Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 15° C.
Another here, who couldn't sleep, nothing to do with the heat, I coughed all night.
When I asked the other day about my recent chest xray, I was told that they were taking ten weeks to come back!! 😡 Cough on MD!

Yesterday was rather full on to say the least.

* BabyD was sick after breakfast in the middle of one of my coughing fits, which meant she had to be stripped.

* We eventually set off and I asked DH, why we were going in the wrong direction. Oh, I have no petrol , despite saying he would fill up on Monday after golf.

* On asking if he had put her water bottle in the car ( his only job), he had not. So back home we went, I couldn't find it and she had broken the spare the other day.

* We eventually arrived in a gridlocked Irvine, because the main road was shut. Don't worry, remember I worked down here, ( Yes, forty years ago!!) I know all the short cuts. He DID NOT!

* Twenty minutes later, stuck in a traffic jam, Dollie had a nose bleed. Gran, its a bad one, but I have stuffed cotton wool (which I keep in her door for emergencies). up it.
I went into my bag to get tissues, to find there were none.
I had forgotten DD took them at the weekend, when she spilled her drink.

* Eventually, we arrived at the Harbouride, where I suggested we stop for lunch. Dollie then vomited, due to the blood she had ingested. 😭 Thank goodness I am a Sherpa and had packed for every eventuality! 😉

* BabyD at this point was vocally making it clear she needed fed. I sorted her, while wee Dollie 💕 sat patiently.
She took one look at Dollie's more interesting lunch and threw hers away!

You will be asking where Mr MD was, he was definitely there, I think.😉.

We did eventually make the beach, only to find it was heaving with teenagers, down on the train from Glasgow. The loud music was horrendous.🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

Bearing in mind that I had an excruciatingly painful back, I think I did pretty well!
The important thing was that my girl's had a ball! 😍
The only downside was that Babydoll had a full blown strop, when she had to leave and threw herself face down in the sand.. How do you clean a baby, covered in snot, sand and tears?

For all those who are struggling, especially *Gingster's daughter and a granspal, who is unwell, I pray things will improve.
I wish you all a pleasant day, folks and I hope mine is less stressful.

Gingster Fri 02-Aug-24 07:30:18

Good morning all and another early riser here with not much sleep . Thunderstorms didn’t materialise and we had very little rain here in our corner of Essex. I’m disappointed!

Thankyou so much for all your kind thoughts for my DD. We can only wait and see!

I had a coffee with my ‘oldest’ friend of 70 years. She is the kindest, sweetest person who has always been there for me. We know everything about each other. 🥰.

Today is another ‘old’ friends 75th birthday and he is taking our usual Friday group out for lunch. He started school with my Dh (again, 70 years ago).

I’ll pop over to DD’s this morning to see how things are.

Yesterday I spent an hour reading in my coolish bedroom to avoid the heat. Little pooch joined me as I had the fan on. 😉.

Take care all 🌸

Beechnut Fri 02-Aug-24 07:26:12

Good morning everyone from sunny Severnside.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday lulu 🎂🎉

No weekly shop today. I’m off to a garden centre and then on to see Beechnutella.
So far I’ve been able to sleep by keeping the fan on me during the evening and when I get into bed I keep still.

Have a good day all 👒🌞

Redcar Fri 02-Aug-24 07:25:55

Happy Birthday luluaugust.

Good morning from mid essex, where it’s grey and cool at the moment. No rain for us yesterday so will need to water the pots.
Traffic very noisy with windows open, suffocatingly hot with them shut, so it took ages to go to sleep. I did manage about 5 hours, so not too bad.
Will need to go shopping this morning, need some more dog food (dried) as she’s only eating the dried food at the moment.
DD2 and family coming round for fish and chips this evening.
Have a pleasant day everyone, thoughts as always for those with health problems and anxieties.

Urmstongran Fri 02-Aug-24 07:22:52

Good morning everyone from sunny south Manchester where Alexa tells me that currently it is 14°C and will rise to 24°C later today. Lovely.

We are nipping over to mind the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss for a couple of hours while their mum meets friends in the square for coffee. Later they are all setting off to go camping on a working farm in Buxton, booked for 2 nights by our Yorkshire Lass and her husband. They are all looking forward to walks and barbecuing and the children are super excited.

Himself wants us to join in at the MacMillan group today. He will share his good news before we go away on holiday.

At some stage I want to pop into Boots below us and print some photographs off. So easy these days!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 02-Aug-24 07:20:47

Happy Birthday lulusugust 🎂🍾🎉

GrannyGravy13 Fri 02-Aug-24 07:19:03

Morning everyone it’s 19° with light rain due anytime soon. The thunder grumbled yesterday but hardly any rain.

We have The Imp first thing, then his other Nanny is picking him up, both of us are making the most of our time with him before he starts school in September.

DH and I are out to a local tapas restaurant this evening.

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️

Good morning all from an already sticky North Leicestershire.

Waitrose, the butcher's, M&S and the pharmacy this morning while our cleaner works her magic.

DD2 and DGD2 will arrive at some point this pm. The rest of the family, tomorrow.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Fri 02-Aug-24 07:06:28

Good morning from W Kent where we have had rain overnight
Today is my birthday 77! My DB is coming this morning and this afternoon DD2 and GC are coming for birthday cake. Later we shall meet some more of the family for a meal. So a busy day
So sorry for those not sleeping in this heat it is very wearing.
Best wishes to all

glammagran Fri 02-Aug-24 06:56:54

Good morning to you all.

Yesterday was the worst day for the heat due to the very high humidity. Fan in bedroom showed temperature to be 31°c when I woke up. Outside it was 29°c at 10am. We had both GC’s for 5 hours yesterday as DD had a wedding dress fitting. They were both fractious as they were hot and fought a fair bit. Took them to Lacock where despite the heat they had a good runaround and GD terrified me going on the climbing equipment for older children in the playground. GD and ourselves foraged a large quantity of perfect blackberries on Wednesday. We were amazed to see them ripened on the last day of July.

I feel wiped out this week after 3 days of childcare and have had no chance to sit out in the sun. As soon as they’d gone yesterday it started to rain very briefly and there were a few rumbles of thunder.

Today is a day of recovery so no plans and I shall pretend the housework doesn’t need doing.

I hope Gingster’s daughter is feeling better today. Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 02-Aug-24 06:53:57

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dry. Showers are forecast. Harrigran I'm sorry you couldn't sleep. Will you get a nap later? You too RosesandLilac. Mizuna that's just like my dgs1. He runs at full speed everywhere.
Yesterday I had a chiropodist appointment which I had forgotten about so I'm glad they phoned the day before to remind me. Then my motivation disappeared and I did very little the rest of the day.
Today I'm hoping to get rid of moss from the drive. It's a job I dislike but a little at a time will help. Some gardening too is on the cards before the showers start this afternoon. Then I'll watch the Olympics. My thumb appears to be healing itself as I've changed plasters regularly. I'm not sure what I'll have for dinner yet. Have a good day all.

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Aug-24 06:33:50

Morning, slightly cooler in S Hants, the thunder rattled around for a couple of hours yesterday tea time, but no rain. I’d been weeding in the morning, but indoors once the sun came through. Today I’m out for lunch with a friend, pub tonight with MrJ where we’ll catch up with friends after grocery delivery.
What a smashing picture Mizuna makes me smile.

Good morning from south Glos, no rain here unfortunately. I barely slept last night so feeling like a piece of chewed string this morning 😵‍💫, despite having two fans running the air was heavy.
Thankfully it’s a fresher feel to the air here at the moment, I seriously struggle when it’s oppressively muggy.
Yesterday I plodded through household stuff, got the washing dried in record time, flopped about afterwards and by yesterday evening I was grinding to a halt. I’m hoping today is cooler 🙏
Dog has her lovely walker this morning, I need to dead head the roses and dahlias and do a bit of garden tidying before it gets too warm again. Then nothing planned.
Take care everyone 🌹

karmalady Fri 02-Aug-24 06:27:03

Good morning from s somerset, better temperatures here today and no rain

Surprise from close bros, residual money lurking in late husband account from 9 years ago. They must have had an audit and have transferred to me plus interest plus a goodwill amount.

DPD have told me that my 12kg parcel is officially `lost`. I am not happy, it contained lots of good carving items for my ds, worth a lot of money. Extremely well packed etc. I did not insure it as there are no invoices but they have auto £50 insurance included. They want paperwork plus card from collection, none of which I have. No point me being furious, all it hurts are me and ds and we have decided to move on or will get `eaten up` by them. It has likely been stolen, ds warned me, he once worked in a warehouse

Nicer things now, fluorescent vest is looking fab, half finished and I have ordered a pattern for sunday joggers. I have thick warm fabric and want to make some for me. They will be very warm, I have fabric. Winter prep

Have a good day

Good morning from Malta where it’s going to be very hot again today.

It was too hot to walk to the village yesterday so I took the car, something I rarely do, but it’s hard to breathe when the temp hits over 40°C!

Met with my financial advisor, what a lovely lady she is. Her son goes to the Rafa Nadal Academy and when she knew I was a fan she showed me video on her phone of them meeting him and getting his autograph.

Spent the morning at DD3’s while she deep cleaned the boys room, then went to pick them up. Both very happy now at nursery although Twin 1 was taking a nap when we arrived and had to be woken up. He’s so good natured, no fussing at all.

I came home to watch tennis. Easier said than done as I had to search through many channels to find it.

I have a hair appointment at 12.30 after which more tennis. I have no other plans really. In this heat I don’t tend to do much!

Lovely photo Mizuna, your DGS sounds just like our Twin2 who we call Hurricane!

Have a good day all.☀️

Mizuna Fri 02-Aug-24 06:21:23

Good morning from a cloudy but very warm Cornwall. My nephews go home to London today after a wonderful week of beaching and fun. Spent two precious hours on my own with their wives yesterday, going through family photos. Lovely women I'm so delighted to have in our family. As they're both Polish I have lots to learn from them about their home country.

Today, library and a bus trip somewhere to give my knee a stretch in a different space.

The photo is my grandson escaping. I love the jacket beginning to fly away. He only has two speeds; fast and supersonic. 😄

Greyduster Fri 02-Aug-24 06:15:05

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. I suspect we had rain in the night, but it’s bright this morning. I had a good walk with the Thursday group yesterday. It was cool in the woods. However, I think I may have picked up something in one of my tyres in the car park as I had a tyre deflation warning coming on when driving home. None of them looks flat. I shall have to investigate further now they’ve cooled down. Nothing much planned for today except general cleaning.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 02-Aug-24 05:59:02

Morning all from a muggy West Oxfordshire.

I’m sorry you can’t sleep Harrigran. I think we’ve all been there.

We had a lovely Afternoon Tea yesterday courtesy of our daughter. Fortunately we didn’t sit outside at the venue but had a table indoors with a view of the river. There was torrential rain and thunder as we ate our delicious food which we washed down with Prosecco and a pot of tea.

Today we are out for lunch at probably my favourite local restaurant.

Elder son was in touch yesterday to ask if they could stay for a few days next week as they were having their bathroom done. Of course I said yes.

We are moving some pictures round today. I bought some more special string yesterday. Thing is, OH hates DIY of any kind, but it is a two person job.

Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie Fri 02-Aug-24 05:53:42

Good morning from a bright Bristol. We didn’t get any of the forecast rain. It’s silly to whinge about this as we have been complaining about having rain all summer
So sorry you haven’t managed to sleep, harri, I’ve been awake for nearly three hours…
I had a good tai chi session yesterday, only doing a shibashi standing up, the rest was sitting down. The tutor certainly made us work though!
I started cutting out the pieces for my new quilt; chatted to neighbours, one of whom admired my lobelia which is magnificent.
I’m going into town this morning, stopping at Lidl for some sun dried tomatoes in particular; I am very fond of them.
I hope th3 start to your weekend is pleasant. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
