We watched the Manchester Derby, surprisingly, but deserved result.
Cake from the wedding.
Grandmabatty. I agree you are a super gran, rest up now.
What a horrible experience Corner hope the wine helped.
Thanks for caring Jax not great today so have increased my meds and will take it easy till we go away.Hope all went well with the wedding yesterday.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
Cornergran thank you again 😊. The boys are away home. I can rest for a while before I tidy up. I'm going to have sausage, egg and bacon for lunch as a treat. I might* have a nap this afternoon. Enjoy your day Kitcheners.
*Definitely will
Oh my goodness corner the sleeping gas!! 😂😂
Oh grandmab. I have no wish to argue but you are indeed a super gran.
We once told two of ours that of course they would sleep when they were here as the bedroom had sleeping gas in it. What did they write in their ‘what I did at the weekend’ books on Monday? Oops.
.
Mixed few days here. The battle of the home insurance renewal is complete for this year. Phew. There is a pause in hostilities with our energy supplier. I now have my very own Case Manager. There’s posh as tongue in cheek Mr C says. Sadly a fairly unhelpful MRI outcome was relayed over a very crackly phone line by the arrogant verging on rude person I saw at outpatients. He did suddenly offer onward referral, no I didn’t grovel in gratitude as I’d asked him to do that in March and he’d refused. I am frustrated as he assured me there wouldn’t be anything to me in writing and no, I couldn’t have a copy of the MRI report. Apparently I must as the GP practice. Wish me luck everyone.
Good to see you doodle. The comfy corner is always there
.
Another new era ann. One of ours isnt a communicator, it hurts sometimes. Our teenagers are so busy, they rarely have space for us. Their lives have re-shaped as I guess ours must too.
Time for my second glass of chilled white, to help me think you understand. Mr C wants a day out tomorrow do a day out we will have. Remembering how little he could do last year and how how hard he worked to recover if he wants a day out a day out he shall have. As long as he has some idea of where he’d like to go
.
Sleep well everyone.
Brook I'm not super anything! They are both sound asleep. I shall follow them shortly.
Well done grandmabatty aka supergran! x
Beautiful setting Jax and looks like the sun is shining too - Congratulations to the newlyweds
Sounds like a good day Urms so pleased for you both
Good evening Kitcheners. Both boys are in bed, although dgs2 is making a helluva racket shouting and thumping away. I have been instructed by dd to leave him as he does that at home too. We've had a good day. Lots of playing then we were in the back garden in the pouring rain playing with wet sand. Then we went for a puddle splashing session and a little walk. Afterwards they had a bath then supper. I wish I could have a takeaway but I had one last Friday so a sandwich was all I managed. Fingers crossed that they sleep soon
