Yesterday we got our fan out for the first time this year. It's quite a large one which we stand on the floor. About 10 seconds after it was switched on there was a huge bang, and thousands of tiny bits of plastic flew all over the room. The blades had completely disintegrated . Luckily the mesh guard on the front stayed on, which broke the plastic blades like going through a sieve. If that had come off, we could have been hit by big pieces of sharp plastic. As it was, the whole room was covered by tiny bits of plastic and dust. It took over an hour to clean up. An experience we don't want to repeat!
