Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark with signs of overnight rain here in brackley this morning.
A very much routine of some housework , and then get the bus to Bicester , seems to be fewer people about shopping wise a sign of things to come .
Health wise , OK bowel wise .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone! It's 12.8C here in little Appleby. I'm sat here with a cuppa and some Custard Cream bickies!

Absolutely scared myself silly this morning! My livingroom and bedroom are directly next to each other. At night before bed I always put on a livingroom table lamp so there's a bit of light coming into my dark bedroom.

In the livingroom I have a coffee table opposite my desk. I got up about 2am, stuffed with Amoxicillin and still very rough, thumping headaches, hacking coughing fits, awkward chest etc. absolutely desperate for a fizzy drink. I'd left a un-opened can of Doctor Pepper on the coffee table. I went to grab the can and for a second I swear I saw someone hiding under my desk - I live alone and no pets -I absolutely shot through the roof with fright then realized it was a shadow as I bend down to pick up the can!

But apart from my heart jumping out of my chest I'm OK! HA!

Have a good one, all of you, no matter what you're doing today!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Cold and sunny again.
I've just been to the podiatrist and told her my family history. She seemed pretended to sound interested and suggested it would make a good mini series 😂😂

I have a new Helpx arriving this afternoon by bike from Cornwall.
I have a list of jobs for him over the next fortnight. He will have to sleep in the sitting room as the spare "guest suite" still has my temporarily homeless friends in it.
It will be a jolly time, I hope.

I have nightmares about being too near the side on boats Llfl ever since I was in Battersea Park funfair in a rowing boat with my teenaged boyfriend. He rowed me into the tunnel of love and I dangled my arm over the side, only for it to smash against the tunnel. It was most unromantic 😥 I hope your cruise is wonderful.

Apart from the airport, I don't think I have ever been to Prestwick.
It sounds nice.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Good morning from still sunny East Lothian - rain on its way tonight. I had a lovely day yesterday, gardening at DD’s. She is very limited now in what she can do in the garden, due to her undiagnosed muscle weakness, so when we are here I try to do a bit of weeding and planting. We went to a local garden centre for lunch on Sunday and, of course, came back with some plants 🙂. I walked back to our flat along the river as the last of a beautiful autumn day turned to night. I could see through the hanging branches in their delicate gold, to the weir where the moorhens were feeding. Today I will do a bit more gardening and later we are going to the cinema to see The Outrun. I have read the book and am looking forward to seeing the Orkney land and seascapes on the screen.

Glad you are recovering steadily from your op, Holly. Thoughts with you, Baubles and all who have extra challenges just now. Hope your trip to Lidl goes well, Marydoll - don’t overdo it!

Blimey LLFL within touching distance of that metal! Pull your elbows in as you go through mind.

Dunworking

Thanks Marydoll!
Funnily enough Prestwick didn’t used to be in our sights until I joined Gransnet…..then a certain lady 😜mentioned all of the clothes shops ! Troon and Ayr were unceremoniously dumped!

I should become a brand ambassador for Prestwick! wink

Good morning from an overcast NE.
I had a much better night, I had taken sufficient painkillers to allow me to sleep.
DD sent a lovely bouquet yesterday, DC are so thoughtful.
I spent all day lying flat and reading my book, only going downstairs to make something to eat in the evening.
SIL travelled from Brussels to the UK yesterday.
It is my sister's birthday, she is ten years younger than me and is spending the week in the Lakes. I will see her next weekend.
Thoughts are with those with worries.

Good morning from N Surrey. Grey and a bit damp this morning. The weather but it could be me as well. I watched thr Michael Moseley programme last night. I still cant believe he's not here anymore. Such a waste of a life.

I don't shower so can't have a cold shower, but had a cold very wet flannel wipeover after my bath which certainly woke me up. A good day to all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 15-Oct-24 08:51:19

You are such a cheery soul Pantsglas it’s a tonic just to read your posts every morning. I’m glad you came back to join us!

Good morning everyone from a very dull and grey Northampton, a dryish day forecast, so hope to get out on the health walk after an early lunch. Maybe some dust removal before that if I feel like it.

A lovely gentle yoga class yesterday followed by coffee together in the nearby little cafe; this is becoming a nice routine to follow.
The afternoon was spent getting stuck into my new library book, the third one in the Slow Horses spy series, which I believe can be seen on Apple tv - except I don't have Apple tv! I really like this series of books.
Home-made Spanish pork casserole from the freezer for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a good day.

Morning all from a grey S Hants. Susan it’s good you’re not tackling these challenges on your own, it’s so sad 🌹
Good to see you back WWM2 I’ve not heard of honey garlic, I’ll be putting in mine from the IoW in the next couple of weeks.
The voluntary phone was fairly quiet yesterday, but complicated lifts, then the excel spreadsheet had a problem, now resolved.
Today the Shark will be venturing out from under the stairs, I should get some bulbs in the ground too, they’re still in the boot of my car.

Good morning everyone from a dismal chilly south Manchester. Never mind, it is autumn after all, My sister in Estapona messaged me at 10pm last night to say they were experiencing the most spectacular thunderstorm with torrential rain.

I’m meeting 3 ladies from our book club for coffee in the square below later this morning. The younger members will all be at work. I might watch a film on Netflix this afternoon. Pleasingly decadent.

I am sure your friend will be more comfortable in the nursing home corner. We will start the process of looking for a home for mum today and several people have told us that after the initial settling in period she will hopefully improve.

Our daughters who are both also being fantastic with their grandma have both tested positive for covid😫

Well the Glasgow grans are out in force this morning.

Condolences Dunworking.💐
Prestwick is a favourite of ours. Those little shops never fail to seduce me! I love a stroll along the prom!

Baubles, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dunworking Tue 15-Oct-24 08:34:41

Good morning from a pretty dull Glasgow! A disappointment after a beautiful day yesterday.
We’re off to Prestwick this morning for a couple of nights but have just received a call to say that my uncle has just died in the night.
So sad and now makes me the oldest family member left….🥲
Hope all with troubles have the best day they can.

LaCrepescule Tue 15-Oct-24 08:31:17

Good morning all, I’m a bit late to the party but have been awake since 6.45.
It’s mild but misty here in Hertfordshire. My lovely neighbour’s just taken the dog for a walk as I’m semi-housebound due to foot op.
Had my first strip wash today and feel quite clean! The bathroom is out of action whilst it’s being refitted but neighbours have also offered me their showers.
Happy Tuesday everyone.

GrannySomerset Tue 15-Oct-24 08:31:08

More grey skies but at least no rain in the forecast as I contemplate what to do with my day. My regular supermarket trip is no more as my lovely neighbour has had to stop driving. His DD and her husband have moved in as he has been told there is no more cancer treatment appropriate and his lovely wife has Altzheimers, so it’s the end of an era.

Wonderful Cleaner due shortly so must get a move on. Hope we all have a good enough day.

baubles Tue 15-Oct-24 08:26:26

Good morning, it’s looking very grey here in South Lanarkshire.

Lovely to see you Topsy.
I find I can no longer rub in properly when making scones still. My thumbs just don’t have the strength anymore.

‘Things’ happening around me are still happening and I can’t control any of it so I’ll just have to find a way through it. One day at a time.

Today I’m walking a friend’s dog , a big placid thing. I think DH will come along with our own wee daft dug as I won’t manage both.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Liberty Tue 15-Oct-24 08:25:26

Well Gingster they do say great minds think alike!

Marydoll Tue 15-Oct-24 08:25:25

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is only 5°C.
As Topsy says, it is still quite dark. Lovely to see you posting.🥰

Such industrious and clever grans. I now have a desire to make whisky marmalade, I have had a tin of Mamade sitting for months in the cupboard, but can't quite summon up the energy! It's the faff of sterilising the jars, which puts me off.
Karma, I am in awe of your skills!

There are so many with crosses to bear on this thread and I hope you find the strength to cope. 💕

Thank you for your eloquent post, WWW

My baking supplies are very low, so I am hoping to try and go to Lidl. It is only five minutes away, therefore not too far if I feel unwell. Disabled spaces are right at the door and the trolley becomes my walking aid.
No matter how much I try to resist, I know I will end up with lots of Christmas treats.it brings back happy memories of visits to Germany.
Usually, I also drop into Matalan, B&M etc., but that would be a shop too far! I have lost my desire to shop, that is indeed a worry! I must be seriously unwell.😉

Wishing you all the best day you can have.

Greyduster Tue 15-Oct-24 08:19:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. Yesterday was dry and sunny - I managed to get laundry dry and to continue my winter tidy up of the back garden, in addition to mowing the front lawn and cutting a huge chunk off a conifer that was threatening to block access to the back gate. I will cut off some more when the green bin has been emptied.
The CH engineer is coming this morning to check for leaks on my system after the boiler failed on Sunday night. Touch wood it is ok at the moment. It’s only two years old and should not be giving problems. School volunteering this afternoon. Hope to walk there, but it’s looking unlikely.
Have the best day you can, folks.

NannyJan53 Tue 15-Oct-24 08:15:58

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country.

Feeling a tad better, but still very congested. DS is going over to Mums tomorrow after work to take her food shopping. I dare not go just yet. Will do a test tomorrow and hope I am negative,

Had a message from my cousin in Hospital. She is feeling ok after her Operation, but very tired as it is so noisy in there, day and night. Hope to visit her when she is home and I am 100%

Wishing you all the best day possible.

luluaugust Tue 15-Oct-24 08:14:18

Good morning from a misty W Kent, Dickens weather. After our long journey yesterday a quiet day for DH and his black eye, I shall have a much needed haircut this afternoon. Got home to find the big oven has packed up, luckily the small zone is still working.
llfl 😂
Susan glad your family are about with you.
Best wishes to all

Gingster Tue 15-Oct-24 08:13:20

Crossed posts Liberty - almost identical comments 😂😂

Liberty Tue 15-Oct-24 08:08:42

Good morning from a dull Suffolk after a glorious afternoon yesterday….it was glorious weather wise and also because I met up with Gingster and we had 3 hours of delightful chat and laughter.

The hotel where we met midway between us had decent coffee but not so good sandwiches so we shall try a different venue for our next get together.

Today I intend to do some tidying up of the flower bed down the side of the house. Recent winds have caused the fading dahlia stems to keel over an among the lovely michelmas daisies.

Hope all have the best day possible.
