Yes thank you HS1 all declared on a separate policy for Himself. Some travel insurances wouldn’t entertain him. The one he’s got cost £1,500 for annual cover (he was hoping to go more frequently when he took it out but chemo got in the way - fortunately (!) of course). The company is called All Clear.

It is really nice to hear all your chats. What interesting lives you all live!

Mick: Have you thought that the scrambled TV pictures might be caused by the heat/sunshine? This used to happen to us in Sussex (because we were forced to go digital). Nothing could be done to fix it. I don't know if the same happens here in Norfolk because the aerial is broken and the landlady refuses to fix it, so no television!!!

For me, the bonus is no Olympics!!

Poor hairy dogs are puffing and panting and trying to find somewhere cool to lie. This did not stop the youngest one devouring some sunglasses and two chequebooks out of my wallet in the middle of the night, then starting to retch on the bed (fortunately got him out in time), then tipping the kitchen table, so that the whiteboard crashed onto everything!!

That guy is just a wrecking ball!

Good morning (just) from Malta where it’s 38°C.

I’m late to the party today as I got up early to get on with potting my new plants. It took some time but now looks very nice with a bit of colour. I hope I don’t kill them off too swiftly.

Three of my neighbours stopped to chat which was lovely but I’m always conscious of the fact that I tend to prattle on. A side effect from living alone as I have never been particularly garrulous before.

I can’t begin to describe how delighted I am to hear your good news Urmstongran and that you can go on your travels without having to worry about treatments etc. Bless you both, I know you will make the most of every minute, and how fortuitous that your big birthday coincides with your time away.🥳💐

My back is protesting after my efforts at gardening so I shall have to resort to taking a couple of Panadol.

The few days of summer we have had this week have been a delight and as I have my DD’s dog at the moment I have had the best of it on our many walks. Today a trip on the train to meet my Wednesday pals for lunch, I wonder how that will go?
My kind next door neighbours have offered to look after her but I am scared to let her out of my sight in case she manages to slip out and head back up the road to Oban!

Good morningMick and all from a sunny hazy day on the Angus coast - we're told by the weather app that it is 5° cooler than yesterday with the breeze coming out of the north and east. I'll enjoy the 'coolth'! Yesterday I suffered from what I assume was heat exhaustion - although it could I suppose have been a sneaky return of the exhaustion that came with my recent covid - whatever, I slept on and off all day, all evening and all night! I wouldn't last long in the temperatures you are having down south. I still feel woozy today.
Like everyone else I'm shocked by what happened to those little girls. It really does beggar belief. And then the rioting later? That is just sick.
It was lovely to read Urm's post - I'm so pleased for them both.

Then start to pack for our trip away tomorrow to the caravan, where we will set off for Glastonbury on Friday for the weekend for the Extravaganza there. It is Keane playing this year. Then off to Lyme Regis for a week on the Sunday.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s warm and sunny here.

I meant to post yesterday morning but was rushing about! I was over to mind L’il Miss by 8am as her mum wanted the morning to set up her new classroom for the September term.

Hopefully by now many of you lovely peeps will have heard of our uplifting news. Professor Mansoor has told us to go away and enjoy the summer. Treatment free. Which means we can go away by plane! Flights are now booked for a week today, yay! The family will join us a couple of days later and my 70th birthday falls in that timeframe. My 50th involved opening birthday cards on our little balcony in our ‘happy place’ and I can’t believe how fortunate we are to be there for my 70th.

Life (for now) is indeed good to us.

I’m off on the bus in a couple of hours meeting a friend -we are going to the Trafford Centre. I love spending time with her. She’s been a tower of strength to me during some very dark days.

Himself is meeting his two brothers downstairs for brunch. They’ll enjoy a laugh together and especially so now with such a boost to our situation.

Here’s Matt. It’s nice to be back. I was often too anxious to join in properly before so I want to make the most of The Now.

Like others, I cannot get the Southport tragedy out of my mind and am in despair that a group of political thugs should hijack it for their own ends. I don’t think I understand this country.

Another empty so thank goodness for books and the Olympics - the relay gold was an absolute joy and so deserved. We are promised another hot day before the inevitable threat of heavy thunderstorms tomorrow so must get a load of washing out while I can.

There were running battles along the tourist area of our seafront last night (in front of the arcades and across from the pleasure beach). Youths running around with huge machetes. What is wrong with them 🤬🤬🤬

I have the gym first thing, then food needs to be purchased for the next couple of days.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday the leaden skies cleared without raining out and the afternoon was hot, 20°C. I was out in the garden, deadheading, repotting and general tidying up before sitting out with my coffee. Peas were picked for dinner...fish and chips night.

Today, out into town on minor errands which could be put off but I need to get out! Plus the forecast for the rest of the week is not good...if you believe it.
Later, I will try and strike an item or two off my to-do list and continue with a bit of admin before seeing what there is to watch on the Olympics. I watched the wonderful USA gymnastics team yesterday, gold medal thoroughly deserved.

Good morning from very warm Cambridgeshire. I love the warm weather and sitting out in the evening but the nights are difficult to sleep even with a ceiling fan and windows wide open.

I have been reading the Southport news and feel so sad for all those involved. My DGD2 is doing a dance summer workshop this week and enjoying this, how must all those families feel it is so heartbreaking.

Today will be a walk across the meadows and sit by the river and a coffee with DH before it gets too hot. Then another garden based day relaxing and pottering.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow. I thought I had misheard Alexa, but it is only 7°C! DH says the heating kicked in early this morning.

I too can't stop thing of Southport and its inhabitants. DS' inlaws would still have been there on holiday, but had to come home early, when he became very unwell and ended up in hospital.

What a wasted day yesterday was. It took me ages to go round Tesco for a few items (my legs would not co-operate) compounded by the fact that I mislaid my handheld scanner. 😱)
By the time I got home, I was unable to do much and to my annoyance my plans of pottering in the garden were cancelled. Also, I could not concentrate and consequently made a mess of organising the Glesca Grannies Whats App group. I am an eejit 🤣

Today will be much of the same and I am so annoyed at my uncooperative body!!
However, my sedentary day means I have no excuse for avoiding the parish rota. Four weekend masses means that it is going to be a logistical nightmare. Already I have been inundated by emails alerting me to holiday plans. I need an A1 bot to assist😉

Yesterday was very warm, I tidied up the voluntary work spreadsheet, got some online admin completed and washing was easily dried.
We had a bbq in the evening with our grandson.

Good morning from a dry NE, no sunshine yet.
Friend came and took me shopping yesterday, I got everything I needed and was back home by noon.
I had a lazy afternoon and evening only spending half an hour in the garden reading after going to lock up after the window cleaner.
Sister and BIL may visit this afternoon depending on how she feels, the B12 injections make her very tired.
What is this world coming to ? Young children enjoying their school holiday to be confronted by this monster, let us hope the punishment fits the crime.

Good morning everyone from another very bright and sunny day in Northampton. Will be a go-slow day again I think.

A lovely coffee morning at my neighbour's yesterday; he had indeed been busy baking and produced three home-made cakes including a delicious vodka malt loaf. He turned up in the afternoon at my door with more of it, which I have frozen, each slice individually wrapped.

I need to phone him a bit later this morning as I am having problems with a bathroom window which will not close, in the hopes that he can fix it for me.

Book club after lunch, two books to discuss this month as last month's meeting was cancelled.

Good morning from a somewhat cloudy but already warm Suffolk. We had some breeze yesterday which was most welcome in the heat.

I shall be off soon to my keep fit class which is the last till September. B,the teacher,decided last year, to take the whole of August off and so enjoyed the freedom of no classes,that she is doing it again. A rest richly deserved as she has so many weekly classes in quite a wide geographical area.

Apart from that another peaceful day at home is planned. Thinking of those bereaved and traumatised families in Southport and so upset and angered by the mindless thuggery shown by the outsiders in the riots last night.
