It is so heartening to hear of kindness from strangers - I am so glad that most people were kind and understanding to you and your husband.

My current house guests got held up going into the city this morning. Someone had fallen from a bridge over the road, so police and ambulances were involved and the road was blocked then closed for quite some time. People were frustrated of course, but it seems the overall response was one of sympathy and understanding.

I’m glad you experienced the same posset.

Thank you all for your sympathetic words - There are obviously many kind Grannies here!

grandMattie

I’m so sorry about the crash. I hope no serious damage was done to either car!
Everyone’s kindness emphasises my firm belief in the intrinsic goodness of humankind. Yes there are nasty people (who generally get all the publicity) but most are kind.

I think this too.
As we get older we dwell on mistakes including an accident that we may have got over quickly a few years ago.
Unless of course your DH knew he couldn't see properly and needs an eye test or something of that kind.An accident can’t be helped sometimes.

I am someone who is happy to wait in a queue at a road traffic incident - you should know that not everyone is angry.

I do hope your husband (and you too of course) soon feel better about the accident- at least no one is seriously hurt. That is the main thing.

I am always deeply grateful that I'm not the one suffering the trauma (and potential loss of life).

Maybe this is selfish but I do often think how lucky I am to be just sitting in the queue.

Accidents happen to us all but thankfully yours was not serious. Most people are kind, that's been my experience but kindness is not newsworthy, people seem to prefer to hear about the nastiness in our world.

The kindness of strangers does restore faith in human nature and I am so sorry for the upset to everyone involved.

Restores faith in human nature! Lovely to read about such kindness. Hope your DH is being kind to himself . Good to know you and others escaped serious injury.

Most important thing is that all involved are ok x

Maybe tell your husband that if someone had accidentally hit your car I am sure your husband would accept it was an accident and not done on purpose, he needs to be kinder to himself.

It is awful that your holiday was ruined but thank goodness that you seem to be okay. How lovely that so many people where there to help you. It is amazing how kind complete strangers can be when we need help. Sending good wished your way.

Yesterday my DH and I were involved in a car accident. It was actually his fault and he is beating himself up about it.............it could just as easily have been me driving!
Anyway, the crux of the matter is that I was blown away by the kindness of all the people who got involved, from the woman whose car we hit, and had suffered mild whiplash, asking me if I was all right, to the others who came to help with directing traffic, offer sympathy, call the police etc. etc. The Police were super-kind and not at all accusatory towards us. Even the driver who came to load up our campervan and tow it off gave us a lift to a point near home and then, the taxi driver who took us home was ultra helpful.
The only fly in the ointment was that some of the drivers who were held up for a short while in the tailback shouting abuse at the chap trying to direct it past..........what makes people so rude?
p.s. it ruined our short holiday!
