Welcome!
Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.
Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.
Enjoy!
I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later.
Thank you Jax too
Thank you nannytopsy and grandmabatty ❤️
They’ve all just left, we done the baking for the school bake sale tomorrow, banana bread and rocky road. They’re fundraising for the P7 residential trip next year so there’s lots of things going on. We’ve had teriyaki chicken and roasted veg for dinner, the DGC took one look and decided they’d rather have baked potato, beans and cheese 🤣
Congratulations to your next door neighbours grandmabatty so kind of you to buy them champagne 🥂 there’s nothing wrong with a lazy day , enjoy it as you do so much for others x
A deserved lazy day Grandmabatty makes me feel better as you usually fill me with guilt!!
What a despondent time for them brook, fingers crossed there will be action in the NY.
A brisk walk out today and some washing done, I’ve been half heartedly looking at dessert recipes to make for my daughters on Sunday, she’s doing mains for us all. You just need so many different ‘bits of stuff’ M&S food hall may ease my pain.
Here’s a 🥂 to you both FGT on your last evening.
I don't normally post in either this thread or Mick's Good Morning thread but read them every day as part of my daily routine. I feel I am getting to know you all online, and look forward to reading all your news and updates.
Best wishes to those with struggles, both physical and emotional, you are in my thoughts.
Oh brook, it's so demoralising for your dd and dgc. I hope she can reset her expectations and settle where she until next spring.
I have been incredibly lazy today! I did a quick spin to Tesco for a bottle of champagne and a card. My next door neighbours are getting married tomorrow. I don't know them that well, but they are a pleasant couple with two nice children. After that, I lay supine on the couch watching absolute rubbish. I've managed to stir myself and wash up the pots from yesterday -disgusting, I know- and make macaroni cheese which is in the oven. I'll have some with toast shortly. I'm off to trawl the tv for more rubbish. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Brook that’s hard on all of them. It’s a good job you are there to support your DD and DGC.
We have been released from childcare tomorrow afternoon, so I have a hair appointment instead. The only other free time she had was 8am one day next week. I only do 8pm these days!
I have started a Roman blind to replace the curtain in my sewing room/ spare bedroom. I keep finding other things to do, like reading my book. I must give myself a shake. There are all the WI risk assessments too. Such a pain. There are voices on the committee saying we should drop out of WI and become a women’s group. As president, I don’t want to be the person to close us down.
Hi kitchen pals, hoping everyone is doing ok and thinking of those just sitting in the quiet corner ❤️
I hope your DH gets a date soon SueD sometimes it’s the waiting that’s the worst. And hoping your shoulder improves soon too
I’m just back from DD2s, sadly unpacking things that we’d packed up over the summer ready for her planned house move that fell through. Given the time of year I don’t expect much will happen now until the spring. I really feel for the DGC especially as they’ve had such a lot to cope with this year, with their parents splitting up, new routines, a new house which they’d been looking forward to etc etc .. Anyway they’ll all be round here soon to do some baking for the bake sale at school and to have dinner all together later 😀
Sounds like a busy but good day yesterday redcar - I can picture you all walking in the rain! ☔️
Nice pictures Jax I know which side I’d prefer!
That reminds me of living in Nigeria, FGT. If the temp dipped below 30 deg the locals would appear in puffa jackets, babies wore snowsuits and woolly hats & gloves abounded. Us? Still red faced and sweating profusely!
There’s seems to have been an awful lot of rain down your way, Jax. It seems to have been raining perpetually at my son who lives down your way.
GMbatty I hope you can sort out the things for your mum. Mine still has most of her faculties but she really isn’t making the best choices, I don’t think. But what can you do unless/until there’s a crisis?
NannyG we took the GC to a church coffee morning the other day. GS was in his element because he gets on so well with older folk, plus there was juice and cake! His nursery takes some of the children to a nearby care home once a week and he loves going there and talking to the old folk and getting spoilt by them!
Hope you get your results soon, UTBB.
Be gone that dratted Covid, Cornergran!
Your dh will be happy to be home, Yia. If there’s nothing more to be done medically, then he’s probably better off at home, his own bed, less risk of infections and best of all, you as company!
That was a lovely photo of Soop and Baggs! M I’m sorry the surgeon couldn’t help you, Soop, but I’m impressed at how you don’t let these things get you down. ❤️
Quite a few of the trees are turning colour here, Brook and today I saw the first of the fallen leaves scudding around on pavements.
Another couple of busy days for us. New glasses and a haircut for me, I’ve bought bulbs for the garden - if only they’d plant themselves! Dh had a phone call about his condition but we’re not any further forward. We were originally told a biopsy would happen within four weeks but we’re now on week five with no date in sight.
I’m trying not to fret, luckily he isn’t the fretting kind.
We’ll be doing child care sometime this week, I’m waiting to be given my orders.
I also need to see a physiotherapist as something has happened to my shoulder and it’s getting increasingly painful. That means endlessly redialling the surgery at 8am and eventually finding myself number 47 in the queue. 🙄
TOYA. Xxx
Good evening everyone. I’m just home from a day at DD1s looking after her dog, and then getting the granddaughters from after school club. I walked round, met up with DD2 who’d been into the office but was picking up her two daughters from the same after school club. We walked back together & all got wet in one of the promised showers, complete with hailstones! We must have looked a sight, a 9 year old with an umbrella which blew inside out, two 6 year olds, one in an anorak, the other one refusing to wear a coat, mum pushing toddler in pushchair & me, on the rollator!
yia I’m so pleased that your DH is home, although it seems too soon. He’s more at risk of infection in hospital so will be safer with you.
jax I had a better night, thank you, but haven’t felt 100% all day, not sure if it’s something I ate, or still a reaction to the flu jab! I have physio for my achy knee tomorrow- oh joy! Then the Covid jab on Thursday.
soop I hope that something can be done for your hernia and that Mr soop doesn’t have to wait too much longer for his treatment.
Thinking of all gransnetters with illness or worries to deal with. Have a peaceful evening everyone. Night night.
‘Evening All’.
Our penultimate evening here. It’s still warm (9pm). I enjoyed LWW this afternoon, just the 3 of us this week. We’re home from eating over the road at the Argentinian. Nice sitting on the terrace, people watching. Most of us still in summer clothes, no cardigans necessary but a few locals are now in jeans, jackets and boots. 😊
Hurray Yia I’ve been thinking of you both, it must be nerve wracking being ‘nurse’.
I hope you had a better night Redcar
Dreadful wet weather here too corner we visited my brother and his wife who took us out to lunch, from the pub we were in, two very different views left and right. We caught a thunderstorm on the way home, everywhere was nose to tail traffic.
May all of you with fuzzy heads and aching bones, covid or otherwise, improve swiftly 🙂
Yia I hope your husband continues to mend, it must be worrying for you to have the responsibility of him at home.
soop I hope you and your DH have answers soon.
DD met me at swimming and has taken the boys home.
After a busy day I have gone for an easy dinner also Grandmabatty one of the batch cooked chicken curries from the feeezer.
My arm is still red, swollen and sore from the flu jab on Saturday, I also feel a bit off colour, probably be back to normal in time for the Covid booster next week 🤣, but hey ho onwards and upwards.
Thank you for updating us all Yia I hope your DH has settled back home and feeling a bit better, sending ❤️
mamaa don’t worry about not having much to say,I’m quite often the same and just ramble on … just saying hello is enough and very welcome x
Good evening Kitcheners. Soop I really hope they can do something for you. Yiayia I'm pleased that your DH is home. As you say, one step at a time. Brook enjoy the lentil soup later.
I'm just back from a meeting with the Mental Health officer regarding mum and the application for guardianship. She was thorough which is good. The boys had a difficult start this morning with both angry about different things. Dgs1 was angry because I told him to go to the toilet. Dgs2 was angry because he didn't want to wear clothes. However they both settled down and dgs2 and I had a really pleasant day. I dropped them off early to go to the meeting about mum. Tonight is a total comfort eat. Oven chips, egg and beans. I'll make it later. I need to tidy up the chaos of toys first. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.
Yia….Glad to hear your DH is safely home. Small steps, take things very slowly. Don’t forget to look after yourself too.
Soop hopefully you both won’t have to wait too long for your appointments 🤞.
I went to our local Church Coffee Morning today, it gets me out and once there I do enjoy the company. I’m now trying to do a bit of admin work but my head is like cotton wool at the moment with this rotten cough/cold……
I hope you ALL have a pleasant evening, whatever you’re up to and sending love and strength to those of you who are battling life’s stresses…..much love 🌹🌹
Good afternoon all.
I have been quiet of late but just popped in to say how pleased I am with Yia’s update and to find out the Soops news, perhaps not what you wanted to hear but onwards to the next consultation.
My life is just plodding at the moment, family upsets to deal with and waiting for further tests to see if I have a condition which may cause problems.
I am very positive about it actually, one aspect of being old that may be in my favour.
Best wishes and healing vibes to all.
Good to hear your husband is strong enough to be home yia. I recall well that feeling of it’s too soon, had it last year with Mr C after open heart surgery but you know he was so much happier at home than in hospital. For once he was sensible too as he didn’t want to be dispatched back again. Thinking of you both.
More waiting then soop, stay hopeful something can be done to help. 🤞 for you.
It’s horrifically wet here today. Not that either of us have ventured out. On the positive side it will wash the bird offerings from the conservatory roof and the dust from the car. . Mr C is sleeping, he’s taken a step backwards energy-wise today, just the way covid is. I’m feeling a little better so we balance each other nicely - which means the washing up is mine 😂.
Look after yourselves everyone.
So pleased to hear your news Yia take good care of each other. x
Hello Kitcheners, what a warm comfortable new kitchen.
DH came home yesterday evening.I feel far too soon but he’s happy to be home. He’s home with a catheter and will be having a heart monitor fitted. The catheter has to stay for the next two weeks.Hopefully he will improve as the days go by.We get the biopsy results in about four weeks so not thinking about that for now.
I’ve not a chance of catching up with you all but send kind thoughts.
Granmarie thankyou that is the quote I was thinking about- we've only got the one child- not sure if that's a help or a hindrance re my present mood...
Lovely photo Baggs and Soop
Despite my present mood of the 'glums' I am sending positive thoughts and good wishes to all who might need them- hopefully they'll rub off on me
I read Micks Good Morning thread most mornings, but rarely post as I've either got very little to say, or its nearly the afternoon; similarly re Soops Kitchen re content, nowt from me that would be of much interest!
I do enjoy keeping up with all your busyness though
x
I'm just popping in to tell you lovely lot about the appointment with the surgeon after lunching with dear Baggs
Her first remark was - "that's a hernia and a half". She examined me and concluded that it was not something that she could repair. She is therefore referring me to a colleague of hers in a hospital in Paisley. It is likely that he may also choose not to attempt to risk further interference. In which case, I shall continue to live with it and count my blessings. Mr Soop still awaits his letter of referral. Together we make a good team.
We need to go out for the afternoon. I therefore send my love and all good wishes to our Kitcheners who need extra special loving care.

Thanks Jax I arrived home last night early evening but as always I was tired after travelling so had an early night 😴 This morning I’ve been out volunteering, a quick trip to DD2s, a trip to Tesco and now I’m home. I’ve got the lentil soup in the slow cooker grandmabatty and looking forward to that later
The sun is shining here today with a gentle breeze - the autumn colours are just starting to show on the trees in the wood at the bottom of the garden, I’ll enjoy them before all the leaves end up all over the grass and need clearing up!
Hoping for some positive news from Yia soon x
That’s a gorgeous picture of you both soop and baggs so pleased you got the chance to meet up ☕️☕️
Phew - onto page 4 already and I have just found you!
We too have received a gift from DGD 2. DH has tested and it isn’t Covid but it’s left him very chesty. I’m just tired. Staying awake during the afternoon is a real challenge!
DH cut the lawn this morning fortunately, as it’s pouring with rain now.
There are oat, raisin and honey cookies on the side. I see someone has drunk all the fizz and snaffled Kitty’s carrot cakes.
NNGB
Fab picture of you Soop and Bags....hoping too that hospital appointments went well and a resolution forthcoming too. Hope everyone has a peaceful night.
