Hello after a bit of a break...

literally, a break. I fractured my elbow in late August just days before a long planned holiday to Spain. Fortunately it required only a brace and no cast, so I was able to go on vacation as planned. Thankfully DH was able to drag along two suitcases and after the first week the pain was much more tolerable.

Now I have had my six week x-ray and check up by the doctor. He has given the all-clear and I plan to get back to work next week.

I am happy to log on here and check up on all I have missed while away (I also had a week planned visiting my daughter and family when I returned from vacation).

You have my sympathy with the broken elbow, I had one as a child and I can still remember how painful it was. Glad you’re now recovering, and welcome back!

Welcome back CanadianGran!
I was wondering the other day if you'd been back to the wilderness lodge your family have bought?

Do tell us where you went to in Spain and what you thought about it all 😎

Thank you all for your kind messages.

CrazyH, yes, I live on the west coast of BC, quite far north of Vancouver. My Mum's family was from Jersey, so I feel I have a bit of cultural connection on this forum.

V3ra, the last time we went up to the cabin was at the beginning of August. It was lovely (there's that well used word ); warm weather, swimming, going for walks and sitting around a campfire at night. My son and family have been up since, and my DH and his buddies are planning to use it for a base while on a hunting trip later this month.

Spain was really fun. We started in Barcelona, what a great city, then moved on to Valencia where I met a cousin and her husband for a few days. Then train across the country to Galicia and Asturias areas, as well as meeting friends in northern Portugal. Then it was driving across southern France to avoid bad weather. Our last week was spent in Collioure, France and then Roses, Spain.
Overall, the holiday was filled with historical sightseeing, wandering old city streets, spending time with friends and family while enjoying good food and wine. And of course some good beach time as well! All round a wonderful get away.

The elbow has been given the all-clear by the doctor, and I plan to get back to work next week.

Sounds like you've had an eventful few months!

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Oct-24 23:12:55

Roses is smashing, we’ve stayed in La Franc nearby.

sazz1 Thu 10-Oct-24 23:49:58

Welcome back. Glad you could still have a holiday. Best wishes xxx

Oh welcome back. Good to see you again.

Jajacky, Llafranc looks like a really nice little town. I found Roses to be a bit without character, although there were plenty of restaurants and the beach was lovely. I think smaller towns appeal to me more.

I could say 'next time', but it was a long journey for us and I don't know that there will be a return to that area! Colloire was very high on my list of favourites, though!
