There should be a weather forum on this site!

There are about 13 lines in the skies above us today. Never seen so many. Some are very thick.

I am not sure what to believe about them.
Are they just a weather phenomenon?

It is the best day we have had here for a while[I always say on this forum we live "down South"].

fancythat Sun 14-Apr-24 15:29:58

But should there be a difference of 5 times as wide, between one and the other?

And lasting 5 minutes or 3 hours?

Or 5 or 6 crisscrosses?

MiniMoon Sun 14-Apr-24 15:27:26

Above 6km if the air is cold enough condensation trails from aircraft engines can turn into cirrus clouds. They will stay in the sky long after the plane has gone.

It’s not always easy to tell what winds are doing in the high parts of the atmosphere, but that would affect how long contrails last.

fancythat Sun 14-Apr-24 11:42:26

After I wrote the posts, I did see a couple of aircraft. With contrails.
Their water vapour lasted for about 5 minutes.
And was about 5 times thinner than what I posted about.
More or less still the same weather conditions at that point I would have thought.

Brahumbug Sun 14-Apr-24 11:11:53

Contrails are a result of water vapour in engine exhausts condensing out, they are always caused by aircraft, without exception.

There is a conspiracy theory that the government gave us a warm 2020 to make lockdown bearable.

Could they do it again this year please? Especially in Scotland!

MissAdventure Fri 12-Apr-24 17:44:59

It sounds like something from a sci fi film.

Did it used to be done here, then?

Well, it is suspected that experiments with cloud seeding were carried out in the UK which was what caused the terrible floods of 1952 in Lynton and Lynmouth

It's all Top Secret.

I dont think I have heard of cloud seeding before.
Certainly would not have thought definitely real.

Just looked it up and found this

The term 'conspiracy theory' was coined by the CIA to label those who had theories about the Kennedy assassination that ran counter to what was made public. This term was intended to be pejorative and contemptuous, to denigrate those who question the imposed narrative. From Covid to climate change, dissent - nay, even questioning - has been silenced by that dismissive label. Don't buy it! There's too much at stake in the world of today. Where powerful people want to hang on to power and manipulate public opinion, of course there are going to be conspiracies! The question is, how many? And whom do they affect. Please carry on asking questions, about chemtrails, contrails or whatever!

Callistemon21 Fri 12-Apr-24 16:58:48

Cloud seeding is, trying to make it rain when there s drought.

It's used in the USA and other countries but, as far as we're tol, not here any more.

MissAdventure Fri 12-Apr-24 16:54:46

Neither is weather manipulation, apparently.
Or is that the same thing?

Callistemon21 Fri 12-Apr-24 16:53:29

BlueBelle

I ve always thought they were from aeroplanes too

They are.
Unless you're into conspiracies.

Cloud seeding is not a conspiracy theory.

Don't the conspiracy theorists find it odd that, when governments were supposedly spraying us with Covid, vaccines or chemicals, there were hardly any or no trails in the sky? That was because planes were grounded.

Cirrus clouds might look similar too.

I've heard of cloud seeding but I thought vapour trails were just that - vapour trails left by high-flying planes.

It's sunny but hazy today so I can only see two.

Perhaps you could check what flights have been... um... flying?

It's quite interesting when you start to delve into these things.

Sago Fri 12-Apr-24 16:07:28

The weather manipulation is called cloud seeding.
Some believe it’s the cause of all our recent bad weather.

petra Fri 12-Apr-24 13:14:12

Contrails.

MissAdventure Fri 12-Apr-24 13:11:53

She kept a notepad with all the relevant info on it, and compared spreadsheets of times, flights, weather before and after. smile

It kept her occupied and captured her interest.

welbeck Fri 12-Apr-24 13:08:49

wow ! what with manipulation, perhaps there's a link to chemsex after all.
who knows. !
