Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey sky but dry at the moment here in brackley after a overnight storm.
Today, my usual bus trip hopefully meet someone I know.
They finally fixed the buildings multi aerial, so can now watch all BBC channels again without disruption .
Take Care,
Mick

So glad your finger sounds better. I was concerned because I once had similar symptoms to yours and it turned out that my finger was poisoned! Ouch!j
Hope it gets properly better soon.

Grandmabatty Mon 05-Aug-24 10:56:05

Crossstitchfan, the poison has drained from it, thanks for asking. Lots of plasters and heat applied. My nail is a little loose on one side so I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm just back from soft play with the boys. It was teeming with wee ones! I suspect the weather and the return to school next week is to blame. Home now for a quiet half hour

Crossstitchfan I'm holding off on treatment at the moment. It's been subjected to heat. If that doesn't draw it, then I'll get to the chemist later. Dustyangel I'm glad my dinner choice brought back a nice memory for you. I had a fancy for beef olives when I did my Tesco order. Now, I'm not so sure!😂

Hi Grandmabatty. Just wondered how your finger is. Hopefully much better by now.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Aug-24 10:44:34

Urmstongran enjoy date night 🩷🥂💙

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
My sister from the south is still here and we are having a nice time. Yesterday we did a bit of retail therapy, then lunch in my favourite small pretty park. I bought another hanging basket as I gave my original basket to my DD.

DS came over in the evening and we had a meal out. He also replaced the old tv in my bedroom with the new one.
After the meal, we sat out in the garden with coffee, very nice.
Today we might have a little walk in the sand dunes.

Thoughts to Gingster and all with worries 🌺

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and damp. It's cloudy too. Rain was not in the forecast and it's to be sunny and warm. Ash that's annoying for you, especially when you managed well at your keep fit class.
Yesterday was very productive. Lots of gardening work, washing floors, washing and ironing too. The car had it's service and is fully taxed so yesterday was an expensive day! I was in bed early too Greyduster and was up twice in the night.
Today I have a chiropodist appointment fairly early. Afterwards I intend to make lime curd. I've been contemplating it for a while and have all the ingredients to hand. I might clean the windows too. My left thumb is painful and looks poisoned so it'll need a plaster on to draw it. A kaolin poultice I think my gran used for such things. Has anyone heard of that? Spelling is probably wrong. Dinner tonight will be beef olives on a red wine sauce. Have a good day all

Yes, I have heard of a kaolin poultice. When I was a child in the 50s, they were used all the time. They were very effective then so I hope yours does the trick for you, Grandmabatty. They seem to be out of fashion now, new treatments etc. I suppose. I can’t help thinking though that some of the old treatments were better than the ones we are offered now.

Good morning from Bedfordshire - just some gentler gardening today - hoping the weather holds

dustyangel Thu 01-Aug-24 09:20:33

Good morning all from a very warm Algarve, a pleasant 23° at the moment but 34° promised for later.🥵
Great news from Urms and I’m pleased that you will both be back in your happy place soon.

Not much different happening here but Grandmabatty’s post brought back happy memories for me. Beef Olives was the first meal I ever cooked for DH when he first came to my home to meet my parents. I have no idea why I chose that when our usual Saturday lunchtime fayre was more likely to be sausages or mince but he obviously approved although now he admits that he can’t remember what he ate at all! I’ve still got the magazine cutting with the recipe on tucked away with my treasures.

Good morning everyone from a much cooler and damp Northampton; we have obviously had rain overmight. Thundery showers forecast this afternoon.

My gardener came yesterday and tidied up a few things for me including a front border - now I don't know what to do with it! I left him busy while I went to book club after lunch.

Hairdresser this morning; I shall be 80 next birthday and I am still not ready to embrace the grey! Then hope to get to Sainsbury's etc this afternoon to gather ingredients for DGD2's visit tomorrow.

No need to call on my neighbour's assistance yesterday to fix my stuck window. As I thought, it had locked itself; using one of late DH's many screwdrivers I managed to prise the lock cover off, found a window key and unlocked it. Success! Am now able to open and close it as usual again.

Must get my skates on and get ready for the hairdresser, I need to get a bus shortly.

Enjoy the cooler weather today everyone.

GrannySomerset Thu 01-Aug-24 08:53:49

After a sticky night it’s no cooler this morning - a thunder storm might clear the air but one doesn’t seem very likely. More domestic nothing much - too hot to garden or to tidy out a cupboard or two so it’s a good thing I am enjoying re-reading the Shardlake novels and can spend the day in sixteenth century York.

Thinking of Marydoll and her demanding day today, and of everyone with plans. Cooler by the weekend!

aggie Thu 01-Aug-24 08:36:21

Good morning all , it’s grey and humid here in Co Armagh, bbc tells me it’s 15
I won’t do much today , the rain in the night has done plenty of watering in the garden so I’ll retreat inside and continue my crochet
Hope we all have a happy day

Grammaretto Thu 01-Aug-24 08:34:51

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's overcast.
I slept badly last night which doesn't bode well for the candle lit concert I'm going to tonight. My start of the Edinburgh Festival.

Your poor DD Gingster

Happy Birthday for your DD GrannyIvy

I hope your arthritis pain eases Rosiesmaw

I'll bet you are excited about your upcoming trip Urms

Lovely that the injured child is being supported Ash. But who knows what effect the trauma will leave on the survivors.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 01-Aug-24 08:24:18

Blimey karmalady once again I’m in total awe of your expertise and knowledge! Just wow! 🤩
I get stressed just trying to thread a needle. So I don’t do it very often.

RosesandLilac Thu 01-Aug-24 08:20:08

Good morning from a sticky south Glos where I had been hoping for rain , to no avail 🙄
Yesterday I barely coped with the heat, it was so oppressive. I hope it’s cooler today 🤞🏻
Just back from walking the dog, now I need to tackle some housework 😊
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Georgesgran Thu 01-Aug-24 08:18:14

Good morning from Durham, where it’s cool and raining.
I haven’t posted for a while, as I’ve had a strange phase of feeling uneasy and that I was just ‘going through the motions’ of life, without any real purpose.
Anyway, new month and new attitude, I hope.
Little Dog is here today and I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning. I have a list of things to sort out - roof, radiators, broadband - unfortunately all expensive, but have to be done.
Delighted at Urms news and off to their happy place too.
Best wishes to all. X

Urmstongran Thu 01-Aug-24 08:12:10

Good morning everyone from a damp south Manchester. We had torrential rain around 4am with rumblings of thunder in the distance. It was sooo humid at 2am I woke and couldn’t get back off to sleep. I must have drifted so my sleep was in two halves. I feel like a space cadet this morning. Alexa tells me it’s 16°C at present, rising to 23°C later.

I’ve just peeped at the BBC website for the weather in Málaga - it’s 41°C! 😱

Like you yesterday LLFL I’m off to the hairdressers today to get my roots done. I’m 70 later this month and not quite ready to embrace the grey.

Thursday = date night (be able to show off my coiffure!). Curry is usually our go-to but in light of the fantastic news we were given on Monday afternoon we might go for an upgrade as we gaze into one another’s eyes. Honestly, all these years on and Himself still has me laughing. We get on so well. Lucky us!

Taichinan Thu 01-Aug-24 08:10:48

Good morning everyone, it was a grey day when I got up, and looked as if it may have been raining, but now the sun is through and it looks set fair.
Gingster so sorry to hear your poor daughter is so ill again - I hope she feels better today flowers. Such a worry for everyone
Nothing to report from here. Although I love the sun and this lovely weather I just can't cope with the heat (which is a lot less than the heat being experienced down south - and in Malta!). So nothing much is being done. But tai chi this morning, and then as little as possible shall be done except for posting DGS1's birthday card. He's 31 🫣. ( Surely not?!)
Have a lovely day all and stay cool x

Sar53 Thu 01-Aug-24 08:10:34

Good morning from the same mooring at Bournes End. We had marine engineers here most of the day yesterday, back again this morning. Hopefully, fingers 🤞 that all will be well. We are both a bit fed up with not going anywhere.
The last three days have been so hot but we've just had a small rain shower.
Gingster my very best wishes for your daughter.
I hope everyone has a lovely day xx

brook2704 Thu 01-Aug-24 07:52:56

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and warm
Sending ❤️ to your DD Gingster such a brave lady
I enjoyed a really lovely time at the garden party yesterday, perfect weather and lovely food and so good to catch up with friends. A quiet day today with lots to keep me busy in the garden
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Aug-24 07:51:28

And thank you Marydoll too

RosiesMaw2 Thu 01-Aug-24 07:49:43

Good morning all - a sticky night in N Bucks and as my left shoulder seems to have joined the Osteoarthritis club, a miserable one as I can no longer lie on either side (preferred position) and rolling over in my sleep woke me up every hour with really rather nasty acute pain. I could have wept 🙁. I just wanted to roll over and get to sleep but the pain kicked in within a couple of minutes.
It’s fine with daytime activities(apart from doing up my bra) and I’m reluctant to go down the Naproxen route again .
Och I’ll just have to sleep sitting up and get over myself.
Meeting a friend for coffee etc this afternoon - I had a wonderful time at Beckworth Emporium yesterday resulting in a few new tops and about 10 birthday cards for use in September and for my stash.
@ Nannyjan Check up at Dentist revealed I should have a Crown on one troublesome tooth. So that will be £319
when I read that Nannyjan my first thought was that they were perhaps including the Crown Jewels too! (I bet the dentist is sick of hearing that one!) Good luck with that.

Wishing you all relief from your pains or ills and a pleasant day.

harrigran Thu 01-Aug-24 07:49:15

Good morning from a grey and damp NE. I knew it would rain as I went out and watered the lavender and geraniums on the patio last night.
Sister and BIL visited for a little while yesterday afternoon and then I spent some time reading in the garden.
Nothing on the calendar today so will do some admin in the study but not for long as it is the warmest room in the house.
Have a good day.

monk08 Thu 01-Aug-24 07:48:18

Good morning all from the Black country, thunderstorm overnight which has left it feeling a lot fresher.
Shopping today and maybe a little housework.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
May you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Liberty Thu 01-Aug-24 07:46:07

Good morning from a Suffolk like most of the rest of the country it seems….cloudy and warm but no rain overnight. I decided to water the pots in the back yard late last night and am glad I did.

Your poor DD Gingster. My iPad just tried to change your name to Gangster! I hope all the tests yesterday help to reveal a helpful treatment plan.

Off to my stretch class after breakfast and then the rest of the day will depend on how the weather turns out.

Lovely to see Urms posting again and in such high spirits. Long may they continue.
