Good Morning Everyone,
Its a wet start here in brackley this morning.
I am hoping to get the bus to Bicester this morning, have some lunch and then watch some of the cycling from Zurich , I have also got a coach trip to see Phantom again in London ,coach travel with me just lately has not been the best of things as my walking pace as got slower ,although health wise things seem to be improving despite weight loss.
Take Care,
Mick

Ooh Maw, I am very very jealous .....

Good morning from East Lothian where the earlier blue sky has given way to clouds. We drove up through the rain yesterday (and slept in it in our wee campervan!). It was good to see DD2, SiL and DGSs (briefly before they went to Sea Cadets).

Beautiful photo of the sunset, Taichinan.

Quiet day today to recover from our journey. Thinking of Susan, Kalu and all with troubles.

RosiesMaw I am distinctly jealous! Carlos Acosta is one of my favourite dancers. Lucky lucky you

I didn’t want to embarrass him or myself but 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I was “done” for doing 40 coming into our village after they had moved the speed limit sign to a couple of hundred yards further out of the village - a long way from any houses.
No excuse but hardly in the same league as some of the motorheads who scream past me up our nearby dual carriageway and disappear over the horizon!

kittylester Fri 27-Sept-24 10:04:28

Maybe, I should point out that DH was caught speeding in one of those variable speed limit bits on the motorway whilst driving home from his brother's funeral.

He would never, ever, speed whilst volunteering.gringrin

Good morning from Skiathos Airport, where it is another sunny hot day.

After a fantastic week it is time to go home to soggy UK. We had a Tapas meal last night which was delicious

Flight is 1.40pm, hopefully land in Birmingham around 4pm due to the 2 hours time difference.

Wishing you all a great day

Beautiful sky Taichinan

Morning from a damp S Hants, I slept for nine hours, less coughing and catching up from Wednesday night. We had hefty showers again yesterday, today should be drier, but cooler.
I coordinate volunteer drivers on Mondays kitty they all do a brilliant job.
Looks like my brunch FGT sadly I won’t be sitting out though!
Tesco delivery later and pub tonight.

Oh dear, I've just lost my post. Nobody's fault but my own - I previewed then forgot to press send. Grrr!
So I'll just wish you all a happy weekend and safe journeys from a sunny Angus coast, and attach a photo of last night's sunset.

BlueSapphire Fri 27-Sept-24 08:42:30

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, it is, as they have just said on local radio, chucking it down. Yesterday turned out to be lovely and sunny, as is forecast for this afternoon and for tomorrow.

Did not do a lot yesterday once I'd got back from DD's, apart from a tidy up and dealing with the Sainsbury's delivery. I had two lots of meat, beef and chicken, to portion out and pack for the freezer. I had also ordered some plums, which I stewed in the microwave with a bit of sugar - shall have some with my porridge this morning.

Dance classes this morning, then home to make a big chicken curry for the slow cooker. And then sit and read for the afternoon.

Glammagran, nice to read news of my old childhood town, even in the floods! I have been following the pictures of it on Facebook, with the centre under water. I remember the story and have indeed seen pictures of the vicar in a boat going along Mill Street to the church!

Hoping for a drier day.for all.

RosiesMaw2 Fri 27-Sept-24 08:39:46

Good morning from N Bucks where unsurprisingly it is raining again.
I had a wonderful afternoon at the ballet, just beautiful especially the Clog Dance- that tune has been in my head ever since!
The icing on the cake was when Carlos Acosta slipped into the row immediately behind me (I was near the end) and watched the whole ballet from there just slipping out as each interval started. 🌟
It was chucking it down when I came out but I got an Uber out to D’s house and saw all the children as their sporting activities had been cancelled as the training grounds were flooded. Silver lining!
Another Uber back to New Street and then a very slooooow journey home as all the fast Avanti West Coast trains had been cancelled.
I shouldn’t laugh kittylester - but I did! At least he (presumably) gets his passengers to their appointments in good time!
DH was given the opportunity to be interviewed on this morning's BBC Breakfast about his role as a volunteer driver. Sadly, and somewhat ironically, he is on a Speed Awareness Course this morning so was unable to do it

With kindly thoughts to all in pain or with worries- keep well, keep dry and if you are out in this, keep safe!

Good morning all from a very wet, and quite windy, North Leicestershire.

I have to go to Waitrose and the butcher's this morning.

DH was given the opportunity to be interviewed on this morning's BBC Breakfast about his role as a volunteer driver. Sadly, and somewhat ironically, he is on a Speed Awareness Course this morning so was unable to do it.

Im sure he was just getting his people to their appointments on time 😳😀

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but chilly Carlisle. Yesterday's rain dried up by lunchtime but I stayed in. I felt really chilled all day and finally gave in and turned the heating up, upstairs and down. I wondered if I was sickening for something but have concluded that, yes, I was actually cold! I feel it more and more, I blame my aging body...

Today there is nothing I have to do so I will probably tick off one or two occasional jobs then see what pleasanter pastimes take my fancy. I might get out in the garden or go for a walk, I'm trying to up my daily steps.

Best wishes to all the poorlies and those looking after them.
And have the best possible day everyone.

FGT2, our Michaelmas here, sadly not celebrated

Georgesgran Fri 27-Sept-24 08:32:34

Good morning from a wet and windy Durham. It was so bad yesterday, I didn’t go over the doorstep, not even to the bin.
I’ve a nail appointment with DD2 this afternoon and we’ll do something with DGS2 afterwards - might have to be indoors though.
You have my sympathy stilllearning although I had no trouble leaving Plusnet for Sky (wanted a package) I almost wish I hadn’t bothered.
Lots of us out on the roads today - safe journey.
Best wishes to all. X

cornergran Fri 27-Sept-24 08:30:36

Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset. Our nearest motorway has been closed to the North as both carriageways flooded.

Off to meet friends today, fortunately travelling South. A chatty day full of laughter ahead. Yesterday was a home faffing day until Mr C wanted to go out for a coffee in the afternoon. Stuck in a roadworks queue for twenty minutes on the way back he said it was fortunate we’d had coffee. Not so sure my bladder agreed.

That did make me smile kitty, did mr Leicester explain why he couldn’t be interviewed? Pleased your husband arrived safely ash, safe travels today. Hope you feel better soon grandmattie, that’s miserable. Enjoy your trip mick, hope not too much walking.

Thoughts go to all finding life hard going. Hope Friday is gentle with us all.

harrigran Fri 27-Sept-24 08:11:01

Good morning from the NE where we have had a wiindy night, had to wear earplugs.
I have an appointment at the hospital for an echocardiogram this afternoon, my sister and BIL are going to take me.
Finished watching Ludwig yesterday, really enjoyed the series.
Went online and booked covid and flu vaccinations, towards the end of October, other available appointments were the day after RSV one, advised not to have them close together.
Have a good day.

hollysteers Fri 27-Sept-24 08:10:51

Good morning Mick and all from a 10° northwest coast.
Off to art group this morning after missing last week as my back had gone into spasm.
DD left for the south yesterday, but will be back for my hernia op a week on Tuesday. She’s a real blessing to me.

Hope you feel better GM, you enjoy Phantom Mick and thoughts to all🌺

Dunworking Fri 27-Sept-24 08:07:56

Good morning from a very bright Glasgow….long may it continue!
After another very sociable day Ihave to say that even I am fed up listening to my own voice! 😂
Off into John Lewis today to use our 2 free cuppas….not very free mind you as hubby and I will probably have scones but still seems like a good deal!😜
Have a good weekend to all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 27-Sept-24 07:51:58

While I’m on this iPad, Himself has put his breakfast together and he’s enjoying this at the table on our little balcony. Beneath all the fruit, two Weetabix are submerged!
😊

Stilllearning Fri 27-Sept-24 07:50:48

Good morning from dry South Lanarkshire. I’m off to the seaside this morning, staying for the weekend with a friend who lives in Seamill on the Ayrshire coast.
It generally rains when I am there and it looks as if this time will be no different! Never mind, lots of chat and good food and possibly a well wrapped up walk on the beach.

I had my Covid and flue jabs yesterday afternoon and for the first time had a bit of a reaction, felt really nauseous in fact and though I might have to call off today’s trip but thankfully this morning I just have sore arms.

I’m sorry you’re finding your walking pace affected Mick. It can be a problem if the coaches have to park a fair distance from the theatre. I hope you manage okay and enjoy ‘Phantom’

Georgesgran, my switching saga continues and I have to say that BT whom I am leaving, are proving to be just as bad as Sky. I spent an hour and a half on the phone last night with both of them (including being cut off several times of course).
BT eventually admitted culpability and told me to ignore all the emails they have sent.
On reflection maybe it wasn’t the jabs that caused the nausea!

Thoughts just now to Susan and anyone else struggling just now, have as good a weekend as possible everyone.

GrannySomerset Fri 27-Sept-24 07:50:05

Grey start to the day with rain forecast until late afternoon so not promising. Hoping we don’t get too much because roads round here flood very readily and DS has proposed himself for tomorrow and I would so like to see him, but equally don’t want him running risks. Not ideal. I shall go to the oldies’ coffee morning and then think about what to cook for tomorrow. Stay dry!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 27-Sept-24 07:48:14

Morning all from a wet and windy West Oxfordshire,

I will be spending some of today preparing for elder son, his partner and our granddaughter’s arrival sometime this evening. They are only staying until Saturday afternoon but their rooms have to be sorted out and various meals prepared. They have asked for roast chicken and all the trimmings tomorrow, including Yorkshire puddings, and meatballs for this evening!

Have a good day especially, those of you with difficulties. I do hope the FGT2s are having a wonderful time.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 27-Sept-24 07:47:23

Good morning everyone from a sunny Málaga where currently it’s 23°C and set to rise to 29°C this afternoon. It’s grand! Better this month than last when not only were temperatures much higher 🥵 but the humidity was super high too which is draining in itself.

Sunday is a public holiday here. Bars, restaurants and the beach with be very busy with locals! It’s Dia de San Miguel. Our Spanish neighbours on this landing, Xavier and Pilar, arrived last night for a long weekend here. They used to bring their nine year old son but he’s a big strapping lad now in his early 20’s and no longer wants to join them his dad laughed when telling us!

So, another day here in our happy place. Sun, palm trees, parakeets and this morning (early, it was still dark - so very quiet and sound carried) I could hear the peacocks over in Paloma Park. Magical.
