grandMattie

Good morning from a hazy Bristol. It’s promising to be as hot as yesterday.
I spent a quiet day, after going to the pharmacy for my prescription.
I finished my latest quilt last night, the little blobs are pins which I haven’t removed yet.
Today, nothing much again. I might go to Hobbycraft, but it is nearly two hours by bus…. although I need fabric to make myself a quilt for my bedroom. I want specific colours which I haven’t found yet.
This evening, I’m going in town for a talk on the reredos in my daughter’s church, with some of my own church friends,
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Gosh you. are so clever. It is lovely.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. Feels warm already.

I shall go swimming first. A few items to iron and some card making. My brother will come by this evening.

Good job you’re getting up Greyduster . You might not have slept after seeing those photos.

Have a good day all 🌞👒

Good morning from the Black country another lovely sunny start to the day.
A great day in Worcester yesterday was pleased to see our favourite Portuguese coffee shop was still open, not having been since before the pandemic we did wonder if it would be.
Had some sad news later one of DH fishing members had died, his son who was also a member died a few years ago.
Well I'll get on and do some ironing before it gets to hot, will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Have a good day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another sunny day.

Yesterday my Helper and I worked in the local café garden which is having a transformation. He was digging while I was painting a wheelie bin store.
Last night I cooked haggis for my guest. He loved it.

A beautiful quilt gMattie.

How dreadful Ash for your family to be so closely connected to those shocking murders.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. Karma I hope you are feeling better today. GrandMattie another beautiful quilt. Ash I can quite understand your anger. It doesn't sound like these were local people rioting but bussed in thugs.
Yesterday was such a nice day. The boys and I went to a lovely local park and spent a good two hours there. They were tired out and dgs2 had a decent nap while dgs1 played his Nintendo and watched tv before we went into the garden.
Today the car is having a service then Tesco will deliver later, so it's a day for pottering round the house and garden. Lots of sweeping dead weeds to do, a washing to hang out and much sitting in the shade I think. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy mid Essex. A slight possibility of showers forecast today, but I will still have to water the plants in pots.
A hot day yesterday but I trimmed back a large ivy that threatens to invade the garage at DD1’s. The dog had a good walk with a lovely lady, and hopefully will have the same this morning.
I enjoyed watching the Olympics yesterday, especially the swimming,
I hope you’re feeling better today karma. Have a good day everyone, thoughts with those with medical issues.

Good morning from the river bank in Bournes End. On Monday we had a problem and have had to stay here whilst a new alternator is sourced. Hopefully it will be fitted this morning and we can be on our way.
It has been so hot, yesterday it went up to 36 degrees on the boat, luckily there is a pub about 10 minutes walk away so we have been fed and watered.
I hope you all have a good, peaceful day xx

Good morning all from a very warm North Leicestershire.

An early start today - Dh has a gym session and I am having a ped

grandMattie Wed 31-Jul-24 06:48:05

Ash, I’m so sad for your friend’s little girl. No wonder you’re angry, especially for those thugs to use such a poignant event to riot. So many police injured too. What is this country coming to?

RosesandLilac Wed 31-Jul-24 06:35:04

Good morning from sunny south Glos, another hot day ahead.
I did very little yesterday, the house was lovely and cool so I carried on with my crocheting.
I will take the dog out in a few minutes, we’ll go to the village in the car then do the shady walk through the woods.
The carpenter is coming to do more work on the summerhouse, I have plenty of cold drinks and ice ready for him.
The Southport news is utterly shocking, I can’t imagine the horrors experienced by those at the stabbings. It’s beyond my comprehension why anyone would do something like that to anyone, let alone small children.
As for the rioting…….mindless thugs.

I hope you all have a good day 🌹

Good morning from a still, balmy Cornwall, where I can feel the heat lurking, waiting to accost me. 😁

A lovely blessed day ahead with my dear parentless nephews, their Polish wives and bouncy small sons plus my own sons and families. A priceless gift.

I know people in Southport and am fond of the town. I am beyond sad with the tragedy and ongoing chaos.

Good morning from s somerset, a dry day today

I was zonked yesterday after the dentist, it is the injection that does it, the pain at home was not nice but thank goodness for ibuprofen. One tablet and much rest and I had a good, early, nights sleep. Now for the healing process, I have to be careful in that area, not to disturb the stitches

An easy day for me, slothful moving so as not to get overly hot. I was outside picking produce, such as chioggia beets at 5.15 and the bumble bees were already busy on the dwarf beans. These are so good for small spaces, normal sized, delicious beans

I don`t completely want to waste my day so have resolved to tackle the small pile of `where to put it` stuff in my sewing room. I can tidy 2 items a day to make progress and might also cut out the fluorescent fabric for my cycling jacket, it will soon be autumn and needed

Have a good day

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from what promises to be another very warm South Yorkshire day. I’ve just had a WhatsApp exchange with GS who sent me some very scary photos from Canada. I don’t know what they were doing but he was a very long way up in the air! He is about to go to bed, as I am about to get up. Not much planned for today except to go over and water DD’s house plants.
Have the best day you can folks.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another hot days looms!

I am attending a funeral this morning. A stalwart of the WI and involved in various village activities. She was 84 when she died and had lived her whole life in the house she was born in.

After lunch I will be having my roots done. As I said to a couple of 70 something friends of mine, I’m still not quite ready to go grey!

I saw the GP yesterday. The lump on the back of my head is just a cyst, which is good news. My achey left boob may be caused by scar tissue from the lumpectomy I had in 2017 when I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. She is sending me for a fast track mammogram.

Have a good day everyone.

Ashcombe Wed 31-Jul-24 06:04:59

Good morning from a warm and still Torbay, not conducive to restful sleep.

A beautiful quilt, grandMattie.

I’m very upset and angry to read of the riots last night in Southport. My DS has friends there, one of whom has a daughter, aged eight, who attended the dance event and suffered stab wounds. She is recovering physically but who knows what this will do to her psychologically?

Thinking of all who are grieving or anxious today. ✝️💐
