Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

I think it very shocking that King Charles chose to host a garden party at Buck House the same day as the church service in honour of our military personnel who gave limbs to protect Britain.

It cannot be because of the cancer, because services at church have to be arranged up to a year beforehand. Who is responsible for the rift in the family? Have we as a nation forgotten that the Queen Consort has another family, and no step mother would put step children before her own flesh and blood. It isn't a case of blame or judgement, but one of experience. The Queen Consort - that is what she is and that is what she should be called now, because she will not be queen - not be an anybody - when King Charles dies. No one lives forever. He has shown weakness

It makes you wonder who is in charge? I like Prince Harry. I think he did the right thing. King George V1 had only two children, and Princess Margaret Rose spent her life as a stand in for Queen Elizabeth, and companion to the Queen mother. We saw a beautiful woman unable to live her life as she wanted to. She could not even marry the man she loved.

King Charles has two sons, and Harry saw the writing on the wall. It wasn't his fault there were only two. If William and Harry had had other siblings, would they share the burden of 'standing in'?

He is the head of the Church of England. Having sworn the Oath of Allegiance to the Christian Church of England, doesn't mean he has to be perfect.

Wars between brothers goes back to Adam and Eve's sons, so it isn't something new. Nor is it uncommon. Jesus spoke to the people in parables bringing in common instances the people would be familiar with. When he told the story of the prodigal son, he was describing something common and giving an example of love and forgiveness.

The younger brother asked his father if he could take his share of his inheritance and try his luck further afield. It didn't work out, spent the money and reduced to looking after pigs and eating their food, when he said to himself: ''Why am I here? I would be better off as a servant in my father's house'', so he went home. His father saw him coming and was overjoyed. He ordered his servants to wash him and dress him in good clothes, and ordered the fatted calf be killed in celebration. The older son was furious. He said: 'I work for you day in and day out, you have the fatted calf killed for my brother, yet you have not so much given me a sheep to celebrate with my family and friends.''

His father said: 'Everything I have is yours. Why are you so angry? My son was dead, and is alive; was lost, and is found'

If the head of the Christian Church in this country cannot 'go and do likewise' there is something seriously wrong with who we look to for example.

Very ugly feet. I'd be inclined to cover them up a bit more. 😺

I'd do anything for feet like Meghan's! Don't care if she's got a long toe or whatever they look fully functional.

There have been comments about how much happier Harry looked when he was in London.

Maybe because he was flying solo, and was more ‘himself’, without constant hand holding and back rubbing helping him on his way.

He looks pretty happy here. And haven't his clothes got more relaxed?

Well, at least he’s got a replacement necklace.

Speaking as someone with ugly feet myself, I must defend Meghan’s actually.

Hers look ok to me, wish mine were as good.

No-one can help their feet, I'm always envious of people with lovely strong feet.

I like the dress. It's silk. It's her money but of course it may have been given to her.

Who cares?

Caleo Sat 11-May-24 20:06:15

From recent replies there seems to be a trend towards lack of ostentation in apparel and self presentation generally. I certainly go along with that!

I'm "estranged " from one of my children who prefers to believe the lies of their narcissistic partner despite knowing they are lies! I am now at thr point where if they did want to meet I probably would decline. The hurt they have caused me and the family is unforgivable and I'm not sure that seeing them would not open ip wounds that have taken years to heal. I am not in the public eye so cannot imagine how horrible all this speculation is when I know from experience the hurt this causes. Harry chose to turn his back on his family, his heritage and his duties. But now expects the privileges and forgiveness when it suits him. Sorry I'm with Charles and William on this and would keep my distance. As others have pointed out it may just be another Oprah story opportunity for H&M, who knows?

Just noticed, I'm also only on page 5 by the way.

Clothes, Glorianny?
Do you have an opinion on this dress? I think it was nearly £3k. (Can't remember the designer).

Tropicana Nights Dress $2.850
Johannesburg Ortiz - I think the style suits her body shape and is one of the nicer outfits I've seen her in.
Haven't seen photos of her standing up though.

You can’t “abide” very much it seems! What a nasty spiteful comment. Reported

What goes around comes around !
You reap what you sow in this life. Best thing Harry could do is dump the whinging American and come back home

eazybee Sat 11-May-24 18:34:44

Well, it is when you pay £3,000 for a dress that looks like a sarong. (Unless of course, it is a freebie, which she wasn't allowed in Britain,)

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 11-May-24 18:25:12

Yes. Hard life isn’t it?

eazybee Sat 11-May-24 18:11:53

I suspect Harry is looking more relaxed because Meghan is pleased she is the star and being treated as is her due, therefore his life is easier.
They must be worried about where the next million is coming from as neither has the talent to fund the lifestyle to which they consider themselves entitled and there is a limit as to how far they can exploit their royal connections in America.

This post has been removed as it was felt to be inflammatory.

Apparently the king had time to meet David Beckham, I think it’s disgusting he couldn’t find time to see his son.

It seems that for the British Royals, blood is not thicker than water. You do not 'find' time to meet someone, you 'make' it. So even if it's just a light lunch, or a video call, that would count as a meeting... but of course, as we say in Malta, only the people who put stuff in the pot know what there is in the pot...

How do you know there haven't been video calls?

She lied - not unknown - until her black ancestry was a marketable commodity.

I do think it’s disingenuous that Herself claims to be 49% Nigerian when it’s documented that she’s only 12% black, and out of that 12% she’s 49% Nigerian.

Think about it. Her dad is white, so that’s 50% at least white.

Her mum is mixed race so that’s less than 50% black.

She’s passed as white for years before she knew the race card was worth playing.

At 12% Black, she is, according to the US Jim Crow race laws, white.

It’s quite sickening how she’s claiming to be a Nigerian princess.

Then again, she's a grifter, like all the Spam Nigerian Princes I get emails from!!

Lots of people who think they are 100% white have some black ancestry.
Who was the 50% white in her mother's case? Both parents were black.

Sparklefizz Sat 11-May-24 18:00:26

Venus Clearly she didn't get an A for Maths!

Casdon Sat 11-May-24 17:25:03

I just made the mistake of googling Meghan’s feet - it’s a whole new world. Apparently she’s got Morton’s toe, which I’d never heard of before, but is where your second toe is longer than your big toe - and up to 20% of the population have it. who knew?

Even if you didn't forgive him. If you had so many residences and rooms you couldn't count them you'd offer to put him up wouldn't you?

Don't you suppose he was happy in a hotel?

Hotels have been invented, a lovely place for people to stay without imposing on others. Easy transfer to/from the airport.

Yes, not her best feature.
