A belated Good Morning, I’m still here just at a slower pace!
Happy Wednesday 🌻
Susan56 So sorry to hear of your sad and difficult time. I hope you are looking after yourselves, too, as you do so much for your family across the generations. 💐
Good morning all. Some lovely photos on here this morning from holiday destinations - enjoy your time in the sun everyone.
And talking of sun, we have it here on the Angus coast if anyone's looking for it. Dire weather forecast notwithstanding. We've been promised wall-to-wall rain this week but so far we've only had one very heavy shower of stair rods and now the weather app is showing only sunshine and cloud for the next few days.
That bodes well for your trip to Dundee today Marydoll. I hope you enjoy your visit to the V&A - it's architecture caught my imagination from the start. I drive past there quite a lot and the sight of it, with the tiny HMS Discovery nestled in beside it, is always inspiring. It will be glorious in today's sunshine.
I'm so sorry your Mum is so poorly Susan
. A worrying time for you.
Now for an admission. I have given in and switched the heating on! Only for one hour's blast, but the temperature on the thermostat at the foot of the stairs read only 12° this morning, which really isn't a healthy temp. That, combined with warmth of sun shining from a cloudless blue sky should go some way to raising the core heat. Yesterday evening, in spite of me dressed like Nanook of the North, it took me ages to warm up for my evening in front of the TV. Doesn't bode well for this winter's heating bills!
I have nothing planned for today so I shall just footer and tootle about. I must make a pot of leek and potato soup, which I liquidise and then serve up as a quick warming snack whenever I feel like it. Oh and some tai chi paperwork needs doing too. When chatting to one man about a move and he explained to me why he was doing it the way he was, I realised that a lot must have changed for many of my 'old timers' over the 14 years I've been teaching. So, an update of membership forms seems in order now. A self-inflicted injury for me!
So off I go, filled with energy from the unexpected sunshine 🌞. Have the best day you can everyone.
Good Morning everyone, have a great day, despite the drizzle.
Good Morning from a foggy Co Armagh
My big winter coat is in the washing machine , giving it an extra spin
I turned it inside out before washing , but now it’s right side out ??? How does that happen ?
Wishing a good day to us all
Good morning everyone from a dull and overcast Northampton, more heavy rain expected late afternoon. Northampton has been hit hard by floods and I have been listening to local radio and hearing stories of the poor folks in flooded houses and even people having to be rescued from their narrow boats.
Yesterday was thankfully dry all day, so got out for a well-being walk after lunch. My friend offered me a lift home, but she had to go into town first to return a pair of shoes, so I had an interesting diversion to town and a quick visit to the shopping centre. She has lived here for over 25 years and still doesn't know her way around the shopping centre and had to ask me where a particular shop was!
My aim is to clean the en-suite today, and take the steam cleaner upstairs to do the bathroom floors. An early dinner of spaghetti Bolognese before DSon-in-law picks me up at about 6pm to take me over to their place for our bi-monthly ladies' wine club, which I am looking forward to. Shall stay at theirs overnight and come home tomorrow.
Must make a move and get going! Have a pleasant day everyone.
Thoughts with you Susan💐
Just reading about so much activity leaves me breathless, but thank you for sharing lovely holiday pictures which brighten a rather grey morning. Thinking specially of Susan and all dealing with illness and anxiety in any way.
First of many bags to take to a charity shop following a fairly (for me) ruthless sort out and singing this afternoon, so not a lot in view but at least there is something planned.
Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga where the forecast is for 31°C and 33°C tomorrow. Hotter than Ibiza!
Our flight was smooth and on time. I’ve never seen so many passengers at the boarding gate directed by Ryanair staff to attempt to fit their cabin bags or huge backpacks into the metal sizer. Must have been 20 people, some in groups travelling together, who got charged a £75 ‘on the spot’ penalty. Ouch!
Our friends from Bolton (they came to our GW anniversary party recently) are already here and we shall overlap for ten days or so which is nice. We don’t arrange to meet (apart from Tuesday LWW when I’ll walk up with Mrs.) but bumping into each other as and when is splendid.
Oh, it’s so GOOD to be back here! 20 years and I love it as much as ever. We hear these little apartments are being snapped up within days for more than twice what we paid. I’m not sure that Himself isn’t slightly tempted to cash in …. 🤔 I’m just glad we didn’t spend that money on a caravan (Himself’s idea at the time) as that would be long gone by now. For once in my life I made a sensible fiscal decision!
Good morning from N Bucks where we still have road closures all over the place leading to heavy traffic on the back roads as drivers try to find alternatives. Makes you (me) just want to stay in!
Opera Plus group this morning (on Zoom), I really enjoy this, 2 hours of an entertaining speaker who knows the world of opera inside out, amusing anecdotes, sound and video clips and all in the comfort of home with a cup of coffee at my elbow.
Book group this afternoon which will be a pleasant meet up with friends then Film Studies later where we’re discussing BlackkKlansman . It’s been on BBCiPlayer and was really good- satirical and funny in places, but not always an easy watch though.
So that’s my day of “kulcher”
But it’s not all over yet…tomorrow I’m really looking forward to going to La Fille Mal Gardée in Birmingham (Birmingham Royal Ballet)
Wishing you all a pleasant, dry (?) day and safe travels if you’re out and about.
Good morning all and it’s dark and drizzly here in Essex.
Yesterday I had our 92yr old lady as my Bridge partner. Goodness, she amazes me every time. Her memory and ability is second to none. She had played Bridge in the afternoon , left to go to a church meeting that she was chairing and then drive herself back to Bridge in the evening. She announced she is having a Macmillans coffee morning on Friday at her house and she has already baked ‘hundreds’ of cakes which are waiting in the freezer. I wonder what I’ll be like in 20 years time 😬.
Dh is off fishing - it will be a wet one!
I’ll walk to church and then up to town to meet my friend for coffee. She never sits still for long, so we’ll be up and running around the market and ending up in M and S for a few nice things to buy for tea.
Have a lovely time in Dundee Marydoll. Hope the cough subsides a bit (a lot). 🤞.
Enjoy your art break RosesandLilac . The hotel sounds very luxurious .
Hope your headache eases GG. 🙏.
Lovely pics Sar. Enjoy.
Take care all 🌻🍁
Morning Mick and all from a dry for now S Hants.
I’m sorry to hear about your Mum Susan it’ll be draining so far away 🌹
Lovely holiday pictures NannyJan and Sar thank you.
I’ve woken up with a cough, Imogen was full of it on Sunday, so I expect that’s the source.
Enjoy the luxury Roses good luck viewing Grammaretto.
🦩🦩
Good morning from a bright, but cool Durham with rain expected later. The sky is azure.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at a local garden centre this morning. Plants there are very cheap, so I might get some trays of pansies and I’ll need compost.
Undecided what to do later - I could do with a toiletries stock up.
Tough times ahead Susan 💐
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It's cool! 4°C at 7am. The downstairs heating has kicked in in the last few days and the house is slowly cooling down, I'm going to sort out some warmer clothing this weekend. I'm giving in, I think that brief Indian summer was it.
Yesterday I went out with my big bag of naturalising crocus bulbs to plant in the lawn. It was harder work than I anticipated and I got as far as about 20 then gave in! Don't suggest bulb planters, they're as much hard work and I'm not paying £££ for a soil borer for a one off job. I'm having a re-think about the rest, there are various possibilities.
I had a phone call from the garage, the annual service and MOT is due next month. You can't get appointments at short notice, it's booked for late October, plenty of time to save up for the big bill then...
Today, I will do the ironing and clean the downstairs loo then that's it in the boring jobs department. After that I should really take advantage of the good weather to garden or go for a walk, rain is due this evening.
I'm sorry to hear about your Mum Susan, I hope all goes as well as possible in the circumstances.
Good morning from a sunny NE.
It stayed dry yesterday and the window cleaner came in the afternoon. Last night he sent me a quote for cleaning the gutters with a vacuum and cleaning fascia boards, I will be having them done when he returns in four weeks.
Did nothing other than reading and listening to music, wasn't even bothered about meals. I made a prawn salad for lunch and ate half of it, had the other half for dinner with a small portion of oven chips.
No visitors this week so no shopping. I have a full freezer and store cupboards so I will be fine.
Have a good day.
Susan 💐
Morning all from a wet and windy West Oxfordshire. I seem to have overslept.
My new online V&A course on Art History was excellent. I look forward to in person courses again, probably next year.
I visited an old friend yesterday who I have known for over 40 years since we were on the village babysitting circle. She is recovering from cancer treatment and not really well at all.
OH and I are going out for lunch today.
I’m thinking of those of you with seemingly insurmountable difficulties. Life can be so hard.🌹
Good morning from a grey W Kent. Final packing today for holiday. The gardener is coming this morning and I need to pop round to the local shops.
Susan so sorry to read about the situation with your mum. Best wishes
Susan
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's cold, bright and fairly dry outside.
Ah the Greek Islands, how lovely that
must be Sar and NannyJan
After yarn group today and community lunch, I am house viewing. I promised my DC I would look at downsizing and a bungalow has come up, locally.
Meanwhile there are 5 of us living here and it's so big, we don't hear eachother and have to communicate by phone.
It's not as glamorous as your setting Roses
I continue to clear the attic and took another car load to the tip yesterday.
We also bought paint and I took my young helper to Rosslyn Chapel, Castle and to the Great Polish Map of Scotland. We walked along the Tweed at Peebles and she bought some proper Scottish gifts there.
And then she bought a cream tea for both of us. I'll miss her when she returns to Germany on Monday.
I sympathise re teeth Baubles 😫
I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning everyone from a grey but dry mid Essex. Rain is forecast for most of the day, but I have to go to the pharmacy to collect my meds.
Went shopping yesterday morning and as usual spent more than I’d planned in M&S food hall. They have a few items of Christmas food in store!
Had a phone call from the hospital and have a date for my second hip replacement!
I had a phone call from my 99 year old godmother, which was frustrating. She’s very deaf and despite wearing hearing aids, she still can’t hear very well on the phone. She was convinced I’m having a back operation this week, but I’m not, and it was difficult to persuade her that I’m not!
I saw my friend with dementia in the afternoon, she seemed to be barely breathing, no smiles this week.
Lovely to see beautiful photos from those on holiday in sunny places.
susan, sad to hear about your mum, a difficult situation for you.
Sympathies and thoughts to all those experiencing illness and worries.
Good morning from a dry Cambridgeshire at the moment. Today I am off to Peterborough for my hair cut and colour, it is usually a three hour stint for me with lots of chatter. I will then do a little shopping in M & S (food & warmer clothes). Home then to have a chat with my bestie on the phone to catch up on our antics.
Sending all best wishes to those struggling and hoping it will be a good day 💐
Good morning all from a dry but cold day here on the east coast of Fife.the sun is starting to rise according to my ring doorbell.
I’m still recovering from what appears to be a bad cold or the flu or even Covid . Today I’ll be watching Netflix, the Sky engineer was in yesterday and fixed my network it’s working very well now
Bellasnana so sorry to hear the boys are still unwell especially the little one I hope they both get well soon.
Take care my friends lots of bugs going around ❤️
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and chilly. A clear sky too. Susan I'm sorry to hear that your mum is so far away in hospital. 💐 Mizuna you made me laugh! Marydoll enjoy your trip to Dundee.
Yesterday the boys were very difficult for various reasons. I was glad to hand them back at night. I managed to make lemon drizzle cake for dd. She had made masses of really lovely tray bakes and it's all going to her office today. At night I was exhausted and discovered my dishwasher was kaput. First world problem, I know, but I was vexed.
Today is my do nothing day. Except for all the dishes I'll have to wash by hand! I have a bit of gardening to do and a little housework. I also have admin to sort out. I might sort out my hall cupboard or leave that for a wet day. Homemade pizza tonight. Have a good day all
Morning Mick, morning All. A heavy sky out there and rain due in an hour.
Short trip into town yesterday to take yet more ‘stuff’ to a welcoming charity shop, a stroll around and a coffee before back home. Our goddaughter phoned in the afternoon to update us on her Mum who remains in hospital. We’re sad and worried for them both.
Dust removal on the agenda today. Where does it come from?
Thinking of all with worries and struggles. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey but dry, we had a lots of rain yesterday
Sorry to hear about your mum Susan56 so difficult for you all
Nothing much planned this morning but I’m going to M&S in town later this afternoon to collect an order.
Safe travels to all those on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
