J.D.Vance causes a stir with this comment resurfacing.
My DD is childfree as they call it now and perfectly happy (without cats).
Wouldn’t have missed out on children myself but what are your thoughts?
Love my cat and it’s an insult to them…

Cute young single childless woman, with a cat. grin

grin AGAA4 - I think you can take your cat - but not wear a Kamala t-shirt!

There are,on FB, pictures of the wonderful Dolly Parton entitled " just another miserable childless Cat Lady with no stake in the future of America? ". The post is garnering a lot of " likes" and positive comments about how the DP sends free books out to children across the USA every day.

Wonder how many of you saw this?

😂 I love this. It would be good if all the "cat ladies" brought their cats when they go to vote.
If I get a cat I will call him Vance.

Someone, biglouis must have bred a child to provide you with the nephew that you sometimes speak of fondly. Your taxes have not all been in vain.

MissAdventure Mon 29-Jul-24 10:49:18

I would have f***ed and had fun a lot more, if I was getting paid, into the bargain.

People who have bred children need to remember that they are living upon the grace (eg taxes paid by) those who are child free.

At the moment of their conception it is extremely unlikely that the parents were actually thinking of the children, but rather of their own pleasure.

So in a very real sense the childfree are paying for others to f**k and have fun.

You forget that when you grow old you will be drawing a state pension, using the NHS, relying on lots of people younger than you to work in shops, make things you buy, mend roads, drive buses, grow food etc.

With no workers younger than you there will be no taxes, no pension, no healthcare, no food,

One of the major problems facing society at the moment is that, world wide birthrates have fallen to replacement level and in many cases, well below and already governments are talking about people having to work well into their 70s and older before they can draw pensions, of pensions being lower than they are now and medical care restricted.

It is you that needs to remember that your current income and confort is dependent on the taxes and work being done by other people's children and grandchildren.

Your last remark just shows your ignorance. Nowadays most people use contraception most of he time and only cease to use it when they are seeking to become pregnant, which means that the possibility of conceiving a child is very much on their mind at the time they do so.

Well said, M0nica.

Hopefully give both him and Trump enough rope and they hang themselves. Both are horrible men, Trump will insist he has won whether he has or not probably like last time.

What an awful thing to say! We ALL pay taxes, it maybe people like my husband, who prior to his heart attack in 2020 had not visited a GP for 22 years!

He’s still paid towards the NHS.

There’s many other examples I could cite.

Without children our country would simply break down over a number of years.

It’s great to choose to have children, or not to have children. Very sad for those childless not through their own choice.

Those who are childless should always bear in mind that it is the generation below them that is paying their tax/NI to keep the state pension, NHS, defence etc going.

We are all in this society together. None of us is an island.

Apart from this being an unedifying post - it is quite simply wrong.

His pathetic jibe rather fell apart when Pete Buttigieg adopted twins.

Whatever the state contributes to help raise the next generation, parents contribute a great deal more in terms of money, time and energy. The mother bears the baby in her body and gives birth. All this is unpaid. We all depend on other people's children for almost everything we need to survive, the food we eat, the services we use. Another person's child , will almost certainly care for you at the end, Big Louis and help with your funeral. We are all living on the grace of those among us who bear and raise children, not the other way round.

For those of you who read/watched A Handmaid’s Tale, I suspect that Mr. Vance might fancy the idea of having ‘Commander’ in front of his name.

Vance should stay at home and look after his own three children. I see he opposes abortion, gun control and aid for Ukraine. Glad I don’t live in America.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Most mothers work these days and pay taxes, but even if they didn’t we need people to have children who will be paying taxes to support pensioners! Honestly 🙄

Cateq Sun 28-Jul-24 14:34:23

Biglouie, my granny told us if you can’t say anything nice then say nothing. I had 4 DC and worked throughout their childhoods. I paid more in taxes than the state paid me in child benefit, so in effect I paid myself. My 4 DC’s all work none have ever claimed benefits, in fact they all pay tax at the higher rate. If I never had them the world would be poorer than it is now.

Comment by Carole Cadwalladr you might find interesting, she begins the article about how misogyny was used about Hilary Clinton in her bid for presidency.

“But eight years on, we haven’t even begun to understand that lesson. We didn’t listen to Hillary. We haven’t yet realised that misogyny is one of the most dangerous weapons on Earth. The best friend of authoritarians and oligarchs. The handmaiden of tyrants.
Worst of all, we haven’t yet realised that misogyny represents the most urgent and pressing threat to global security.
Because it’s misogyny – networked misogyny across multiple global platforms that will earn their tech bro owners billions upon billions of dollars – that is going to decide the 2024 election.
And it’s misogyny that’s going to dictate the future of Nato, the outcome of the war in Ukraine, whether we have peace in Europe or more war. And because this is going to be a firehose that will be directed at a single woman – Kamala Harris – it will be misogyny multiplied: misogyny plus racism, the most toxic combination of all.

This week comments resurfaced that Trump’s newly appointed running mate had made about the woman who looks certain to be the next Democrat candidate. Comments from 2021, in which JD Vance dismissed Kamala Harris as a “childless cat lady”.

We are all at risk. Because this is what I know: bad things are coming. We are in a code red emergency.
Because misogyny isn’t bad people saying bad things that may hurt your feelings. (Though it might.) And misogyny isn’t about silencing women. (Though it does.)
Misogyny is now one of the deadliest weapons on Earth. Misogyny is a dirty bomb in the heart of our information system. Misogyny is electoral interference. Misogyny is a national security threat so lethal we can’t even see it.
Because misogyny is invisible. It’s never about all women, it’s always just about one particular, disagreeable woman who just happens to not be very likeable. Or competent. Who is loud or “shrill” or annoying or who got the job because she slept with a man. Or because she was a diversity hire. A woman who can’t even run her own house let alone a country. A woman who is “nasty”. A woman who isn’t and cannot be the strong leader a nation needs.
Enjoy the sunshine of the Kamala moment. Breathe in the clean fresh air of facts, of evidence, of information. Of hope. Before the toxic social media chimneys crank up the content. Because shortly, the particulates will arrive, will silently and stealthily and invisibly start clogging our bronchial pathways even as the billionaire bros who own the platforms rake in record profits. It’s not so much surveillance capitalism as disaster capitalism.
It took years for us to learn some of the basic facts of what happened in 2016 and it’s still just a partial view. But we now know: Russia attacked Clinton in exactly the same way that Trumpworld attacked Clinton, in exactly the same way that they are attacking Kamala.
We now know how the Kremlin actually paid in roubles for Facebook to pump those messages out across US social media. We now know that Cambridge Analytica, on behalf of the Trump campaign, created an anonymous Crooked Hillary campaign that it fed into the “bloodstream of the internet”.
But neither invented misogyny. They just used it. These were narratives the bros of the broverse were already spreading, which the invisible hand of the social media algorithms were pumping into people’s feeds. The same zombie narratives that have risen again for Kamala and are already being stoked not just by YouTube edgelords and JD Vance fanboys but Russia and China too.
Soon, we won’t even notice. It’ll just be part of the air that we breathe. A choking toxic misogynistic stew that will silently pour over the culture war trenches like mustard gas. Darkness is coming. This is the world social media created. And we’re much further out than we thought.”

Horrible comment by a nasty man.
Imagine if he had said that to someone's face, an individual.

Cruel, disgusting, horrendous commentary for a Running Politcal Vice President.

And the Political Candidate for the Presidency is equally horrifying ..

We’ve got 2 cats and love them to bits. We have several children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but I love my little cats almost ( but not quite) as much. They don’t argue, they’re warm, friendly and grateful. Your kids grow up and leave and have their own lives, it is just a short time that you have them around. Several of my friends at Probus never had kids, most had interesting and varied careers and are fascinating people, certainly never miserable. He sounds like a miserable catless misogynist to me. 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

thank you Wyllow3, I'm so glad people are waking up to the reality of Trump & Vance, such an odious duo I so hope they don't get in
