I went to 9.30 am Mass , met my neighbour , we had coffee in the local cafe , got milk paper and bananas , and I’m only home now !
I haven’t read the posts yes , so kettle on and catch up

Our eldest DGD is about to turn 18. These are the times I want to share with DH so much.

I haven't posted here for a while- don't think my life is of much interest- but today would have been our 54th wedding anniversary- so a special day with memories of a windswept torrential St Andrews! It looks as if it's going to be a bit better there today. 🌞
Well before crack of dawn (report to school at 4am) GS2 (12) set off on an amazing school trip- they are cycling from Copenhagen to Berlin. SIL is going too (I gather its v popular with the Dad's- it's a boys'school)
In the meantime D, GS1 and GD are coming here for the night before flying off to Paris in the morning for 3 days at Disneyland Paris by way of compensation.
How could I have envisaged any of this 54 years ago? I probably hoped we'd be celebrating together but life ain't like that.

Morning all from a dreich Kent. Thought I should check in as I had a name check from Marydoll ( left you a message in Inbox!)
I don’t post often as I can’t keep upwith all you very busy gransnetters - my life seems so dull in comparison. I am estranged from my DD and 3 DGS ( in Malta) and my DS and 2DGDs live too far away for visits.
I have an issue with balance (Bilateral vestibular Hypofunction) so don’t go out on my own. Hubby still works - he’s 5 years younger than me- so I spend most days on my own. I don’t mind it as I read a lot and this year have taken up freelance proofreading . It’s so much easier these days as I don’t need to worry about giving printers instructions. I proofread and someone else sets the book up for printing as it is all done digitally. Just waiting on go ahead on another three novels so I will be gainfully employed for a few weeks. All proceeds are going into my ‘slush’ fund - I will decide when hubby retires whether we save or splurge it! Should be a tidy sum by then.
I love reading all your news and envy Marydoll and her meet-ups. We were at school together as you might have noticed but I left Scotland 45 years ago.

Good morning from cloudy West Sussex. There are raindrops all along the washing line and the wind is blowing. DH is going to the allotment. He may get wet 🙁

I am gradually regaining some energy after my infection - sympathy to Greyduster - take it slowly 🙂

I had an excellent plan yesterday, for a furniture move around. It involved moving an old chest of drawers from inside the built in wardrobe in our bedroom to the walk-in cupboard on the landing. I had cleared the cupboard over the last couple of days, when my strength allowed, and I had measured the chest and the space in the cupboard. But I had not allowed for the fact that the doorway is narrower and there wasn’t room to wiggle the chest round so it all had to go back again. DH says he could put shelves into the walk-in cupboard and we could then store clothes in boxes on the shelves instead of drawers. I am not holding my breath for this to happen!

DD3 and DGDs (5 and 9) are coming to visit tomorrow. I hope the weather will be better and they can go to the beach or park but I’m bringing out the felt tips, paper and craft stuff just in case.

Grammaretto, I hope you have no longer term effects from your dog bite and it heals up soon.

Holly, glad to hear the end is in sight for your abcess and half-extracted tooth.

Good Morning from 🇫🇷 - the sunny south, where the dog and I crept out at 6.30am to embrace a cool northerly breeze before the sun laid us low. 37c here today, so no more walking.
Just wanted to thank you, Mattie, for a nostalgic read. The Wye Valley holds wonderful memories for me, I was born in Monmouth. If you get the chance, Symonds Yat rock has the most stunning views of the river and for miles - it’s also Peregrine Falcon country.

Mitchel Troy (from the Welsh, St Michael by (the river) Trothy) is also well known to me. Monmouthshire’s still a lovely unspoilt county with such pretty countryside
Enjoy a well-deserved break and ignore all bad behaviour and respond to the good!

Hello GrandMattie I lived in Monmouth for 40 years you bring back so many happy memories for me. Now in Hampshire. Drizzle here but grandaughters today so some sticking and glue ing today.

I wonder, gMattie, if Iris is horrible when hungry? I always reckoned that DH had been fed three hourly as a baby and still needed to be so always had snacks for him when away from the house. Normally equable and happy, he became Mr Grumpy when his blood sugar dropped.

A tidying and sorting day as the forecast is dismal, with some admin and bill paying to fit in. It feels like August already.

My daughter is off today to Latitude with her friend! I hope it won't be too muddy for them! She's taking her caravan!

Good morning all and yes it’s dull here in Suffolk. Rain forecast later.
What a lovely catch-up I had with Liberty yesterday. The time just flew by . Perhaps next time it should be lunch. 😉.

The afternoon was spent putting together a wardrobe. Dh and I worked well together with only a few choice words. 😂.
Odd job man came and put the bed together in under half an hour. So a ‘good’ day was had.

Today we’ll prepare for my two brothers arriving tomorrow. Nephew will bring db2 as he is awaiting a heart bypass and shouldn’t drive. Db1 and SIL will come but she’s awaiting an urgent eye appointment (diabetic), so they might have to cancel. We’ll take it as it comes!

Tonight I have my book club in a local pub . It will be nice to see the other 5 ladies.

Enjoy Marsh Farm GG I haven’t been there for a few years but the GC all loved it. I didn’t know they have a splash beach.

Good morning from a dry NE.
Mick I am having the same problem with my TVs, they were fine before I went on holiday but when I returned the HD programmes were pixilated. My BIL gave me an aerial technician's phone number but I don't believe it is my TV or aerial. I am at opposite end of the country to you so may be atmospheric conditions, is there a lot of solar activity ?

I think I will do the laundry today then everything will be ironed and put away before the weekend.

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy Carlisle. Rain is forecast here too.
It didn't rain after all yesterday though we never achieved sunshine. After a morning of housework and ironing, I had an afternoon in the garden where there was plenty of deadheading to do and the planting of a new purchase, a pretty perennial geranium. A lot of my shrubs have now evidently settled in and growth has exploded this year. My young crab apple trees will need to be curtailed somewhat later in the year. I'm anticipating my first pot of crab apple jelly...

Today, a bit of floor washing then routine housework is done for the week. I've a list of one-off jobs though and it's growing...I also have a growing list of books to read and I know which list I prefer to tackle.

I hope all the 'patients' improve today, a bit of sun would make everyone feel better....

Wanted to add that when my DD FaceTimed yesterday, I said it wasn’t the pulling of the tooth that was a bother, but the aftermath, yes, the aftermouth she said 😁

Good morning all from a light start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.
yesterday was really hot and it’s expected to be hot again today .
Once more my carer will be making me up an ice-cream cone with a flake on the top I gave one to my carer yesterday she was so hot.
Even the wee dog is hot she slept outside my bedroom door last night snoring away 🤬

DD, myself and the 9yr old are going to Marsh Farm today, he is excited as he cannot remember the man made play & splash beach . It’s not my favourite place, but then again it’s not designed for Grandma’s 🤣

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Went out yesterday for only the second time in twelve days owing to the abscess situation and stocked up.
My Dsister in the south is due next Monday and I’m hoping it doesn’t clash with the final surgery at the hospital to remove the offending remains of tooth plus abscess.
She loves coming back to her home area so will visit friends and amuse herself whatever state I’m in.

Hope you get your tv sorted Mick, such a lovely area to be in GM and thoughts to Mr.Baubles

Today is Tai chi again, which is always pleasant, followed by long overdue bits and bobs in time. After that I shall enjoy my usual lazy afternoon. Yesterday I spent a very calming time by the pond. Trying to count the fish is a very meditative occupation!

I have lost my novella, trying to post a picture of my garden in the middle of the night. Not feeling great, so I went wandering.I do love a solar light. 😁

Borrheid, a former schoolmate of course came into the hairdresser's yesterday, so decided to stay sit an chat. You know her well!

I got home and phoned to organise a repair for the conservatory doors. An hour later, the installer, who had fitted them arrived. Although they are based in the Clyde Valley, he happened to be in the area, so took the opportunity.
All sorted free of charge!! That is service indeed.
We were laughing, because he was trying to avoid, my pal the Ebay Queen. Last year he put a solid roof on her conservatory and she stood and supervised the workmen the whole time! 🤣
