Made me laugh

Good point Bumface. Maybe we could do a rota- some time on the Rwanda beach, then time at home wandering around a supermarket saying " now, what did I come in for?"

Bumface Tue 09-Jul-24 10:52:14

Who will pick up the GCs from school and walk the dog while they are at work? Who will feed the cat when they go away?

Who will work in the charity shops and not know how to operate the till? Who will clog up the buses after 9.30am? Who will cause endless queues at the Post Office and the bank? Surely we have a duty to the younger generation to try and evade capture and stay.grin

Excellent Aveline. See you there.

kittylester Tue 09-Jul-24 08:36:45

Love that Aveline!!

Callistemon213 Mon 08-Jul-24 22:37:15

😁
It's started already with all the new women MPs!

Aveline Mon 08-Jul-24 21:28:48

Thought this might be the right thread to post this on. Who's with me?grin

If the Tories had got back in and Reform had more than 13 seats (as was predicted by exit poll) I was planning to get a dingy and set out from Dover over the channel to seek asylum.

However, now the French are turning Fascist too I might try my luck crossing the Irish Sea instead!

Yes Fascist is the word for the mob that has been elected
This is one of them
Raphael Arnault, classified as a security threat to the French state, elected to French National Assembly. Way to go France. Accused of antisemetic attack on a 15 year old boy in May this year.
Think they'll rue the day they voted for this lot.

It's a coalition- they'll never get anything done. I wrote the post mostly in jest, but I'm still glad Le Penn and her awful toy boy didn't get in.

I’ve always wanted to visit Rwanda!smile

But what will happen to all the organisations who are dependent on their retired age volunteers, when we are all sunning ourselves on Costa Rwanda?

In all seriousness - what will happen to the charities. I did voluntary work for SCF for the 20 years that I lived in Suffolk. When I joined I was the youngest at 40 and the other ladies, apart from one friend were all retired. I have one friend who is 86 and still working in a charity shop one day a week.

KittyLester Thank you for that. It made me laugh out loud too.

nadateturbe Mon 08-Jul-24 18:27:45

Yes please, as long as its sunny. Just give me 5 minutes to pack!

kittylester Mon 08-Jul-24 13:00:34

Then a canoe on the brook!

Reminds me of those people who allegedly spend their lives on world cruises as it works out cheaper than maintaining a home.

Actually, I may lobby my new MP, it would free up homes and if they upped on board medical facilities it would save a few hospital beds. And we might actually see some sunshine - so much better for our health and wellbeing grin

I could sell my house and live on cruise ships but what if I live for a long time with dwindling funds. I would have to downgrade to river cruises and then a canal boat and then what? A rowing boat on the Thames 😀

Oooh yes please, I vote for this and I’ll come!

Made me smile 😊😊

Btw, I’ve been in Chelmsford Prison, it’s bloody awful in there. I was allowed into a cell in the “non violent” wings, it was so oppressive and just awful generally, the bed was tiny and so uncomfortable, food a bit grim and “ready made” and just cold food in cells for breakfast and lunch. No TVs in most cells as these have to be “earned”. This is one of our “better” prisons!

It shouldn’t be a luxury, it’s a “punishment” but hardly any room or time for “rehabilitation”, hence such a huge re-offending rate. We should take a leaf out of the Scandinavian model!

maddyone Mon 08-Jul-24 10:38:13

Where are we going? What do I need to pack? Will I need sun cream?

JamesandJon33 Mon 08-Jul-24 10:33:52

Callistemon I moved from England, back to Wales. I wouldn’t want to go back. Scotland would be better. Anyway I expect we wouldn’t need to go by public transport. A coach or plane I would expect

Callistemon213 Sun 07-Jul-24 22:13:43

*Callistemon*. I have a Welsh bus pass.

👍

But we can't use it in England!

Good idea ferry and we could be buried at sea with the ceremony well attended by passengers and crew!

I'm opting for a Viking funeral; my DGC can send me off like the children did to Billy Connolly in the film What We Did On Our Holiday!!

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 07-Jul-24 20:29:12

Just hope there will be a loo on the bus...

A bit like Larry the cat, who at 17 years old, that's 119 years to you and me, was left out in the rain outside number 10 for quite a while on Saturday before a policeman rescued him.

sad

If Larry could talk...
