Are you too scared to post what you really think?

I’ve always spoke my mind if ppl don’t like it that’s their problem not mine. If someone has an issue with what you say then they the ones with issues.

I express my opinion as a comment but I am not interested in conducting a discussion. There are some posters who cannot let a topic go and produce a thread of interminable length; not interested.

Now, I have found I have learned so much on GN because I have engaged in discussion with other people who have more experience and knowledge in many areas than I have.

There have been posters in the past who seem to have wanted to start a fight in an empty room, with wilful misinterpretation of opinions, and aggressive comments. Attempting to explain caused yet more outrage.
That is very true, LovesBach. There was a poster who was omnipresent on every thread, and did just that incessantly. 6pm was, however, a good time when they went to cook the evening meal for their husband!

Obviously there are people on here with a better education and and a more superior intellect to my own which is fair enough BUT when they use it to castigate and belittle other posters, I think it is disgusting and says more about them than the poster they are critiquing….🤨

I don't think political views should matter. I find some of GSM's views pretty shocking, but she doesn't resort to the sort of personal nastiness that I have seen (and experienced) from some of those with whose (political) views I largely agree.

We are adults, and we live in a democracy. We should be able to disagree and discuss without people feeling scared. As for telling posters to leave - that's outrageous. I hope the offender was banned?

Thank you Galaxy and Iam. I am forthright in my views and my political leaning is different to most, but I try to help those here who have legal problems and I hope I show compassion to those who, or whose partners are, ill. I pray for many on GN - a few know, most don’t.

Annesixty that is horrible and the poster really overstepped, did she/he give a reason?
Also why did the other poster accept this. I would have told that person to do one and would have carried on posting.
No one should be scared on here.

A couple of years ago a poster on a thread I posted on regularly told another fairly new poster that she should stop posting.
She did and I have never forgotten the blatant unfairness of it.
I have never posted on that thread since.
However I did not report it or comment at the time.
Cowardice or self preservation as I wanted to stay on GN?

Yes she is kind, I have had quite a few fights with anniebach too but I think she is kind poster. But I will probably now be deleted for talking about other posters .

There is something about the fact that we as a society seem to have become unable to 'hear' those with different views. Its something to do with politics becoming an identity I think.
I hope she doesnt mind me mentioning it, as I often use her as an example, but I have very different politics to GSM but I always find her posts very interesting.

This resonates with me. My politics are different to GSM but I value her posts. As for kindness and support for others GSM is a poster I admire.

And - I’ve caught up with this thread and enjoyed lots of comments. I find it interesting to see the views of others. I generally hang out with family and friends who share many similar views and interests. This doesn’t mean we always agree and leads to interesting discussions -like here

Callistemon - I’d noticed your absence and assumed you had escaped our awful weather for sunnier places. I’m shocked anyone could tell you to leave - how very dare they.

No I'm not scared but my pet hate is the posters who seem to only post to correct or be sarcastic towards others.

They must surely scare some of the more timid posters away.

I know of more than a couple that have left, because every time they posted an opinion on something they got jumped on. It became very wearying, they didn't need that in their lives.
It's a pity, their pisrs could be interesting and often entertaining. .

Of course, those jumping from their lofty heights are often still posting.

That's not right, Cornflower, you shouldn't leave a thread just because you see a certain name on it. That means they've won and you are left feeling deflated. But I do sort of understand.
There's a couple of names who make me roll my eyes, but no one currently makes me scared and upset.
