Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

That’s why I keep saying they need to work through it themselves MissA.
We are not judge, jury, and executioner.
They are a family and families need to work out what to do for themselves. It appears that Charles did not wish to meet with Harry last week. We should all respect that decision.

I'd kill him if he was my husband and told everyone about my periods!

Some of these speculations add fuel to the fire, though, I think.

Say them often enough and they become "true", and something else for people to get angry about.

Do we know Harry would be incandescent with rage?
Is that our slant on things?

No we don’t, but it isn’t hard to imagine that neither Harry nor Meghan would be delighted.
I can’t imagine anyone would be happy about such personal information being shared worldwide.

I have managed not to see anything except her wearing a nice cream dress thing, and looking glowing, happy and healthy.

That'll do for me.

And yet the thread is 20 odd pages full of Meghan's dress, her feet, her pretending to be of Nigerian heritage, her touching her husbands back...

grin
I thought Meghan delivered well on the wardrobe front .... by that I mean she gave some of us stuff to chat about! (And dont forget Glorianny and I had an indepth discussion on Meghan's gardening gloves last time). Meghan's biggest coup was the Nigerian cloth skirt she put together with a plain shirt. Good on her!

I’m sorry, I’ve missed a few posts. I was writing when my daughter rang from New Zealand, so I’ll go back and catch up on the posts I’ve missed.

Absolutely Annie and Smileless.
I think it’s possible to imagine that you understand estrangement without having experienced estrangement, but actually it’s not, unless you are an extremely empathetic person. Some people are of course, but for most people, the pain is difficult to imagine. To be estranged from your child is worse than estrangement from a sister, and I find the estrangement from my sister painful enough. Estrangement appears to often happen after an adult child marries. Of course this doesn’t apply to me because it was my sister, but I think it possibly happens sometimes after marriage because the new partner cannot accept their spouse’s family and seeks to isolate them from their family. I’m speculating but think this maybe the cause. We had some of this with my daughter and her husband and again, it was painful, but they’re now getting divorced and so her husband was ultimately unsuccessful in his endeavours to isolate her from us.

I still think Charles and William need to make their own decisions about how to proceed. It’s not helpful to suggest that surely Charles could find time to see his son, or that parents should always forgive. It’s not us, it’s them, and they need to find their own way through this without advice from us.

Yes, I do get your point, and I agree with it.
It's just that it is supposition on both our parts.

I was just trying to make the point that he is happy to invade other people's privacy in the most intimate ways but continually bangs on about his own privacy. So we can assume (and I accept it is only an assumption before I am jumped on) what sort of reaction he would have towards such a personal comment.

True Smileless, seems Camilla is on Glorianny’s hit list now
it was the Princess of Wales.

Baffles me how much Defence Megan has, what woman tells her husband she is in contact with his dead mother ?

Sparklefizz Mon 13-May-24 11:15:53

^What did Harry achieve by telling the world the King did head
stands in his boxer shorts to ease pain of an injury?^

.... or all the other tidbits he included, such as telling the whole planet that William had been circumcised?

Can you imagine how incandescent with rage Harry would be if William published details about Meghan's periods, for example?

You don't actually have to say you hate someone for that to be obvious. The level of vitriol meted out whenever H&M are mentioned on here is quite incredible. And I have no axe to grind either way - I've made no secret of the fact that I'm no fan of the RF in general.

MissAdventure Mon 13-May-24 11:10:19

Smileless2012 Mon 13-May-24 11:03:16

Anything we've been 'fed' about H has come from him Glorianny and I don't know why there are the constant references to hate on any threads about H & M.

I don't recall anyone ever saying they hate either of them and I'm not aware of anyone referring to Camilla as a saint either.

Anniebach Mon 13-May-24 10:53:45

Glorianny according to Diana’s butler he knew her unborn
second child was a boy and felt the baby kick when he placed
his hands on Diana’s tummy

Glorianny

Funny no one wants to say they wouldn't like their husband parading in an ex's jewellery.
According to his valet Charles rang Camilla most days during the honeymoon.

‘According to his valet’. Oh dear Glorianny, your interest in tittle tattle about the RF is astonishing given your claimed dislike of them. Why do you bother to read this stuff?

Well as it seems the once hated Camilla has been elevated almost to sainthood I just like to remind people of the stuff they were once being fed about her and Charles.
I wonder if perhaps it might make them consider the stuff they are now being fed about Harry.
It doesn't of course. And the wonderful fake bandwagon with its "good royal" "bad royal" rolls on.

Anniebach Mon 13-May-24 10:45:24

Smiless I can only think how i would feel if I was estranged from my grandchildren but i don’t know the pain.

Harry goes on and on about his father not being demonstrative
No mention that after Diana died Charles took him on a royal
tour so as not to leave him alone.

Camilla condemned for loving Charles yet Diana’s affairs are
dismissed as hurt caused by Camilla, no matter Camilla first
husband was a notorious womaniser .

Smileless2012 Mon 13-May-24 10:32:26

What did he achieve Annie? The humiliation or the very least, embarrassment of his father.

I cannot put myself in your shoes Annie flowers. I only know what it is like to be estranged by the son we adore and from our only GC. For the wonderful relationship we enjoyed to be destroyed by the woman he married but it must be said, not without his co operation.

eazybee Mon 13-May-24 10:02:50

Oh Annie!
Right as always.

Anniebach Mon 13-May-24 09:50:51

Smileless I base my opinion on these facts -

I was widowed age 33, I cannot put myself in the shoes of
someone widowed after many years.
A year before my husband’s death I lost my 3rd baby, years later my darling daughter took her life , the grief of these deaths cannot be compared.

What did Harry achieve by telling the world the King did head
stands in his boxer shorts to ease pain of an injury?

MissAdventure Mon 13-May-24 09:43:52

I'm not surprised he wanted protection.
Gangs of marauding grannies after him. smile

Anniebach Mon 13-May-24 09:42:32

Doubt it MissAdventure he wanted to stay in the royal family part time, he still wanted money, still wanted protection

MissAdventure Mon 13-May-24 09:38:14

Perhaps Harry has estranged Charles and co?
