Good Morning from a lovely sunny Co Armagh, there’s a bit of heat in the sun too
I have painful hands today , I’ll have to stop crochet for today , it hasn’t caused it , but it doesn’t help it either
Yesterday morning we had the choir and organist at Mass , it was quite uplifting
Greenhouse might get a clear out this afternoon and a few perennials in pots moved in , my Daughter has a free afternoon and has suggested it
Thinking of those sick or despondent 💐

Thank you for the kind messages. We are now on the 10 o’clock from Perth to Kings Cross so a good long sit. DH has a face bruise but otherwise fine. We have hospital facilities near home if needed.

Georgesgran Mon 14-Oct-24 09:23:57

DD2 was at an event in Durham Cathedral yesterday evening…

GrannySomerset Mon 14-Oct-24 09:11:44

A mixed bag of weekends reported this morning so special sympathy to the unwell and the convalescent. Admin and the gardener today and possibly getting to grips with the new air fryer if I can decide what to dig out of the freezer to experiment with.

Grammaretto Mon 14-Oct-24 09:07:49

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny and freezing cold here.
I woke with a runny nose type cold so will not do anything strenuous today.

Yesterday was very sociable. My French friend came to tea with 3 more women ( 1 Irish, 1 Polish and 1 American) and I listened while they put the world to rights. 🤣😂

I have date for a consultation for a hip replacement so I really need to do some exercise. I shall sign up for a class or 2.

Great picture ginny verrry scary

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a crisp, cold, Durham. Not a cloud in the sky, but some signs of an overnight ground frost.
DGS2 was a delight yesterday - coughing quite a lot though. He’s at Nursery today, but they’ll send him home if he’s poorly.

Coffee this morning with a friend, then an afternoon running around various places, buying/returning/exchanging stuff.
Head wounds bleed such a lot Lulu, but do keep an eye on your DH later.
I’m lost off with how many GNs are in the sick bay for one reason or another. Needless to say, I hope you are all making some progress. 💐MaryD

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and all. It's 0° on the Angus coast, with a light covering of frost, but one of those lovely golden autumn mornings. The towels are in the machine ready to hang out and I'll be off in a minute to find a small clothes wash too to make the most of a good day.
Yesterday was a bit of a nothing day, not made happier by DGD3's news that she and her boyfriend have broken up. I'd been picking up the vibes for quite a while so it wasn't entirely a surprise, but I'm so sad for her - how I wish I could shelter her from the heartache of youth. I remember when my 'first true love' and I broke up how I'd walk for miles to our next town to my sister's, borrow the baby (who's now nearly 70!) and walk for more miles with her in her pram - anything to keep moving and occupied! DGD3 seems to be cooking as her coping strategy and was telling me about the lasagne soup she'd just made.
Hollysteer flowers your recovery sounds most uncomfortable. Get better soon.
Happy birthday to your DH Sar.
Lulu what a shock to you all! I hope your journey home is comfortable and uneventful and that your DH feels no ill-effects after his fall.
Your two 'little terrors' will be little angels after soft play Grandmabatty, I'm sure 🤞
Nothing particularly exciting in my programme for today - just tai chi committee meeting. It's always lovely to see everyone of course, but I find it a bit of a trial trying to hear and follow what's being said. I get so frustrated . Always interesting reading the minutes later!
Have the best day you can everyone x

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire. It was raining when I woke up but seems to have stopped now.

We had a lovely weekend with DD2 and family. We took DGD4 shopping for her birthday. She bought a very random selection of 'stuff'.

Yesterday everyone went to watch DGS4 play football and give his little brother his birthday present.

After they had all left we discovered DSiL had left his wallet here so he has no cards or cash. Have to work out the best way to get it back to him as they are not coming back for a month. Bless him!!!

Our son’s partner left her wallet behind with everything in it! I arranged a signed for special delivery and she had it back the next day.

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE but there is frost on the cars.
Put my back out yesterday and am in agony, didn't shut my eyes until 4.30am then only slept fitfully.
Today would have been our 57th wedding anniversary, it was gloomy and rained all day for the wedding, I have no outside photos other than me escorted into the church under a huge umbrella.
Have a good day everyone.

Beechnut Mon 14-Oct-24 08:47:25

Good morning everyone and Happy Birthday to MrSar 🎂🎉
It has been raining overnight and the sky is very grey.

I had my autumn jabs on Saturday, in and out as quick as and then on to pick up my prescription.
I finally got round to reading some paperwork, had a few tears and then the sky turned brighter and I took it for a sign.

Today I’m going out craft shopping, mostly for essentials but I expect I’ll buy some other things.

Wishing all the best to you all 🌻

Good morning everyone from a dry and slightly sunny south Manchester. Alexa tells me it’s 6°C rising to 12°C with sunny spells all day.

We have no plans after a wonderfully socialised weekend which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Himself has routine dental and then hygienist appointments this afternoon. I plan to wander in and out of the shops in the square. Coffee out together at some stage is a strong possibility.

Marydoll Mon 14-Oct-24 08:42:47

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -1°C, but sunny.

Another quiet day for me, apart from some admin.
At the request of the new PP, I am trying to set up a Whats App group for key parish workers (a fair number) to improve communication and get the complainers onside, I have made a mess of it and somehow added a Glesca Gran by mistake, no surprise there! 😆
My head is mince, i.e I cannot concentrate at all. I have compared the process to herding unruly and reluctant cats. 😉

LLF, I am so envious. About fifteen years ago, I was studying in Lyons and every morning, I saw the Riviera Travel boats lined up on the quayside. On my return, I tried to persuade DH to do a river cruise, unfortunately,he doesn't do cruises! 😔
It would have been wonderful to travel down the Rhône

I want to thank everyone for their kindness, with a special thanks to the Glasgow Grans, those who sent PMs and my school pal Borrheid, who have kept in touch.
I have had many episodes of being very unwell, but somehow have always managed to overcome things and be positive..
However, this time I have felt quite hopeless and sad at the unfairness of life and did not want to bring my negativity to the GM thread. There are posters, who have far more to deal with than I have.

Best wishes to all, who are struggling and feeling unwell. Being ill and childminding are so difficult,, GMB, I hope you can get through the day.

Safe journey home, lulu, I hope your DH is not to badly injured.

LaCrepescule Mon 14-Oct-24 08:33:09

Good morning from a grey and drizzly St Albans. I too feel like Mrs Overall hollysteers!
The builder starts today on refitting my bathroom. Luckily I have a downstairs loo/basin so will be perfecting the art of strip-washing and can use my neighbour’s shower when it’s hair wash day.
Doing a lot of reading, currently on Dombey and Son. Dickens writes with such humour whilst tackling huge issues.
Daughter popped in yesterday but am missing company as I usually go out every day and meet someone. I live alone but have dear little dog who is the best companion.
Have a great day everyone.

Liberty Mon 14-Oct-24 08:19:36

Good morning from an as yet dry north Suffolk but very grey.

We had a lovely time yesterday with DS and family. It was strange to see them without DGD1 who is happily settled at university. They seem to have settled down into a family of 4 and their dog seems to have accepted that.

DGS3 had made a delicious French onion soup and chocolate brownies. I think he still has to learn that clearing up is part of the cooking experience.

I’m looking forward to meeting up with Gingster and am glad our new venue is indoors. Sitting outside at the beach cafe at Dunwich wouldn’t cut it today.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Sar53 Mon 14-Oct-24 08:02:40

Good morning from a very wet Essex coast.
It's DH's birthday today and we are being taken out to brunch by his two girls to a local hotel.
Thinking of all with illness or worries, best wishes to all xx

Gingster Mon 14-Oct-24 08:00:52

Good morning all and yes it’s raining here on the Suffolk coast.

Yesterday was sunny with a chilly breeze but ds1 and 2 got a lot done in the garden. They worked so hard and it was lovely having them to ourselves. Lots of laughs and banter.
DS2 has left his coat here! 🙄.

Today I’m meeting Liberty for lunch which will be lovely, I know. Not our usual tea rooms as it is closed, so we’ll see how we feel about our new venue.

Lulu that must have been a shock for you all. I hope your journey home is problem free. 🤞.

Hollysteers I have had a hernia repair but only a single one. I know it’s very painful for a while but it will gradually ease. My Dh made me laugh and it was excruciating! 😬.

Enjoy Hyde Hall Redcar. Always lovely there.

Oops that feeling of dread is horrible, on waking. Hopefully your day will turn out better .

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day. 🌻🍁

ginny Mon 14-Oct-24 07:57:24

Good morning from a very wet N.Bucks.
Great afternoon with 3 & 8 year old DGS making things for Halloween. Don’t be too scared by the photo !

Friends coming for lunch today so must get going.

Hope there is improvement for those who are poorly and a good day wished for all.

cornergran Mon 14-Oct-24 07:55:01

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset. Flood alerts again with local minor roads in trouble.

Things are looking brighter here. May venture forth for coffee today as covid test is finally negative and it’s time to get some sort of routine back. While energy remains low spirits are high.

My thoughts are with all facing challenges, so many with worries.

Hope Monday is gentle with us all.

BlueSapphire Mon 14-Oct-24 07:47:04

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton. Yoga this morning, coffee in the little cafe afterwards, then a bit of pottering at home, and spend the afternoon reading.

A day indoors yesterday, with DGD2 being collected by DS mid afternoon. The house felt very quiet and empty after she'd gone. DS presented me with a bottle of fizz for having the girls.

Must get my skates on and get ready.for.yoga; hoping for a.good Monday for all.

GrannyIvy Mon 14-Oct-24 07:40:56

Good morning from a dark wet Cambridgeshire. We are forecast 100% rain today.
Today will be another quiet one with just pottering and resting. My thoughts are with others recovering from procedures and illness 💐
luluaugust what an end to your holiday and hope your DH is ok and you get safely back home.
I am enjoying reading about everyones news and wishing a happy day to all.

Jaxjacky Mon 14-Oct-24 07:33:17

Morning from a grey S Hants, we had heavy rain in the night. Yesterday was chilly, MrJ watched our grandson play football, then we, plus my son and his other half, all went to my daughters for lunch.
I’m off out in a minute picking up a friend from our local airport, traffic will be awful.
Following your progress holly it’s an op I’ll probably end up having, good you’re improving.

Redcar Mon 14-Oct-24 07:22:48

Good morning everyone from Essex where it’s dark and wet, 8 degrees according to the garden thermometer. DD1 and family came over yesterday afternoon for a little while, good to see them. Son in law folded my garden chairs and put them away for the winter. He also cut the grass for me - I had planned to do it after they’d gone. I think that may be the last cut of the season, as the ground is quite damp. Had my usual catch up phone call with my friend in Kent.
Meeting a friend for coffee at Hyde Hall this morning, but I doubt we’ll go for a walk in the wet.
nannyjan I hope you feel better soon. oops i hope you get to see your BiL tomorrow and get away on holiday on Wednesday. A feeling of dread is worrying. holly I hope the pain eases soon.
susan a busy day for you today, safe driving and I hope all goes well with Bank etc.
lulu I hope your DH is ok and that you have a good journey back to Kent today.
Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Mon 14-Oct-24 07:22:27

Good morning, ‘tis bucketing down here in south Glos, a very wet start to the day.
Yesterday was quiet, little done apart from almost finishing reading a book.
Today I want to tidy a kitchen cupboard, I’ve done two and this is the next one. I really have too many tins etc, pretty certain that several will be out of date 🙄
A dog walk first will wake me up.
Take care everyone 🌹

Morning all from my cosy cabin on the Rhone. We are heading towards Chateauneuf du Rhone. Yesterday’s trips to Arle and Pont du Garde were good. I am stiff as a board today!

Commiserations to all of you with difficulties. Someone said to me once that getting old isn’t for wimps!

I love this photo of a door knocker in Arles.
