Defrosting

I defrost my freezer with the hair dryer, works wonder in a few minutes ut be sure to switch off before starting.

I have had a small pk of salmon fillets on mine for 20 minutes and still not starting to defrost.

I thought GN might be more reliable.

I defrost things quickly by immersing them in cold water.

I have one..........meat doesn't defrost instantly but does thaw out much quicker than not being on it.......hope that makes sense.

Most ovens have a de-frosting programme, but I have never found it successful. I get whatever meat is wanted for dinner out of the freezer either the evening before - if it is as roast or something else thick, just after breakfast or at lunch time and take it out of its wrapping and put it on a plate, suitably shut away form the cats.

Fish or vegetables or grated cheese take far shorter time to defrost, usually well under an hour.

That’s what I was looking for. I’ve tried lots of other ways, but they look ideal for the day you’ve suddenly got visitors for dinner and you just need to defrost two more portions, whether it’s salmon, chops or cauliflower cheese without using the microwave.
That happens a lot over the summer holidays.

Or submerge in cold water!
