they scare the sh*t out of me, always been terrified since a young child. Even pictures on screen or in magazines is enough. Dont like people to kill them, as that is unfair, but hubby puts them out. The ones this year have been big enough to hear them as they ran across the floor.
Remember once pulling the sun visor down on the car, yes I was driving, and one dropped in front of me. Luckily for my daughter and grandson who were also in the car I was doing approx 5 miles an hour on a farm road going home, as I evacuated the car without even stopping it. I am afraid the instinctive reaction would have been the same had I been doing 60 down the bypass.
I was bitten by one about 10 years ago, had been out walking a country walk. Thumb was itch when I got back to the car, but time we got home and hour later my whole arm was so swollen I thought the skin was going to burst. Ended up in A&E for antibiotics and more antihistamines. You could see the fang marks, but no idea how it got to bite me.
