Oh The Woe of Pesty Flies!

This has been a sunless summer, endless overcast days and hence few flies, bees, wasps or butterflies. Without insects there will have been few baby birds reared.
Last year the rain started in October and rained steadily through to June. Now it’s pouring, day and night.
You may be cross at a fly but our climate is changing fast and affecting all the wildlife.

Too late in the season now but I have a tip. As I can't stand flies in the house I use net curtains to keep them out. I hang a net over the part of the window that opens and then put one of those springy rods at the bottom. The net can then be taut over the open window. No need to have a net curtain over the whole window if you prefer not to. In the kitchen I only have the net over the part that opens. In the bedrooms I have full-length nets with a rod at the top and a springy rod just under the part that opens. Only had to chase 3 flies in the house this year (and we live in the countryside). Good luck.

When I'm at work on my laptop and this stupid fly has been buzzing around me all day and I can't kill it because it's too fast for me to grab, then it lands on my arm so I'm about to squash it ... failed again ... and shout F- OFF! Then realize there's a customer stood at my desk! Thankfully he laughed ... !
