Hair quandary

I would happily have left mine alone if it had gone pure white or even silver, but it was a horrible salt and pepper grey which really did nothing for me whatsoever. I see women with beautiful white or silver hair and think it looks so beautiful. I would definitely embrace mine if it would only go like that.

Stopped colouring my hair 15 yrs ago an never looked back. Both my in their 50s daughters let their grey come in during lockdown they too love not having the palaver of dying etc. we are the age we are and what’s the point in continually denying we have grey hair. Let your natural colour shine and it will be so much healthier looking.

I stopped having my hair coloured as worried about the chemicals and talk of it affecting our health. Once it was completely grown out I am silver grey. My hair is so much better to the touch and looks shiny. In hindsight I wish I had never been so vain in having it coloured

Yes stop colouring your hair. My hair is totally grey now and I love it. I’m constantly getting compliments and feel liberated from the tyranny of colouring!
Grey hair is associated with ageing in our youth-obsessed society. In itself grey/silver is a beautiful colour and aesthetically pleasing.

I too hate all the palaver at the hairdresser, so every 6-8 months just use a quick colour at home, takes 25 minutes sitting about, costs £6-£7.

10 years ago I stopped going to have my hair coloured and now do it myself at home.

All that small talk while they spent what feels like ages at the hairdressers and the ever increasing cost.

My hair went (very) white when I stopped colouring it in my early 50s. I love the colour now and it’s brilliant not having to go through the colouring process. Maybe you could try it and see. You can always go back to colouring it.

Try it, if you dont like it then go back to having foils if that’s what you decide.

I never looked back when I stopped having high/lowlights in my hair about 20 years ago. At 78 I am quite happy with the 50/50 ish grey and also just wash and go allowing it to dry naturally with no styling. A good wet cut every few weeks and that is it - so liberating! I think the same regime would be great for you considering your Aquafit dunkings.
Go for it!

Two weeks ago I decided I was just not ready to go grey. The front was grey but the back still fairly brunette. So, I had a short bob cut rather than a longer layered one. My usual hairdresser and colourist were on holiday. I waited a week dithering. I went back to have the back lightened and highlights and lowlights all over. I am such a happy bunny. Best decision in a while. I shall go grey when I am ready.

I also have hi and lo-lights, I detest the entire process, but there is no way on earth that I am giving into the grey.

The closest I got was during the first lockdown, the grey coming through was very noticeable and it did not suit me at all.

I did - I eventually decided to give up the battle and embrace the grey, but to be very honest, it didn't really suit my colouring. Even my hairdresser said it was very draining, so with my daughter's wedding in June, I went back to the colour again.

I have my hair coloured. Just highlights and lowlights and any white hair left alone. Yesterday I sat as usual through an hour + of the junior painstakingly painting strands and tying them up in foils. It seemed to take forever. She wasn't a great conversationalist and had plainly had a very spicy lunch. I hated it all. Afterwards the stylist gave my hair her excellent cut and blow dry.
My quandary is- should I just stop the colouring altogether? I hardly notice the difference by DH says the colours are more noticeable at the back. I could just have cut and blow dries as required and not bother with the palaver of it all.
What do people think. I'm not very vain and my hair is immersed three times a week at Aquafit.
