All the above mentioned - family, pets, grandchildren. But arriving in Greece for a holiday when you can smell all the herbs warmed by the sun and know you are home - bliss

My wonderful DH and our amazing family.
Long warm summer evenings (I wish!)
My gorgeous dog.
Music, music and more music 🎵
The beach.
So much more.

Thank you for such a lovely uplifting post Heavenleigh.
For myself it's the simple things in life that make me feel happy and content. I'm a person who has no wish for luxurious holidays or fancy cars etc
A gentle walk
Being outdoors in good weather
My family
My dog
A peaceful life
Lunch or coffee with friends and family
TV/a good film
Reading
Sweetie's (in limited amounts of course)

Lots of things, but travel and hillwalking feature heavily. I haven’t been able to walk without crutches for almost a year now and haven’t climbed a hill since 2022, but, with my shiny new hip, hoping to do both soon(ish).

Turning the key in my front door and entering my home, the first one I have owned by myself.
Planting seeds and nurturing them into beautiful blooms.
Having both my grownup children under my roof together.
Sitting down at 4.30 to a huge pot of tea and an exquisite cake served with a proper cake fork.

Cossy Sat 13-Jul-24 11:20:29

Oh and music! How could I forget music!
Singing in my choir

Finally having a reasonably safe roof over my head after living with the threat of no fault eviction for around 15-20 years! A sunny day, my lovely family, my recently adopted cat, waking in the morning with the thought’ yup I’m still here’! A couple or so good books to read, my music!
No real order just thankful for all!

Coming home from holiday. We’ve had a lovely time, but coming home is the best feeling for me. I look forward to seeing my garden, making sure everything has survived.
Meeting up with friends. And a good book. And of course our lovely family, wouldn’t be without them.

In no particular order:-
Not having to go to work anymore
Listening to classical music
Reading a good book
Going to the cinema or theatre
Eating a meal I haven't had to cook
DD and Grandchildren
The mysterious wizened bulb someone gave that is now a huge plant covered in big red flowers
There's more but I don't want to bore anyone.

I'm with you Sideline : libraries are places to lift the heart, and all for free.
Sunshine helps, too.

My beloved hubby and his hilarious humour, our little cat and 2 little coldwater fish.

Bounty bars and PG Tips!

Winters/cold.

Hanging around books shops.

Even though I'm physically disabled and am in excruciating pain 24/7/365/hubby is my official carer I can still get out of bed every morning by myself.

When I was in the livingroom this morning getting ready for work, a gorgeous little grey moth fluttered past my face and out of the window! AWWWW!

Various other things.

BigMamma Fri 12-Jul-24 10:17:51

Aveline

Just knowing I have a comfortable home, family, friends, meaningful activity and no immediate money or physical worries. Could all change of course so I try to be happy in the moment.

I totally agree with everything you have stated.

If I could have my husband back (he died 10 years ago) then my happiness would be complete.

Grammaretto Fri 12-Jul-24 10:07:46

When everything is going well for my DG and DGC and when I watch them happily chatting or playing together.

On the scale of 1 to 10, it's about 7 at the moment.

henetha Fri 12-Jul-24 09:51:09

My family first and foremost of course. Then reading a good
book. Walking in the countryside, feeling the warmth of the sun, listening to birds. Or walking along a beach.
I so agree Sidelined. Our libraries are wonderful and should be cherished.

Sidelined Fri 12-Jul-24 09:46:31

My local library service. It's outstanding. A true lifeline to so many different people and hugely undervalued.

blue14 Fri 12-Jul-24 09:45:42

I forgot - LOVE.
