Good morning from a damp East Lothian. Yesterday we enjoyed what may be the last sunny, warm day for a while. We had a woodland and stream side walk - rather muddy in places but gloriously leafy and mossy. We returned by the road and enjoyed the views to the hills from which the rain chased us, and across newly ploughed fields to the Firth of Forth at one point. On one stretch there were rows of crab apple trees laden with fruit. My bag was full of wrappers and cans and plastic bottles as I was living up to my name 😇 so I will have to return if I want to gather some fruit for crab apple jelly.

Today I will chop up veg for soup (sorry yours wasn’t good GMB) and maybe bake something to take round to DD’s.

That sounds a nasty fall, Bellasnana - hope your injuries heal up quickly. Hope also for improvement for Corner and GrannySomerset. - you both seem to be having a miserable time with these horrible viruses. hollysteers, you sound well-prepared for your op - I hope all goes well on Thursday.

I’d better get on with chopping leeks etc!

Good Morning from a soggy Co Armagh ,
I made a vat of soup yesterday , now to decant it into portion sized containers and fit it into the freezer !
Sorry to read of illness and fals 💐

GrannySomerset Tue 08-Oct-24 10:04:37

Another night of weird dreams and wakefulness so feel like an old dishcloth this morning. Whatever it is I have got is taking its time and I foresee another non-day. At least the temperature seems to have gone so that is an improvement. I am very bored by it all.

Thoughts are with the accident-prone and those with family worries . Hope the day goes well.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's been raining 🌧 steadily all night by the looks of it.

I have been to the chiropractor already, next the dentist and then hopefully collect my car which should be drivable again with new exhaust and new tyres.

Yesterday, after leaving my car, I stayed on the bus into Edinburgh and went to 3 art exhibitions and a lovely walk around the Botanic Gardens in sunshine.

Poor Bella! What a thing to happen when you were already feeling poorly

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a damp Black country.
Haven't read through yet have had a great nights sleep woken by the dustmen who are later than usual.
No plans as yet just a few phone calls to friends to catch up.
Noticed no Marydoll yesterday hope she is ok.
Well will make some breakfast and catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Best wishes to you all enjoy your day whatever your plans ☀️

hollysteers Tue 08-Oct-24 08:58:52

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Acrylic nails removed and pedicure yesterday against my op on Thursday. The salon has a wonderful massage chair to enjoy whilst having a pedicure, but it made no difference to my aching back. Now I don’t have acrylic nails, I will probably start my bad habit of picking my fingers…the only reason I have them.

DD arrives from the south tonight and I will cook a chicken casserole. Last music club meeting this afternoon until I am well enough to return. I’m very lucky that my DD will be with me at this time, taking me into hospital and staying for a few days afterwards. It’s puréed food for me then, so the blender is out.

Nice pic Mizuna, take it easy Bella and thoughts to Kalu FGT and Susan🌺

Good morning from wet and cold Alton Going out for dinner then library 💻

RosiesMaw2 Tue 08-Oct-24 08:52:19

Good morning all from wet N Bucks - a dreary day is forecast so I may have to abandon any outdoor plans and hunker down with a book. I’m enjoying Val McDermid’s Kate Brannigan series at the moment. Not intellectually taxing - but absorbing.
Yesterdays Art History was on Marina Abramovic and we mostly agreed that her performance art sounded eminently missable. I wonder if LLFL went to last year’s RA exhibition of her work- you had to pass/squeeze between a naked man and woman standing in the doorway to get in.
Me neither!
I’m sorry to hear of poorly Grans - I hope you can take it a bit easier, and put yourselves first sometimes.
It’s SIL3’s birthday today and SIL 2’s tomorrow! What are the odds on that? (SIL1’s birthday is the day before D1 ,talk about coincidences!)
With gentle and kind thoughts to you all .

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp and dreary corner of Somerset

Another quiet day ahead. Not enjoying this bout of covid. Mr C is much better if still incredibly tired, he sleeps a lot which has to be good for him. I’m finding sleep elusive while feeling exhausted. It will pass I know, I’m just so grumpy at the moment.

Ouch bella. That must have been scary. Fingers crossed for an uneventful day. Not like you to have unpleasant soup grandmab, you still sound more than weary, a lot going on, hope today is manageable. Ash Ive done a couple of physio led knee pain courses and found it possible to adapt to suit my various creaky bits. That’s a fun photo mizuna, brought a much needed smile.

Thinking of everyone managing difficulties and a hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 08-Oct-24 08:29:38

Just finished reading all your posts! Loved that photo Mizuna it’s so quirky! Ouch Bellasnana! You’ll be all shook up and super wary today where you plant your feet I expect. A fall certainly shakes one’s confidence for a while. I’m missing Whitewave still and the wonderfully descriptive posts about her garden. I hope she’s okay. And if you are reading Kalu a big hug for you from me. Enjoy your mani/pedi appointment today GG13 I’ve got one booked ready at home. Sad to hear how your brother is making a sad situation worse Susan56. Stay strong, for your mum. x

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Oct-24 08:22:18

Morning from a very wet S Hants, another heavy shower has just finished.
Ouch bella it’s a shock when that happens too.
How annoying with your soup gbatty
Phone was busy yesterday, I must complete the admin in a minute.
We missed not having quiz last night, particularly the people.
No real plans today, I might have to do something domestic!

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk which is a pleasure as I was expecting rain.

What a fright you must have had,Bellasnanna yesterday. I hope you have an easier day today.

I think I must tackle the rest of our holiday ironing and have no other plans other than some essential shopping in our local market town where there is a choice of several cafes for coffee.

The rest of the week will be very busy so I’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of today.

Georgesgran Tue 08-Oct-24 08:17:30

Good morning from Durham. Grey and gloomy here. I’m meeting a friend for coffee and a catch up this morning at a local garden centre.. She’s having a new kitchen fitted and wants to escape the mess.
Later, I’ll have to tumble dry a load of DD2’s laundry that I washed last night.

I hope you’re ok today Bella. Trips and falls are embarrassing, but can often undermine one’s confidence.

I hope your DGD hasn’t been mid-taught Glamma as only 6 people died in the Great Fire. DGS1 is learning about it too.

Getting in and out of Newcastle is a nightmare at the moment stansgran, even with the bus/taxi lanes. It’s taking me 2x as long to get to the DDs and back. I bet your DH will be pleased to get home later.

Best wishes to all. X

Taichinan Tue 08-Oct-24 08:08:04

Good morning all from a grey Angus coast. I was going to say cool, but apparently it's going to be perishing by the weekend so I'll take this as pleasantly mild
Goodness Bella flowerswhat a shock for you. I hope you're not feeling too stiff today.
Who knew there were so many different varieties of daffodils baubles. I have nine in my garden, and I thought I was doing well!
Love that photo Mizuna. Enjoy your tech detox - that's something I should consider for myself but I think it would be a step too far!
Much sympathy for your plantar fasciitis (sp?) GrannyIvy. I had that a few years ago and it is very painful. I now make sure I wear arch support trainers and have similar insoles for other shoes.
Tuesday, so it's tai chi and shopping this morning so I must make a move - I've just remembered I forgot to iron my tee and trousers yesterday. What's that someone was saying about ironing mountains .........
Happy and safe travels to today's travellers and I hope all those feeling less than 100% feel better. Stay cosy and dry x

harrigran Tue 08-Oct-24 07:59:03

Good morning from a grey, rainy NE where it is forecast to continue all day.
I had awful back pain yesterday so did a few little jobs that I could do standing up but eventually had to lie down and read my book.
Nothing planned for today so some gentle pottering then read my book.
Bellasnana, that fall must have shocked you, hope you feel better today.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 08-Oct-24 07:57:56

Good morning everyone from the Rip van Winkles here in Málaga. 🌞 We were in bed by 10pm (long but enjoyable stroll along La Carihuela and back again) and slept till just after 8am!
Well, we must have needed it.

Tuesday = LWW afternoon. 🍷 Yay! Just the 3 of us this week. I’ve brought Saga magazines for them (not available here, nor by subscription) so they love reading them after my stepfather has passed them to me! Also some bags of Thornton’s chocolates as again, not available over here.

I shall enjoy seeing them as always but sad when we hug our goodbyes ‘for now’. 🤞we can return soon.

We fly home on Thursday afternoon. I’m ready to go back. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our summer as directed by Professor Mansoor but I’m missing my family. I wouldn’t like to live away from them all. A foot in both camps has always suited us better. Plus, a CT scan and the result by the end of this month is looming. We’ve been 3 months away from the Christie and you can (almost) forget Himself is still under them. Always will be of course. Himself looks and feels very well. He said recently “I’ve just got to hope the scan shows I’m as good on the inside as I am on the outside”.

BlueSapphire Tue 08-Oct-24 07:54:59

Good morning everyone from an overcast and grey Northampton, heavy showers forecast later, so may not venture out on my well-being walk.

Yesterday turned out lovely and I was able to get two loads of washing, towels and bedding, dried on the line.
Spent the afternoon reading, and then decided to make FGT2's SOAP dish but I adapted the recipe and in the end it bore little resemblance to the original recipe! Still tasted ok though, and there is enough left over to have today. I will add a sausage to it today.

Must hoover upstairs today, and do the stairs as well, then probably spend the afternoon reading again - if I can stay awake! Kept nodding off and dropping my book yesterday!

Take care today Bellasnana, hope no more nasty incidents are in store. My DD also performed in Zakopane.

Hoping all have a good day.

Gingster Tue 08-Oct-24 07:52:24

Good morning all and it’s dry but grey here in Essex.

Lots of ‘under the weather ‘ grans on here today. I do hope you feel better as the day wears on.
Oh dear Bellasnanna you are in the wars. Take it steady!

Mizuna another great photo 👍.

I’ve been reading about Hurricane Milton too. It’s being categorised as 6 now. Poor people trying to evacuate. The mayor actually said ‘if you don’t get out, you will die’.
We must count our blessings 🙏.

Bridge group this afternoon and maybe evening 🤯.

Take care everyone.🌻🍁

Good morning from a damp and drizzly Oxfordshire.

We didn’t get to the MOT yesterday, so will pop the car up in a few minutes. We will collect it this afternoon if it passes.

Bellasnonna you will need a good lie down when you get home! Hope you get over your fall soon.

Hope everyone has a good day and is able to stay dry.

NannyJan53 Tue 08-Oct-24 07:41:26

Good morning from a damp and dull Black Country.

Good walk yesterday through the woods with my group, where it was quite sunny. New member of the group joined so had a good chat with her. On the way to the park I saw my DGD2 in a cafe. She arrives here for college on a Monday, but doesn't have a lecture until midday. So I popped in gave her a hug and bought her a coffee, then carried on to my walk.

Today I should have been to a NT property with my friend, but she has some kind of sickness bug. Hoping she is well by Friday as she is off on a cruise down the Danube from Budapest with another friend

So a planned day becomes an unplanned day. The world is my Lobster!

Ouch Bellas that sounds painful and as you say embarrassing. I hope you are ok and have no more mishaps!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Stansgran Tue 08-Oct-24 07:40:55

Wet cold and gloomy in Durham . DH has taken a taxi into hospital and said there were several cloudbursts on the way to Newcastle. I’ve got the central heating on and my dressing gown on over my clothes! Hope everyone’s bruises mend quickly. @Bellasnana I had to get DH’s glasses mended in Krakow and they were very good ,did it on the spot.

Redcar Tue 08-Oct-24 07:32:40

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s damp with broken cloud. A showery day forecast. A better night last night but I still woke up just after 5. I think I’m disturbed at that time by the street lights coming on. I’m looking after DD1’s dog today and collecting the granddaughters from after school club and looking after them until their mum and dad get home.
Tomorrow I need to try to find a pest control company who can deal with a possible wasps nest. It’s possibly located in the loft, or in the bathroom fan! The council will only deal with a wasps nest if it can be accessed from outside!
Have a good day everyone!

Puss Tue 08-Oct-24 07:27:40

Good morning from a very wet Belfast. Woke up to heavy rain.
DH went out early this morning helping out DD.
This morning is church group hope the rain doesn't put people off coming.
Thinking about you Bella and hope you have a good day.
Zakapane is lovely. Take it slowly.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Going to make stew today into comfort food now.
Have the best day everyone.

luluaugust Tue 08-Oct-24 07:23:06

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Up and getting ready to travel to Scotland. Along sit for us but the train will, we hope, take the strain.
Bella what a thing to happen, please take care today.
Best wishes

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire.

Bella what a shock you must have had. Hope today is uneventful.

Last week we attended a talk by the young head gardener of our nearest NT property and decided yesterday to pay it a visit as we hadn’t been for well over a year. He has made great improvements, it was looking so good. I’ll look forward to springtime to see the daffodils, apparently they have over 450 varieties.

This afternoon I’m going to visit a neighbour who hasn’t been keeping well.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.
