Liberty I’m so glad you had a lovely day at Hyde Hall. It is a really lovely garden. My friend had told me about the Flower show and asked if I wanted to go along, but I had other commitments. A shame as we could have met up for a quick hello 👋.

Gingster Sun 04-Aug-24 08:00:53

Good morning all and it’s blissfully cool in the garden and a bit overcast.

Yesterday Dd and little DGD came and we watched the Olympics (medals galore) 🥇🥈🥉, while little DGD found lots of craft to do. She decided to make up a parcel for her big sis as she hasn’t seen her for a while. Gd1 will be so delighted with all the things she wrapped up. 😍.

Today I’m taking Dd food shopping. (I am saying this quietly). She’s feeling better! Thanks to the ‘dreaded’ steroids the consultant has prescribed. She swore she would never go on them again after last time. Weight gain, and the agony of coming off them. BUT they are like a miracle cure and she is desperate for some relief. I’m holding my breath.!

Roast chicken for lunch and lots of veg for Dd . I’m feeding her up as she’s lost so much weight. Good food now that she has an appetite.

Roseandlilac I love your blanket. I think I’ll have a go as I love crochetting but my blankets are always squares sewn together. It will be something different.

Ash goodness me Christmas in the shops already 🙄. I did see an autumn display selling garlands, berries and the like. I thought that was too early.

Take care and enjoy your Sunday. 🌸

Good morning from a cloudy but warm Suffolk.

I love the colours of your blanket Roses. What wonderful crafters there are amongst us.

I so agree with all the comments about the violence and thuggery shown by those involved in the recent riots. Apart from the mindless damage to vehicles and property there is the serious injuries inflicted on the police. I how dare some of them wear t- shirts with photographs of the 3 little girls so brutally murdered and thereby link themselves with them. Truly shocking.

On a much more positive note I had the most lovely day yesterday at the flower show at Hyde Hall. Although it is only about 2 hours from me,neither my friend and I had ever been and the gardens are absolutely spectacular…..the most interesting RHS ones I’ve ever seen. The flower show was an added bonus and the weather, being cooler and somewhat cloudy, was just perfect for spending over 5 hours there.

The volunteers we spoke to said that Friday had been too hot to be comfortable walking around. You were right Gingster we had such a lovely day.

I have an all day meeting on Wednesday so I should make a start on reading some of the paperwork which is all online. I do find it more tiring than years ago when we had actual paper copies.

Hope all have a good day.

Good morning all from a very bright day here on the east coast of Fife.
I had a great day in the sunshine yesterday when I went to my local Glen with my 2 new carers and their 2 lovely daughters.

I made up a picnic for us yesterday 3 hard boiled eggs, sandwiches, cold boiled potatoes, a melon, juicy cherries, bananas and lots of soft drinks.
One of the little girls enjoyed the food while the other one ran around chasing the big ugly seagulls.

Much fun was had by all yesterday.
I’ll be resting today, probably watching the Olympics.
It was good to hear the lady boxer who got punched near to death by a he/she was awarded the prize money even although she didn’t win. Pity the fight was unfair to begin with. Oh and I got my lawn mowed again yesterday

Have a good day my friends as best you can - I will

GrannySomerset Sun 04-Aug-24 07:33:33

Woken by cramp so am on GN much earlier than usual and admiring a lovely summer morning with a fine day forecast. Church in one of our four beautiful churches the only plan but the Sunday paper and some Olympic watching will surely feature.

Like most of us I am outraged by the behaviour of a tiny minority who seem bent on causing damage and injury with no real end in view and feel so sorry for the police who seem to be the target. Such thuggery is so depressing and makes me yearn for heavy and prolonged rain. We do seem prone to these summer outbursts of violence and social media is making it all much worse.

Jaxjacky Sun 04-Aug-24 07:31:58

Morning, high cloud and 14 in S Hants, we need rain.
Yesterday was quiet, coloured my hair, read the paper, then we went to our local for a 60th birthday.
Must wash bedding today, I’ll be pickling beetroot too Grandmabatty after I’ve pulled it.

Good morning Mick and All from a cloudy warm South Bucks.

I too will be rooting for Carlos Bellasnana Novak has won many Titles but it never seems enough for him, whereas Rafa is the true Sportsman.

Steak, mushrooms and garlic parmentier (I think that is how you spell it 🧐) potatoes and a nice glass of wine today.

brook2704 Sun 04-Aug-24 07:24:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and patches of blue
A gorgeous blanket roses I really like the colours
I’d not heard of the Playmobil factory Bellas I pleased the boys had a good time, my DGD would love it there too!
No plans for today except to spend the day in the garden, I can’t believe how quickly the day goes when I’m happily pottering outside. DH is busy hedge cutting, he’s taking the height down a fair bit before it gets unmanageable.
Goodness Ash that’s early!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

luluaugust Sun 04-Aug-24 07:18:43

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. DB is still staying with us so we shall walk to collect a paper and I have made a fish pie for lunch. I am sure there will be more Olympic watching later
Love the blanket R&L
Sorry about your breakfast Mick
Best wishes

Redcar Sun 04-Aug-24 07:18:20

Good morning everyone from a cool, overcast mid Essex. We had a very short shower yesterday morning, but not enough to do any good. Back to watering the pots this morning!
Managed to mess up the programming on DD1’s television yesterday, so using the iPlayer on my iPad to watch the Olympics. Will no doubt get an eye roll 🙄 from DD1 when they get back from their holidays!
DD2 will come round to walk the dog this morning & I may go with her to get some exercise. Will try to find some newspapers this morning too.
Otherwise a quiet day. Roses your blanket is lovely, I bet it’s warm too.
ash I can’t believe the Christmas display! I know the National Trust and RHS shops have their Christmas cards and next year’s calendars on display, as apparently they sell lots to holidaymakers at this time of year. It does seem early though.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Grandmabatty Sun 04-Aug-24 07:16:45

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dull. Rain is forecast later. RosesandLilac your blanket is beautiful! Such skill. Ash that window must win the prize for the earliest Christmas display. Pantglas the lime curd was very easy to make. I've never tried making lemon curd either but might have a go.
Yesterday I had a very lazy day. I was tired after my bad night so I napped in the afternoon. I did manage to change the sheets and duvet cover and clean the windows. My neighbour gave me potatoes and beetroot from her allotment and we blethered for ages. They are a lovely couple.
Today I will go to Aldi for food and make a slow cooker pot of lentil soup. I'll make a chicken pie too and roast the beetroot before pickling it all. A busy day in the kitchen. Have a good day all.

monk08 Sun 04-Aug-24 07:02:57

Good morning all from an overcast and cooler start to the day here in the Black country.
Lovely blanket Roses .
DS and the boys are coming for dinner, DiL will be making her way back from Cornwall after her swim.
Tablet needs charging so will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your Sunday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Greyduster Sun 04-Aug-24 07:01:52

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy, cool South Yorkshire. We did get the sun eventually yesterday and managed to sit outside after lunch. It was lovely to see DS and DiL and the lasagne and salad went down very well. I hadn’t made one for ages. We couldn’t have a walk after lunch because DiL had not brought suitable shoes so DS cut and trimmed my back lawn and did a couple of other “I can’t reach it” jobs. Today I must tackle the freezer in the garage which has a red light that won’t go out. I intend to empty it and leave it to defrost and then see what happens. I fancy I shall be looking for a new one very soon!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Sun 04-Aug-24 06:44:51

Good morning from a cooler but sunny Torbay.

A beautiful blanket, RosesandLilac and your planter plans sound lovely.

I agree with you about the senseless violence, grandMattie; what is wrong with people?

Yesterday, I waited in Waterstones coffee shop while DH completed a few errands as my knee and ankle were grumpy. The photo shows a charity shop with a Christmas display in its window already! I kid you not!

An early start as I am the accompanist (piano) for the 9.30 service today. We are in an interregnum since our much missed priest retired at Easter so I have no idea who will be leading it.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

karmalady Sun 04-Aug-24 06:44:43

Good morning from s somerset, a slightly cooler day today

I had to stop myself from taking my perfect fit blind frame off a patio door yesterday, I am itching to try and repair the cassette blind broken strings. The cellular blind is fully down and floppy but is doing the job of blocking sun. Never done it before so am being very cautious as the sun is so intense

Fluorescent top is finished, good for cycling on duller cooler days. All these years and I was never able to find a suitable top, they are made for taller thinner people. I wish I had tackled making one years ago

Two patterns arrived, one for warm trackies, to save on winter heating costs and one is a nice plain summer nightie. I need to get rid of the ones I have in my drawer. Too fancy, too big

Plenty of nice things to do today, starting with a long cycle ride

Have a good day

hollysteers Sun 04-Aug-24 06:44:38

Good morning Mick and all from a Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. Of course the sun has disappeared as I’m off on a coach day trip to Shropshire so this is an early start for me. I even managed an early night, unthinkable, although the cat decided 4 a.m. was a good time to jump on the bed to demand food…
Sorry you missed your brekkie Mick and such lovely work R&L!
Thoughts to all🌺

Puss Sun 04-Aug-24 06:36:30

Good morning everyone from Belfast
We have rain here today. Yesterday dry and the sun was out not too warm.
Church this morning it's a family service and afterwards a picnic, looks like that will have to be indoors.
DD coming for dinner my turn 😁.
Blanket is lovely Roses such hard work, lovely colours.
Take care everyone.

Bellasnana Sun 04-Aug-24 06:20:15

Good morning from Malta. Need I mention the weather? It’s August so it’s going to be very hot for the foreseeable.🥵

Took the boys to the Playmobil factory yesterday. There are lots of toys to play with and it’s air conditioned so they had a lovely time. Both have come on a lot since starting nursery. I’m glad they are happy there.

Sat with them while DD3 was out and thoroughly enjoyed them. I miss our long days together.

Mass this morning after which FaceTime chat with my pal in Leicester. She will be coming over for a visit in a few weeks.

Will watch the Men’s Final through my fingers as I so badly want Alcaraz to win it for Spain, He’s up against Djokovic who is also determined to win it, so anything can happen.

Your blanket is lovely Roses.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Pantglas2 Sun 04-Aug-24 05:58:08

Good morning Mick and all from a cool dry north Wales coast where the seagulls are competing with Mr PGs snoring 😴- lawdy 😡

That lime curd sounds delish Grandmabatty - I’ve never made it as lemons are free in Spain (so many friends there with trees galore 🤗)

I’ll have to get some oregano planted Mizuna as it’s probably the herb I use the most - have been drying thyme for the last few days and my sage is thriving. The rosemary came from a Waitrose pot many years ago and is a huge bush dominating the herb garden and needs constant trimming.

A quiet day planned after my trot for a paper shortly, I’ll pop back later and see what delights you have in store…😊

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 04-Aug-24 05:55:58

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

A beautiful blanket!

Another quiet day. OH will be glued to the Olympics. Next week promises to be very busy so today will be a good opportunity to relax.

Have a good day.

grandMattie Sun 04-Aug-24 05:52:40

Oh! I meant to say how saddened (and angry) I was about the rent-a-mob’s behaviour all over the country, and the injury to the police.

grandMattie Sun 04-Aug-24 05:50:48

Lovely blanket, rose. For you to keep?

grandMattie Sun 04-Aug-24 05:49:39

Good morning from Bristol. The weather has indeed cooled down quite a bit due to a strongish breeze, though we still haven’t had any rain.
Had a quiet day, with just the church coffee. About 18 people attend, rarely the same people all the time; just a few regulars, which is good.
I had a happy hour outside reading, then chatting to neighbours. A lot of conjecture on the potential purchasers of the flat adjoining me. The lady died about three months ago. Probate must have been granted very quickly!
Nothing much happening today, the usual church service. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Sun 04-Aug-24 05:47:31

My blanket

RosesandLilac Sun 04-Aug-24 05:47:01

Good morning Mick and followers, it’s cool, gray and dry here in south glos, a pleasant change in the weather for me.
I finished crocheting my blanket yesterday, I am rather pleased with it.
I enjoyed sitting outside with my book in the sunshine, a rather lazy day but who cares?!
The garden is looking pretty good despite the lack of rain, a few tweaks needed but otherwise it’s as I want it.
I have ordered a raised planter to go under one of the summerhouse windows. I want to fill it with scented annuals like mignonette and dianthus, under sown with hyacinths and Thalia narcissus and I will add hanging basket plants too.
Have a lovely day
