Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.
From the Telegraph just now:
“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.
Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.
But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.
“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.
I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …
What do you think?
Can Charles trust him, he has attacked William, Catherine and
Camilla
Well I'm pretty sure God wouldn't want us judging Harry. Surely compassion is better.
I believe that despite everything H has done Charles is a loving and forgiving father. He is a devout Christian. However he has a very full diary and he also has cancer. He has only just returned to public duties and I would think that’s pretty exhausting having been wfh for some time. Maybe Camilla put her foot down in order to protect her husband from undue stress. We don’t know. But there was no need for H to have made an issue of there being no meeting when he deigned to come to the UK. I imagine his diary has far fewer engagements than Charles’s.
The parable of the prodigal isn't about the priority of family, it's about God's love for us, His children.
Did the son have a phone hidden
Maybe a bit OTT, 😁 but making the point that family are a priority.
I can't imagine my mother not being there for me no matter what.

But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
That was before the son apologised.
The first time H came to see his father, it was announced to
the world, he was photographed at the airport in America, on
landing in England, video in his car going to Clarence House,
he only does front page
I understand 3nanny6, but unfortunately life isn’t always like that. As I explained, I’ve had to live with my sister’s cruel behaviour over some thirty years or more, and I’ve found in the end that it’s better for my own mental health to have as little to do with her as possible. This grieves me greatly, because she is my only sibling, but I’ve found over years that she cannot alter her cruel behaviour and so I simply have to look after myself. I have a lovely relationship with her daughter though, who I consider as a second daughter. It may well be that Charles needs time to recover, both physically and emotionally from his illness and the hurt that Harry has caused. It maybe that Charles will never wish to be with Harry alone again. It’s not for us to wish or want anything to happen. Charles has to do what he feels is best for himself and his family. If that includes a very remote relationship with Harry, that is his decision, and his decision alone.
I like to think that they could arrange a visit that was private too.
What a mess.
I know that Maddyone and thank goodness I do not have Royal engagements to consider. I still would like to see something that looks like reconciliation between Charles and Harry. Charles has been having his treatment over his recent diagnosis and happily he appears to be on the mend, it was nice to see Harry fly over and spend some time with him when that diagnosis was revealed. Some how when our family could look at ways to spend a little time with each other then it is a bonus to this life after all with illnesses to deal with and increasing age who knows when time can finely close the door to life.
Unfortunately Harry seems very much the product of the
rather dysfunctional, at times, historically unpleasant Spencer family. Earl Spencer treated his first wife atrociously, is estranged from two of his daughters and refused Diana, the much loved maligned sister (??!!) a refuge at Althorp after her divorce. Something she couldn't forgive and was, for this reason when she died, not on speaking terms with him. Johnny Spencer, their father was frankly a horrid man. So Harry, considering his behaviour post Meghan, gravitating to his Spencer family seems exceptionally appropriate. Thank goodness William was born first, and seems a chip off the late Queens block.
I understand what you are saying 3nanny6 but it is not easy for Charles to change his arrangements like we could. It’s impractical to postpone a garden party with hundreds of people invited and all the preparation that goes into it, and his audience with the PM is not readily altered either. Today I believe he’s visiting an army training base for the Royal Engineers, and they will have prepared for his visit for a while. We can easily rearrange a lunch date, or even a dental appointment but the king isn’t in a position to simply change his itinerary in the way we can.
Hi to Smileless, I am just replying to your post mentioning me yesterday (16.38) I understand that pointing out Charles should have unconditional love for his son maybe something that many can not agree with. many hurtful actions can come from the child be they 4 14 or 40 years old but still I do have unconditional love for my own adult daughter. I know hurtful actions push many into estrangement and how each of us finds our way of coping with our own particular problems cannot suit everyone. The trust in a relationship is important and so easily destroyed and feelings are hurt often beyond repair. When I wrote my post I was thinking about circumstances with my own adult daughter and still as a parent I still have unconditional love for her. I have been on the receiving end of horrible abusive behaviour from her which has impacted on my life and also her siblings. In general life has been difficult and dark even for her children. Despite the pain and hurt I keep open communication ties with her, I keep boundaries in place and will only speak to her without any abuse. My daughter unlike Harry is not on the other side of the world however if she was visiting the U.K and asked to see me I would change what appointments I could to give her some of my time, but that is only what I would do and I know many would feel very different.
Did Harry choose the Bible reading?
I thought it a very strange choice for celebrating the achievements of the veterans.
I have just read a sycophantic piece in the Daily Telegraph which is all about family tensions; very little about the purpose of Invictus Games.
Which is standard behaviour for Harry now. Every event, every interview, charity event, taxi ride, going to the supermarket to buy a tube of toothpaste..... every single one is an opportunity for them to bleat on about how unfairly they've been treated, how broken they are, how horrible the world is to them. Rarely, if ever, do they manage to scratch a few words together about the actual event they're there to support. Even the bible reading yesterday had ZERO to do with sportsmanship. He just can't see himself as anything other than a centre staged victim.

I don’t think Annie was being serious.
H was fine until M told him otherwise.
Jealousy can be a very destructive force.
Yes Smileless, these situations are terribly sad, whether it’s the royal family, or any other family. I do feel for Charles and William because I’ve endured similar (thankfully not played out in front of the whole world though) and the same applies to you. In my sister’s case she is also estranged from two of her children and therefore her grandchildren, and though not estranged, never actually sees a third child/grandchildren. I know the same applies to you. Every time Harry pops over to the UK, Charles will feel very torn I imagine. For William it’s easier, like me, he’s made his decision and is living with it.
I remember maddy it was such an awful time for you, on top of losing your mum
.
We've been spared any further abuse, false accusations and histrionics from our ES's wife now we're estranged and of course for Charles and the wider family there is another issue in the current state of the relationship to be considered; Meghan.
Yes, I can too Smileless.
I think it’s sometimes difficult for those who are not estranged to understand the pain of estrangement, and the history which has caused so much pain. The way my sister has behaved towards me has hurt me deeply over many year (she has mental health issues.) I held out an olive branch when our mother was dying and she eagerly grabbed it. I thought maybe we could have a better relationship afterwards but no, she immediately started to make horrible accusations against me about the estate, even to the solicitor who was dealing with it. Luckily he quickly understood how nasty she was being, but after that I decided that I couldn’t cope with her abusive and false accusations and behaviour and that I yet again didn’t need her histrionics and drama in my life. My husband and the solicitor dealt with her after that. It’s sad, but it protects me. I imagine Charles feels much the same way.
I don't think age makes a difference. We're always the parents in the relationship.
Quite right.
Any responsible parent would tell their 39 year old son off for his foolish behaviour which was bringing him into disrepute, and may well have done so, hence the estrangement.
it is easier and less painful to simply avoid contact with the person who is the cause of the pain that's how we feel too maddy about our ES and if that is the reason why they didn't meet, I can totally understand Charles' decision.
It was a spokesperson for H who said he was hoping to see Charles so no Dickens I don't think the media is partly responsible.
Nothing needed to be said but if it hadn't been, there'd have been no spotlight on H's victim hood mentality.
We're always the parent in the relationship true nadateturbe and parents have just as much right as their AC to look after their mental and physical well being.
Being the AC in the relationship, doesn't mean you can treat your parents and wider family so abhorrently and not be on the receiving end of any repercussions. That should be the difference between being a child and an adult child.
If Harry desperately wanted to see his father, he could have stayed a little longer in order to find a suitable time slot. I believe he was only staying in the UK for two nights. It’s obvious that the king couldn’t rearrange a garden party or an audience with the PM. He will also need to build rest periods into every day as cancer treatment is very tiring.
However my guess is that Charles preferred to not see Harry because he has been hurt too deeply. I’m estranged from my sister and therefore I know full well how hurtful the behaviour of others is sometimes, and it is easier and less painful to simply avoid contact with the person who is the cause of the pain.
The young boy’s feelings do not compare with the anguish of
a 39 year old man desperate for headlines , true ?
Have seen in today’s news that a double amputee young boy had to miss yesterday’s garden party, as he was caught up in traffic and was too late.
BP have been in touch, looks like he will be invited to another one.
