Thank you for all your good wishes my daughter is hoping for a full recovery but unlike me she has age on her side being in her thirties.

You are fortunate you did not experience much pain post-op because mine was so painful and took ages to heal. Since surgery in 2009, I have had to use a walking stick.

Apparently my bones resembled a jigsaw puzzle to fix so my pins and plates are in for life. I was warned I may be susceptible to osteoarthritis but I have been fortunate.

Hi Allira, thanks for responding. Yes still got crutches, I had to stand up and weight bear for my last X-ray to ensure all was healing as expected and the consultant was pleased with the progress. Maybe I am expecting the physio too soon and need to be more patient, good to hear though that you didn’t have it straight away as I was starting to worry ☺️

Ps presumably you've had another X Ray to make sure all is healing well.

Have you still got crutches as well as the boot?
I hope so, for a bit of security and to start off slowly with weight bearing although that does help healing.

I did fracture my ankle a few years ago but just one bone, and think I went into a boot at about six weeks.
Physiotherapy didn't begin at seven weeks, probably about three or four weeks on from that.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the advise as I’ve not had any physio appointments yet. I’ve booked a private one for next week whilst waiting for the nhs. Very brave to start a new job whilst going through this, good luck to her x

Not me personally but my daughter suffered this injury in early July she is now 10 weeks post surgery
She is now following her physio advice to begin to strengthen the ankle. She has been advised this may well be painful but healing occurs when weight is put through the damaged bones.
She has found all this very debilitating and hard going but will get there eventually She started a new job during this and I will be so grateful when she can drive again.
