Adverts you like?

There’s a long thread with adverts we don’t like, but are there any you like, find interesting or make you laugh? Can be of any age.

The recent one I like most is the Twix one with the two bears. I heard it twice without looking at it (crocheting) and it sounded quite straightforward. However, if you look at it, it paints a totally different impression. Still find it really funny.

What ones do you like?

The Cadbury Dairy Milk advert that features a little girl going into a shop to buy her Mum a bar of chocolate, it makes me smile every time I see it.

I cannot stand any adverts. Many are ridiculously banal, aimed at the crisp munching, processed food, energy drink slurping, easily coerced, braindead who walk among us. Funeral and cremation services, stairlifts and walk-in baths aimed at the over 60’s are tiresome and predictable. I feel somewhat insulted they think it’s acceptable to bombard us with such drivel and inevitably, leave the room or scroll my phone for interesting snippets you wont find on mainstream TV.

I ignore adverts as much as possible but I love that one Astitchintime. And I love CDM.

I'm a bit weird, I like car adverts! My latest favourite is the white car in the field of red poppies - nature contrasts with hard manufacturing, both bringing about beauty.
I think I like it too for the cello music by Bach, played by Yo-Yo Ma.

Yes to the CDM one for me too.

The GoCompare one with the man and the cat. I can't explain why but it makes me laugh every time.
And yes, also the Cadbury's Dairy Milk one.

With you on the Twixy Bears Whethertomorrow, after all these years I still sing "Margarita in the sun with me" thinking about those dear little dancing hedgehogs, but for the life of me can't remember what the advert was for! sunshinesunshinesunshine

This is an ad I like to avoid, twee and fantasy land. What corner shop owner gives a flying fig who’s birthday it is and sells a huge bar of choc for buttons and toys. It’s as cloying as Cadbury chocolate is.🤮

Having said that, I avoid most ads anyway as I record most things so can whizz by them.
Can’t think of a single ad I like.

The last ad I actually watched and enjoyed was the "Go compare" one where Sue Barker shot the opera singer, with the moustache, with a crossbow. Unfortunately he appeared to have come back to life when they made the next one.

The IrnBru adverts are very funny.

The smash potatoes advert in the 70s, I think. The one with the aliens falling about laughing at "they peel them with their metal knives." And the Gold Blend coffee saga with Anthony Head and Susan Maugham. None from nowadays.

Grandmabatty Wed 22-May-24 09:55:50

One of my former pupils was in an Irn Bru advert. He was a very funny boy.

Georgesgran Wed 22-May-24 10:05:12

Harsh Oreo but true! None of today’s adverts arouse my interest.

I think my all time favourite has to be Nick Kamen, his Levi jeans and that fabulous soundtrack!

Imarocker Wed 22-May-24 10:53:00

We record everything and fast forward through the adverts. Hate them!

BigBertha1 Wed 22-May-24 11:19:43

Ikea adverts are usually good but we don't often see them as we record what we want to watch and zip through.

Gillycats Wed 22-May-24 11:27:19

I hate adverts. We tend to record programmes then skip the ads. However, there is a newish one where there’s a load of youngsters in a gym, some are doing Northern Soul dancing. There’s so many of them that I don’t get bored watching them. Unfortunately I have no idea what product the ad is about smile.

There are FAR TOO MANY adverts these days!! Everywhere!!

I did like some years ago, one was a pepperoni one with said pepperoni bungee jumping and slipping out of its wrapper as it went. I thought it was hilarious.

Then the lady in the bath dreaming of the footballer walking into the bathroom to join her. Just as he was about to remove his budgie smugglers, he POOF disappeared - very much disappointing me 🤣 Di Canio, I think his name was. Italian. And a nice bit of eye candy, too!

I really do not need to see women sitting on toilets to advertise sanitary products, and let's hope we never have to see the men putting on a condom!! Although both ARE needed!

There are no decent adverts these days. Just boring and too many.

The alien SMASH adverts were good. I've shown these to my GC.

I love the doll and the dinosaur on the Argos sponsored advert that introduces Corrie. Just wish I still had a little girl to buy them for as I believe Argos sell them.
