Any ebayers on here can give me some advice

How do you pay for the postage? I always buy a postage label through eBay and it's taken directly from my account. EBay also takes out fees, so I know exactly how much I've made from the transaction.

I know I will have a smaller audience but I don’t have the faff with posting, the article not being exactly what they wanted because as it’s local people come to my home to pick it up.
I’ve been told that some people are advertising on MarketPlace, receive interest from buyer but buyer doesn’t want to pay postage so seller advertises the article on Vinted where you don’t pay postage.

I haven't got time for all that, that’s why I keep it simple and local.

E bay, notorious for scammers,brother, friends all been caught out. Steer clear I would say.

As growstuff says, if you’re buying your postage through eBay then eBay is correct to take the cost from your bank account because that’s where the buyer’s payment ( including what they have paid you for postage) has been transferred to.

Have you somehow selected and paid for postage through eBay without realising it?

If so you could be paying twice if, for example, instead of printing the postage label you take the parcel to the post office and pay for the postage there, or if you go on to a courier’s website and pay online.

Going by your example they should transfer £12.94 into your account unless you have put the auction as free postage which you pay out of your pocket.
As growstuff has already said, have you accidently bought a postage label from Ebay and not printed it out.
That's all I can think of.
By the way there's no fee for selling clothing now. You get the full amount.

This is ridiculously alarmist. DH, DD and I have been using ebay since about 2000, with little or no problem.

There are certain things I would not buy on ebay: electronics, cars and high value items, but we have all bought and sold extensively. This week I bought a packet of staplers and a new mouse for my computer, no problems at all, and I do not anticipate any.

Yes you’re all right I think I was getting my knickers in a twist and I ve gone over it all again and I can see how and why it’s been done now. Thanks for your help I ve recently change how I send the packages as our local PO has closed and think I was not as familiar as I believed 😳

MOnica I agree with you. I've used eBay since 2000 and the only problem I've had has been a CD that didn't turn up. It was only 99p so I couldn't be bothered to pursue it. I do avoid anything electrical because they were the only things that DH ever had problems with. I mainly buy books and clothes, and you can't go far wrong with those.

Fees are deducted from the amount you receive, could it be coincidence that the fees were the same as the postage costs?

It's a long time since I sold anything on ebay and I recall the buyer paying postage .
I certainly paid postage on things that I've bought .
I hate selling clothes on ebay and have vowed never to do it again !

That's great news there's no fee for selling clothes now - I didn't realise. I have a ton of childrens clothes I keep meaning to sell.
