‘Evening All’.

We’ve had such a hot afternoon here! I was in trousers and a tee but thankfully changed into a sleeveless dress and sandals at noon before we set out! We needed suncream and Himself put on his Panama hat and sunglasses as we strolled along the paseo. The Mediterranean was a sparkling turquoise. There are a lot of holidaymakers out with children on half term - English schools go back on Monday.

We walked into Benalmadena as far as the ‘windmill roundabout’. It’s between the marina and Castle Bil Bil. It’s an amusing metal construct with 100 children size windmills and looks pretty when the breeze catches them and they gaily twirl about in the sunshine. I took this photo.

Good news for you soop, that must have been a relief. I hope that mr soop doesn’t have to wait too long for a date for surgery. Happy Birthday to *mr soop*for tomorrow. Well done for finishing the Roman blind nannytopsy, I hope you don’t have to wait too long for it to be put up!
No family visits today, and possibly not tomorrow either, but I can keep busy on domestic tasks. I went for a walk this morning in the drizzle, then wrapped up the birthday presents for my littlest granddaughter. I have bought a few Christmas presents so wrapped them too. it seems very early to be doing it, but as I’m having my hip replaced next week I won’t be out shopping for several weeks. Hopefully I’ll be able to get everything online and delivered to the recipients.
I dusted everywhere, but couldn’t vacuum because the battery needed charging, I’ll do it tomorrow. Will also do a load of washing.

Afternoon everyone, gosh it gets dark early on these dull days.
Welcome back soop reassuring results for you and progress for Mrsoop, a long but worthwhile trip.
A goodly layer of manure over the garden today, should work its way down over the next few months. Other than that a leisurely read of the paper, beef stew in the slow cooker for dinner and another Christmas present ordered.
I don’t make a cake Nannytopsy it wouldn’t get eaten, but I am looking at easy pud recipes for the day. I’ve bought a few presents, planned where I’ll buy the tree from and have the ingredients to make stuffing for about five different families.

I did manage a couple of hours more sleep, so today I have finally finished the Roman blind. Now we need to put it up …
DH has made beef Bourginon, a beef curry and the filling for steak pies. DS and family are coming for lunch tomorrow ( the pie) and the rest is for the freezer. I am stocking up just in case I get a knee date. Also, prep for Christmas. This week I must make the cake.
Are you all well on with your preparations? Since FGT is in her happy place, I guess she isn’t!

I’m just back home after a bit of shopping this morning - I saw DD2 and the DGC briefly and got a hug from both DGC. I think this year of change and uncertainty for them all is now taking its toll, so I’m pleased to be able to help out a bit and to help them stay positive.
Thank you all for your kind words about DHs cellulitis, I didn’t realise how difficult it is to treat. Thank goodness we got prompt treatment when we did

Dearest Kitcheners, I shall need to catch up with all your happenings later in the day.

Mr Soop drove almost 300 miles to take us to our respective hospital appointments. Not bad considering he'll celebrate his 84th birthday tomorrow.

He had a long discussion with the surgeon who is to scrape the bone on his scalp and remove margins that may still contain cancer cells. He could be admitted as early as the 12th. Surgeon may phone early next week to confirm.

I had CT scan on Wednesday in Oban. On Thursday, at the breast clinic in Paisley, the oncologist had already received the result of the scan. Good news! The shadow is a benign cyst and there is a second on one of the kidneys. Totally relieved. One more appointment later this month - to get a third opinion on feasibility of treating the parastomal hernia (now 20" in circumference). The NHS has done us proud.

Feeling very weary but thankful to be safely home.

Tripe? Oo no! My mum and dad used to have tripe and onions - you could smell it as soon as you opened the front door! I always had something else.

Something has triggered our patio lights but I can’t see anything. A passing cat perhaps? I just hope is wasn’t a rat! There are lots of slugs about which is horrible. Some nights you just can’t walk on the patio. 😖

Elder son and his family are here for a flying visit. They arrived early afternoon, had a massive dinner and they are off tomorrow at 10 am as granddaughter has a skiing lesson!

Annoyingly I had a migraine this morning. I hadn’t had one for a couple of months and now I’ve had two in three days. At least sumatriptan still does the trick.

Have a good evening … thinking about tripe. My father in law used to eat it plain and uncooked with vinegar.

brook I also had to have two lots of antibiotics to get rid of the cellulitis, with disastrous effects on my digestive system.

It did rain, Brook but we managed a quick visit to feed the ducks before it began so that was fine. GS went home from our house clutching ‘treasure’ - a Matchbox type motorbike that must be at least 40 years old and has been missing a wheel for probably 39.5 of those years. GS is going to fix it with his tools, he says. ❤️

I've been off social media for a while so won't be able to catch up.
Today I went to the lawyer to pay the balance for mum's guardianship. I had other paperwork to hand in. Then home to tidy the kitchen before dd arrived with dgs2 who was ready for his soup. Three ladlefuls he had! After they left, I went back to town to meet a friend who is struggling. We had a good chat and a treacle scone then back home via the pharmacy to pick up my prescription and the library for new books. I sorted two shelves in my bookcase too, replied to mum's social worker and made dinner. Phew. A busy day but I achieved loads. Tonight I'm doing nothing. My thoughts are with you all, especially with Soop

I’m just home from my volunteering, it was already going dark when I came out at 4.30 - I really don’t like these long evenings.
This morning I was double jabbed, covid in one arm and flu in the other, both are aching now so I’ll take paracetamol and hope for the best 😀
DHs cellulitis is improving but has more antibiotics from the doctors as it’s not quite right yet

Can I join the dizzy/ditsy cIub usedtobeblonde? Decided to wear a watch that had been my Mum’s She died over 30 years ago and I still love the feeling of closeness I get from the watch. Adjusted the time, put it on. After half an hour or so I noticed it wasn’t the right time, it had surged ahead, assuming something was wrong I showed Mr C. With a perfectly straight face - years of practice - he pointed out I’d not pushed the winder back in and had of course accidentally changed the time myself - oops. In any case it’s kept perfect time all day, phew.

I don’t think I’d cope with that stew either fgt, although it’s probably delicious the description would ensure I didn’t try it.

Enjoyed my volunteer session this morning, came home and promptly fell asleep. We decided it wasn’t a good day for TaiChi, need more energy than I had after little sleep.

Been thinking about the soops and hoping all has gone to plan. All good wishes to everyone.

An early ‘Evening All’ from Málaga. We’ve enjoyed our first full day here. Lazy breakfast, out to the supermarket downstairs for some supplies, lunch at Juan’s. Himself had today’s ‘special’ - tripe (callos) and chickpeas stew. See pic. ◀️

We then sat in the sunshine 2 bars along, people watching and enjoying one another’s company and the warmth. When the sun disappeared at 5pm we came back up. Himself plans to watch the Brazil F1 qualifier at 7pm here. I shall read my book.

nannyG4 well done for driving yourself to and from your holiday location, the holiday must have been hard for you. I hope you enjoy this evening’s talk with Frances Tophill.
iutbb I often glance at the clock (any clock) and think the second hand is the minute hand so read the time completely wrong! I still need to change the clock in my car (it’s old so doesn’t do it on its own), the hours are right, but the minutes are way out.
Grey and cool here today. My lovely son in law came over and repaired my shed roof, which had been leaking every time it rained.
mr & Mrs soop I hope your various hospital appointments were accomplished without too much trauma and that you will soon be safely home.

I’ve just returned from Dorset with my son and family, it was a lovely break but I missed my DH so much but kept those feelings to myself….I really don’t want to become a misery to others. I was also pleased with myself as I drove myself there and back, following my son some of the time….
I’m out with my daughter this evening to a talk with Francis Tophill (Gardeners World)…I will stay with them for the evening and come home tomorrow.
Hope you are all managing with what life is throwing at you and can make the best of your circumstances…….. we have each other on this lovely thread….

At first I was concerned for you IUTBB but then read the rest of your post! Not actually dizziness as in vertigo … more being ‘ditsy’. That’s okay. 😁

I just thought I would tell you how very dizzy I am becoming.
My GD has the day off and I asked her if she would take me to my bank .
She said to give her an hour so I put respectable clothes on , glanced at the clock and decided on an early lunch.
Just checked the time, looked again in disbelief, I have not changed the cooker clock , so had lunch at 11:30.
I shall need afternoon tea I think to tide me over until my evening meal.
I hope the Soops are over their medical appointments and everyone else caring or being cared for, you know who you are, are feeling ok and I send my best wishes to you all.
