Good morning all from a grey and chilly North Leicestershire. The heating had come on when I went to make the tea.

I have a lot of cooking to do today before DS1 comes for the match.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. It was cold here yesterday. I walked down to the supermarket in the afternoon and was glad of a jacket. Nothing much going on today - a bit of gardening to do if it stays dry; a casserole to make for the freezer, and an end of year report to write for my school reading groups to see who is ‘ready to fly’. I might watch the match this evening - haven’t made my mind up yet.

Karmalady I sent my mother's manual Singer sewing machine via a charity to the Democratic Republic of Congo for young women to use to earn a living. I put in all the brightly coloured cotton reels my mother had bought and hardly used and know that she would be delighted to think the machine would be of help. I meant to put a photo of my mother inside it, but didn't. And wish I had now.

Had a lovely evening with the boys, they were as good as gold and we had lots of cuddles and stories before they went to bed.

Twin 1 definitely seems to have come out of his shell since starting nursery so I’m revising my opinion and accept that it might have been a good move after all!

Karma what a lovely DD and SiL you have and how fortunate for the elderly lady to have been found by two such kind souls in her time of need.

I’m off to Mass as usual, after which my weekly chat with my friend in Leicester then I shall be rooted to the sofa to watch the Men’s Final at Wimbledon. I’m sort of dreading it as I really want Alcaraz to win but am not sure he can pull it off.

Good morning from a bright Cambridgeshire. Looks like the cloud will arrive by 12 though!
We have friends arriving at mid-day for a BBQ so fingers crossed on it staying dry.
My granddaughters dance show went well yesterday. She is 10 and her first time in the senior show she loved it.
I couldn’t get to sleep last night and woke early to realise my chicken for the BBQ was still in the freezer so up and about early today. DH is still sleeping!!

Ashcombe- pleased to hear some resolution on your water issue, do hope the pipe work won’t be too large a bill!

Yesterday, I went to the monthly church coffee morning where the attendance was lower than usual. Intermittent heavy showers prevented me venturing much further than the local shops.

Today, I’ll attend the early service - I’ve missed several Sundays due to being away. Later, we have auditions for our Christmas production of The Wind in the Willows, last performed in 2012, when I had recently joined Toads.

I have appreciated all the support on this thread regarding the issue with SW Water. I shan’t be charged for the water itself, Oopsadaisy1 but it’s possible I’ll have to pay for the repairs to the underground pipe. Each flat has its own meter hence their ability to identify it to me.

Good morning all from what appears to have been a rainy night according to my ring doorbell view here on the east coast of Fife. I’m still wrapped up in my cosy bed.

Although I’m not really interested in football I’ll be watching the football tonight I think it’s going to be very interesting. I’ll be having fish and chips for my tea and I might even have a pineapple ring with it. I do love battered pineapple and I’ll be having the rest of my homemade cauliflower cheese for lunch, I didn’t have the usual ingredient of mustard in my fridge and I don’t know where it went to, it’s a real mystery but then I have so many different carers coming in every day, someone must have thrown it out, I tried cayenne pepper instead in my cheese sauce and it was delicious.

I’m having loungewear on today, it’ll be a lazy day.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and dry today

Yesterday was very uplifting, all day. Simple things like using a wonderful new stitch on my vintage workhorse sewing machine, thinking about the person who owned and used her for all those years and how pleased she would be to know that it was being fully used again. I felt the vibes and I finished my dress

Everyone I met on my walk yesterday said good morning to me, such a cheery start to the day.

Later in the day I heard that one dd driving out for a hike with her dh, saw a woman by the roadside. They stopped and took her to A and E. She is almost 90 and needed stitches over her eye. They took her home after some hours and made sure she had food etc. DD loved meeting her, such a very interesting life and stories to tell. Her life was in CID and she has been in a documentary. Dd and her dh will be keeping an eye on her, she has no family nearby

Today needs to be that cycle ride, no rain clouds to put me off

I think it’s going to be a fine day.

It’s the second day of our village festival. I’ll have a look round this afternoon while OH watches the tennis. We used to be very involved in the festival, but not so much in recent years.

We’re having lunch out. At some point I have ironing and packing to get on with. I have booked a taxi at 10 am tomorrow to take me to Oxford to get the airport bus.

DH is off kayaking so I was woken up by him an hour ago 🙄. The dog has joined me on the bed, she’s snoring gently 😊
A day all to ourselves so I will take her to the village for a nice walk, do a bit of gardening when we get back then sit outside with my book. I have no idea when DH will be back so I can eat whatever and whenever I like!
Looking forward to a see-what-comes day 😀

Good morning from a hazy Bristol. No rain forecast today! As there was no wind, I managed to sit out for an hour yesterday afternoon.

Nice chat at church coffee. One chap sat next to me and asked my name. Upon being told, he exclaimed, “Oh, you’re Mattie! I’m going with you and X and Y to the Newman hall for the Later Life meeting!” What??? What meeting? In a panic, I checked my diary, no such meeting…. Help! I then realised that it was the one I had agreed to help serve food, etc, some weeks ago not a committee meeting. Phew!

Church this morning and more sewing up of my quilt. Smoked mackerel pate for dinner.
