Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Me too, a group hug is just what I need, to give and receive.
TOYA, especially Redcar and Mr Soop. 🥰

Grandmabatty Fri 08-Nov-24 13:40:58

I'm happy to have a group hug for all those who need it.

kittylester Fri 08-Nov-24 13:39:22

Can I join a group hug please. Both giving and receiving.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 08-Nov-24 13:37:39

Sending hugs to redcar (((hugs)))

brook2704 Fri 08-Nov-24 13:04:27

I’ll join you in the group hug soop thank you
Hope Mr Soop is doing ok and home soon x

soop Fri 08-Nov-24 12:44:47

I am not too far away. In fact I'm in the quiet corner. I wish to send all good wishes to those of our Kitcheners who are dealing with travels to and from hospitals and awaiting results that will hopefully help to lessen their anxieties. You all matter. You deserve a positive outcome. I shall most certainly feel more like my old, "bouncy" self when Mr Soop is home after his surgery. In the meantime, a group hug will spread the love. smile

brook2704 Fri 08-Nov-24 12:36:46

Hoping redcar has had her surgery now and all is well, sending gentle hugs for later
It’s an absolute gorgeous day here, blue sky with warm sunshine. I’ve reopened the conservatory just for today as I’ll be happy sitting in there for lunch. I’d have liked to go for a walk this afternoon but I’ve a hairdressers appointment so I’ll be stuck inside, never mind though my hair will appreciate it!
That car sounds good fun llfl any chance of a picture please ?
Try not to worry too much over the weekend nannytopsy, easier said than done though I know
I’m always trying to sell things cornergran, mainly it’s toys and clothes that DD2 hands over as ‘she’s not got time’ ..^ it’s good when things go quickly and don’t end up in a box in the garage like mine do 🙄

cornergran Fri 08-Nov-24 06:43:57

Good luck redcar. 🤞 you’re early on the list.

If any if that lasagna is spare there’s a home here for it jax. We both love it.

Easy to say I know but do try not to worry nannyt, sounds as if pleasant distraction is needed over the weekend.

All OK here other than when retrieving yet more not needed ‘stuff*’ from the loft yesterday I discovered a broken board. Mr C assures me he can replace it. What? He’s not been in our loft for about 10 years. It’s my domain. At 81 his balance leaves a lot to be desired and he doesn’t stand up easily once down. I’m trying to persuade him it’s time to move to a supervisory position and ask a son for help. Yes, we’ll have to wait but does that matter? A resounding no from me.

Really pleased yesterday afternoon as an item I had advertised for sale was collected. It’s spurred me on to consider my handbag collection. At least 40, all good brands, how many do I actually use? A lot less than that! Worth a sort through for sure.

It should be an easy day ahead here. A wander to Waitrose this morning with a coffee stop, half a dozen things to iron and that’s about it, unless the unexpected turns up of course.

Hope your granddaughter is having a wonderful time usedtobeblonde, look after yourself. You sound more relaxed granmarie, good to hear.

Time to think about beginning the day. Mr C is stirring, a cuppa will soon be on its way. Look after yourselves everyone.

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Nov-24 23:33:10

That sounds like the sort of colour people will notice LLFL 🤣
Good luck tomorrow Redcar and my thoughts are with all awaiting test results. DH had a phonecall to give him an appointment with our GP to discuss the results of a recent routine blood test. It’s on Monday so he will be worried all weekend. There’s always something! NNGB

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 07-Nov-24 23:22:22

A quick hello kitchen people.

I hope all is well with the Soops.

I bought a car today! It will be ready in a few weeks. The colour is Adventurous Green.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Grannmarie Thu 07-Nov-24 22:12:25

Thank you, Hulahoop and Jaxjacky.
Hulahoop, I hope your DH gets on OK with his tests.
Jaxjacky, that lasagne sounds amazing, one of my favourites!
Redcar, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, sending love and prayers for your successful surgery and a speedy recovery. 💕🙏
FGTs, enjoy the rest of your time in your happy place, relaxation is good for the spirit. DH and I have happy memories of our cruising days, glad we did it when we were more able.

TOYA, NNGB.

Redcar Thu 07-Nov-24 21:59:44

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement! I’m hoping to be going to theatre early in the day, last time the hospital changed my admission time to 10.30 and I was last. It was a long boring day! usedtobeblonde you were lucky to be allowed home so soon. jax I’ll definitely be cajoled by my DD, and hopefully cosseted too.
I hope that all waiting for tests and scans don’t have to wait too long.
I hope to be posting again in a few days, when I’ve recovered from the effects of the morphine.
Night night.

brook2704 Thu 07-Nov-24 20:56:44

Hoping all goes well tomorrow redcar we’ll be thinking of you 💐
That’s a compliment indeed Jax well done with making all that lasagne. You can send some up here if you like 😀
Sounds like a good evening fgt, enjoy the togetherness ❤️
DGD is tucked up asleep in bed now, I’ll be following soon too

Usedtobeblonde Thu 07-Nov-24 20:52:56

Redcar I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and hope you get it done early.
It was 6:30 pm when I was taken to theatre for my THR.
The day was the longest I could recall.
However it was a huge success and I was home in less than 48 hours.
The worst thing ,as most people will tell you, is having to sleep on your back for ages.
Onward and upward and we hope to hear from you soon.

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Nov-24 20:43:00

Hi all. I’d take that as a decent result Grannmarie, let’s hope it stays at that.
Waiting again SueD so hard, you go careful driving, those are very long journeys, you'll be pleased when he’s home.
And your day tomorrow Redcar I’m hoping you’re early on the list, then up and at ‘em ready to be cosseted and cajoled by your daughter.
I’m feeling virtuous as I at last, after procrastinating for a couple of days, made five lasagna, now frozen, I agreed in a weak moment. ‘Mum, your lasagna is the best’ from son and his finance, who I’ll just call S from now on, it’s easier!
Aster and a climber Solanum delivered earlier, they need to go in tomorrow and I hate to mention it but some rain would be welcome. ☔️

Redcar Thu 07-Nov-24 20:11:23

neine thank you for your good wishes and prayers. It must have been a real struggle for you to manage on your own after a hip replacement. I’m on the top floor at my DDs, but will be supervised on the stairs and doing the exercises etc.
sued what an awful journey to see your DH. Here in the pampered south east we complain at having to drive 7 miles to hospital.
The puddings sound delicious!
I hope everyone has the best evening possible. Thinking of those in the quiet corner.

hulahoop Thu 07-Nov-24 19:10:48

Glad your tests are completed for the moment Granmarie.,my oh is going for a scan and 24hr recording in next couple of weeks.
Fingers crossed for your Oh SueD
Sorry you have more health worries Used to be blond.
I keep losing posts so I will say hope everyone has the best evening they can.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 07-Nov-24 18:48:46

‘Evening All’

We are sat on our balcony. It’s so relaxing.
The photo I’ve just posted is of a brightly lit cruise ship heading towards the right of the pic … on its way to Gibraltar. As Himself just said “blimey it’s going at a fair clip!’.

We’ve eaten - pasta with arrabiatta sauce and frankfurters. Honestly dear Readers I don’t know how I do it on the money. Himself washed up (no dishwasher here in this little place) and then poured me a mini cava. 😁

Grannmarie Thu 07-Nov-24 17:17:27

Nannytopsy, DS1 loved butterscotch pudding when he was wee!

Grannmarie Thu 07-Nov-24 17:16:20

Hello 👋 SueD, thanks for your update. I'm glad to hear that your DH has had his biopsy, sorry to hear he's so far away and you've got all the driving. Hoping and praying for the best possible outcome for him. Thinking of you both. 💕

Thanks, brook, I should hear in 7-10 days whether or not I need a scan, I feel quite relieved today. Enjoy your DGD'S sleepover, dinner sounds delicious!

Sorry about your friend, Cornergran, I hope your call brings her some comfort.

Good ideas, GG13, I'm waiting for family to send Wish Lists, it gets harder every year!

TOYA

brook2704 Thu 07-Nov-24 17:01:20

Good to hear your DH has had his biopsy SueD I hope he’s doing ok now, safe travels to and fro, break the journey if you can and look after yourself too
A happy birthday to your granddaughter uttb I hope she has a wonderful weekend. So sorry to hear about your health worries, sending ❤️
Pleased to hear all seemed to go well today grannmarie, it’s good that you got a thorough check up and I hope everything turns out fine
Thank you for the link to the website GG13 and recommendations, I’ll have to get my list sorted this weekend and get buying. I’ll hopefully have a browse online later this evening
We picked up DGD from school earlier, she’s just watching tv now whilst I’m supposed to be getting on with dinner, it’s mostly done though as I used the slow cooker earlier to make a chicken casserole which I hope she eats.
Will catch up again later, take care all especially those in the quiet corner x

cornergran Thu 07-Nov-24 15:32:35

Safe travels sued. It must be exhausting. More crossed fingers here.

Thinking matters medical, chatting with the physio yesterday pre injection I commented I was avoiding anyone medical if I could as each time I see someone they present me with yet another ailment to add to my list. She laughed - and promptly did the same. Seriously though I’m having more than decent care as is Mr C so not complaining - really smile

Please stop talking about puddings. I’m trying to avoid them, suspect I’ll succumb this evening. I really fancy some custard and suspect a hot sponge pudding will be essential.

Off to phone our Welsh friend now. See how she is, a far from well person sadly.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Nov-24 14:32:50

SueDonim I will keep everything crossed for a positive outcome for your DH 🤞🏻

SueDonim Thu 07-Nov-24 14:23:02

A very quick visit to say that my Dh has today finally had the specialist biopsy needed for a diagnosis, after more than nine weeks waiting. It’s been a confusing and difficult time, having to negotiate the Kafkaesque NHS system here in Scotland but hopefully he’ll be able to come home in a day or two. It’s a 120 mile round trip so I’m about to set off once again on my travels.

TOYA. Xxx

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Nov-24 12:41:27

UTBB I hope you DGD has a wonderful time and I agree that a pudding is in order. It was that pub that I read about in a magazine years ago and which gave me a fund raising idea. I kept their recipe for sultana butterscotch pudding, which I am making on Saturday.
