We had a ringtail possum and her 2 little ones in the garden today in broad daylight. I spent the next half hour chasing off two mean ravens who fancied a meal of baby possum! I now feel better about the fact that they have stripped our lemon tree and other vegetation of leaves and fruit because they are so cute. She let me get right up close and I told her to go and hide and,you know what ? She did!
Tell us about your birds and wildlife!
We also had 3 echidnas last week- like a zoo here these days.

Beautiful photo nanna8.
Am afraid our wildlife isn’t quite so interesting.

What a lovely treat to have a family of possums visit your garden no possums. We live across the road from a park which is meadow woodland and ponds it stretches for miles. We have birds mice voles shrews wood rats hedgehogs squirrels visit most days.

This is the time when visits are more frequent one popular visitor has been a greater spotted woodpecker. We do have an owl in the woods and birds of prey are a common sight.

Our most recent nightly visitor has been a young fox it has its own routine which involves visiting most gardens. I leave food out that is suitable for foxes trouble is I am up all hours watching it.

I love the little squirrels you get, we don’t have them. I know they can be destructive, as can possums, but they look lovely.

I have squirrels daily on my lawn burying their Winter larder, foxes around the area even in broad daylight they aren’t shy of people either. Many birds including green Parakeets, Red Kites and occasionally Grey Heron and a Sparrowhawk.
It fun sitting at the windows watching what arrives.

Lovely pic nanna8!

We have far too many squirrels, plus Mr or Mrs Fox now and then, and used to get the odd badger when there was a big enough hole in the fence. Plus always the noisy parakeets!

We once had two badgers woffling around the garden, after I’d put a lots of buttery crusts out, after making a bread and butter pudding! Our garden is very small, and I was sitting out after dark at the time but they took absolutely no notice of me, too intent on the crusts!

Lovely, nanna8 🙂

Yes, we have squirrels here and they are cute but they are the grey ones unfortunately, not reds. They are pests!
The grey ones aren't native and brought a pox with them from America which kills reds but not greys.

Red squirrels are surviving thanks to careful management and dedication.

Sometimes a fox walks across our front lawn, according to a neighbour but we havent seen it yet.
